How long are you required to work in the warehouse or as a package car driver, etc before you're eligible for cdl training? And how often does that list get posted... once/twice a year, every few months?
@@MisterUnpredictable Just depends on the building your in and your seniority. Not really an exact time frame. For me I worked part time 3 years before I went full time in delivery. Then after 8 years of delivery I decided to switch to feeder. It could happen way sooner that was just my personal approach.
@@universaljaycreates Congrats on starting the training bro. You coming from part-time package handler or what? How long did it take to get selected for cdl training?
Keep up the grind💪🏽, I seen a position starting out base pay of 33.75 full time. I was wondering why people keep telling me not to go with UPS bc they say I’ll be on bad routes starting off Etc but 33.75 is good money especially if I’m doing 40+ hours a week I’m confused I’m literally waiting to see another UPS driver at the fuel island to get a better understanding. I’m wondering if I’ll have a bad year starting off. I love to drive its union it’s local, I really wanna pull doubles I have a drive test already scheduled. I’m just nervous bc what I’m hearing from ppl so if you can help me out a little I’d appreciate it. Also I have a E restriction, do all test drives require operating stick ?
Appreciate it man ✊🏾, but everyone kinda has they own opinions starting out yeah you may get what people may call “The Bad routes” just because everything is seniority based. Which you would basically get whatever everyone else doesn’t want but it’s kinda all in what you make it. For example I did 8 years delivery in package car and I would pick feeder over that 1 million times over. I would even pick the “ Bad routes” over going back to package car so honestly it’s kinda all in what you make it. You’re right that is good money starting out and trust me it gets even better. As far as the E restriction they may have you eventually go take a test with a Manuel to get that off they may not. Pretty much all our trucks are auto now anyway. I know when I came on I did my test in a Manuel but been in an auto ever since. I would just do whatever you feel is best for you and your position in life. That’s what I did just made a list of pros and cons and I had way more pros so I went for it.
i have a road test next week for a temp feeder spot.here in the PNW.. hoping to get my foot in the door and will move just about anywhere for a full time feeder position.
Taking my drug test & DOT physical now for Feeder Driver Atlanta Smart Hub. I've been loading trailers throwing Irreggs at the warehouse since November and maaaan I can't wait to get outta here & start making some real money💰💰💰 Go Union!!!✊🏿👍🏿
Congrats man but just be confident in yourself and in knowing what you’re talking about far as like the pre trip etc. other than that man your driving will speak for its self. You just show you can operate safely and you will be good.
I’m 21 , started working for UPS @19 on August 15th , 2022 ; exactly 3 months and 3 days away from turning 20! Now I’m 21 and just had my 2 yr anniversary with UPS! Located in Houston, Texas! Local 988! Currently a pre-loader but I’ve been looking into feeder ONLY bc I love to work by myself and drive a lot ! Any tips on trying to get into feeder? I’ve been told feeder driver can take up to years to get into it and is an old man’s game ! But like I said I’m 21 and If it’s possible to be in feeder within my 20s I’d love to !
Ay man congrats on the 2 yr anniversary!!!!! As far as feeder in which you probably already know since you work for ups it’s all a seniority thing. I’m 33 and did delivery for 8 years before I got into feeder but that’s just my journey. You could get in sooner you never know. I would just keep at it and every time you hear or see them put up an interest for feeder sign it even if you don’t think your gonna make it.
Question for the road test tractor/trailer will it be in automatic or manual? I don’t have any restrictions but, haven’t driven a manual since the DMV test. Is that a problem?
What’s going on man. Sometimes they will hire people of the streets that will go straight into driving but most the time yeah you would start part time then become a driver. I know in my building now it doesn’t take that long to become a driver like it use to, with all the guys retiring every year it seems.
@@JavonHall if you don’t mind me asking I just got hired as a yard shift driver do you think it will be possible after a while to become a feeder driver like you from this position ? It already requires me to have a CDL. Not sure what position u started out when u started at ups
@@Brandon-cp1nvI don’t see why not you definitely should be able to apply or put in for a position when ever it would come available like everyone else. I came from package car, I was in delivery for 9 years.
Are you on call or do you work everyday?? Let’s be real? UPS is an excellent company to work for.. if you’re working every day…most of the guys I have meet that work for ups is on call..
I wouldn’t say they would fail you may just deduct some points. If that’s how you was trained then just do it however your instructor told you to do it. I just know when I went through it. They didn’t want us to do that, it could totally be different were you are.
What’s up bro there’s a UPS job posting for Class a driver near me , BUT the description says that you have to load and label , is this is the same position as a feeder or am I missing something ?
What’s going on bro, that’s not for like a shifter in the yard is it? For the most part in feeder you definitely don’t touch boxes. Just hook and drop.
@4xman288 I was seriously considering joining up but that's would be a serious drop in pay for me. I have 6 years on the road accident free 2 years doubles experiance
I just got in to the union as a package driver and I have a Cdl A after 6 months I’m going to put my name to transfer to feeder would I be getting overtime ?
Yeah there is always a chance when you get hired seasonal to get let go after the holiday season. If in the case the need driver though they would hire you as seasonal and then would just convert you to permitted if they decided to keep you.
@@hectorfernandez6748 im hearing if you have a strong work ethic and drive by showing up on time and just doing an overall good job its very likely they will keep you
Wassup bro! I stumble across your channel. I got a road test with UPS next week. I apply for a feeder position. Any advice on anything? And is a feeder a night job position?
That’s wussup bro definitely good luck with that!!! I would say man just take your time during the test and just have the confidence in your self and you’re gonna kill it. There are day runs as well just all goes by seniority and where they need you at.
Great video! I’m in Southern California and I just passed my road test and my first day of class / orientation is 10/28. As a casual feeder driver what are the chances of getting hired full time? I was told as a casual it’s only seasonal. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you!! Stay safe out there 👍🏻
Thanks and Congratulations that’s great to hear but I would say just take you time and always remember safety first. If there is something you are unsure about never hesitate to stop and double check. It’s always better to be safe and keep yourself self out of bad situations. Also try to of course be on time and show up throughout your time as seasonal. If your hub your working at needs people after the holidays there is always a chance they will keep you.
Most ups buildings/hubs should be already starting to hire for the holiday season. Just start with trying to get in seasonal if need be just to get your foot in the door.
@@UNBROKEND OH gotcha, I know some of the big buildings will hire off the street Just have to keep applying. We’re I’m located it was just based on seniority I was in delivery for 8 years then when a spot opened up for feeder I was able to just take it.
@@UNBROKEND I just know in my area we have some smaller building and then there are some larger ones. In like PA,MD,Jersey etc. I’m not really to sure about Texas. I would just check the area to see how many ups buildings are around you.
What’s up man, Watched the video cus it came up on my page. I really liked the shots you did hooking up to the trailers etc with the camera set up. Maybe if you can find a way while editing, to talk over those clips to describe what’s going on, so it’s not you sitting in the truck as much. The driving shots were neat as well. If you can’t talk over the clips you could speed up the segments with you hooking stuff up etc to shorten the video a tad. Just ideas but great first video.
Quora has them, or if you work inside the building already go ask any on road supervisor for a paper copy. Learn all of it verbatim, they might tell you 5's completely verbatim 10's title and why verbatim with the explanation summarized. Learn all of it verbatim it will help you immensely, I just graduated from Integrad last week and it's intense but knowing them before gets a big stress off your chest going in
