Hey just a question, I’m having an amazing career in aviation with AA but I’ve looked into air national guard / reserves to become an electrician if flight school doesn’t permit. Would I become certified and skilled after MOS training? I’m new to this 🙂

looks good. one suggestion i would recommend clock receptacles or recessed receptacles for applications such as that fire place in the future. clients pays a bit more so they can push their fire place against the wall and you dont get call backs for them accidentally damaging their cords or receptacles. no call backs for extra work but most clients ive seen have given good reviews and talk up your business which attracts future clients to consider calling for your services over others. seems not worth the time at estimation but giving options and suggestions to clients goes along way and it builds that relationship and trust.

Power wire feeding that panel looks awfully small. Might be looking at it wrong. Any reason yall added a single gang box for a switch right next to a 2 gang switch box already there and not make it a 3 gang box?

Little tip would be drill a screw in the middle of the piece before you cut that way you will have something to hold to keep the cut out from falling in the wall 😬

You are pulling 12Ga. Is the breaker for the heater 15A? If not, I think you need a 5-20R because it is a single outlet (location)

Good eye! We installed a 15a breaker for the dedicated circuit 5-15R. We ran out of 14awg romex so we had to take the loss & use 12awg romex.

Can I Install a new main breaker,meter base etc. next to the existing one before cutting service off and removing the old one?

Yes, you would just need to make sure it meets code and all new services will need to be inspected by the city and the work needs to be completed by an electrical contractor. A junction box would need to be added where the old panel was so it can be spliced and ran to the new panel.

Look at pre apprenticeship “helpers” it might be a pay decrease depending on state. $16 an hr in OH. Then apply for an apprenticeship program. This will teach you everything you need to know in a 4 year program. Take the test for the “J-Card” Journeyman/woman Electrician and then you control your destiny from there! That is the longest but the safest and most effective way to get into the industry! If you do an apprenticeship through the IBEW union all classes will be paid!

Nice video. Narration is better IMO but still good. Prices for the jobs would be cool. Im in PR so watching how u do things in the mainland is interesting. BTW we cant use 14 gauge wire in anything, our lowest allowable gauge is always 12.

I’m going to put more time narrating into my next one since that’s what people seem to like! Same here with the 12 gauge wiring! Only 12awg romex allowed in the city limits. This house was located outside the city limits so #14awg I allowed & used on some circuits. Dumb if you ask me but legal 🤷🏽‍♂️

And when the apprentices graduate they go on to continue working in those areas. Personally im interested in residential cus from what I know union(ibew) electricians are considered “installers” as in service work is rarely ever done

I would look up on google local electrical companies that are open 24/7. Those will be all the companies that due service work. Get your apprentice license online & start applying. You don’t need any college education to start working.

It all depends if it’s residential, commercial, industrial. Union or non union. And location … every state has different rates.

Yes! I would recommend new construction, commercial work. I see a lot of young guys on those type of job sites and you’ll start off doing simple tasks. When starting off in the trade, it’s a lot of hands on work. Once you get better, you’ll start learning more calculations and troubleshooting. Look up local electrical companies near you that are hiring and apply! All you need is an apprentice license. You can obtain it online for a small fee and they will mail it to you.
