This is the toughest part of virtual teaching....doing special activities....I am like you...try to make sure my kiddos have the materials and especially if a holiday is coming up...getting them the "fun" stuff so that we can have an extra special project or activity...I even will send home a video explaining what is in the materials bag and what should be saved....however...even then I still will have kiddos who don't pick up the bag or will get into something that they should have saved....happened to me this past Friday. I too had a box of conversation hearts that I told the kids we were using as "math tools". That means we are using it for math...they should not eat it or put in their mouth....well one of my littles ate the entire box beforehand...when we started the activity about 3 minutes in I see him crying...I asked him why he was crying...well...he had eaten his entire box....poor guy....redirected him and said "we can share information and use my data together"....he did the counting and writing on his paper...he quickly turned it around and did a great job on his graphing!! Virtual teaching is a challenge for sure!
