I give Kai all the props he's definitely earned them but that wave Peter Mel caught behind the bowl was far and away the most incredible ride of that session. These guys are all unbelievable.
It's really nice to see Kai his brother ridge and Ian wash represent Maui in a very respectful way they don't lead with pride hostility and negativity I'm 50 years old now and they brought my passion and surfing back to know we have awesome surfers like this that just love to surf and have wonderful attitudes along with Shane Dorian who I grew up with.
I'm a swimmer, not a surfer. I love Kai Lenny. He's an all-around great athlete and cool person. He inspires me. I think a lot of who Kai is, is due to his solid and stable family background.
It’s so satisfying to watch people do things that they love. It basically gives u motivation to stand up and do something that u always found amusing and interesting. Beautiful series!!!!
It’s cool to see Ian still charging hard . I remember seeing him captain on a boat in San Diego taking Pete Mel to Cortez Bank way back before he was a ledge !
I looked up that Ian Walsh fall further and I am glad to see him okay. Didn’t see him explain it like this, and he 100% sent himself into another dimension. His experience in getting held down like that is what made him not drown.
This guy is blessed with true happiness you can just tell from his vibe. There is something about conquering your fears and excelling on the other side of it.
Brave men for sure. I've been around guys like Kai before and they are a blast to be around. A lot of energy and funny, they make doing things so much fun.
Awesome episode, Thanks Red Bull Surf for putting this series out! We need more surfer spotlights IMO... Had no idea Ian has been riding Big Waves long enough, that little Kai watched him as a kid. Show idea for Ian: "The Ten Dimensions of Ian Walsh"
Thanks Kai,Ian ajd Ridge for sharing that unreal experience. Its one that ill never do but to experience through your actions and narrative makes it a realistic experience for an old dog like myself.Keep it up. Where are we going next?
Two things.... Kai is drawing the same lines as Mike Stewart, so that's insane exceptionally, exceptionally x 1000 rare ocean knowledge/instinct....... and Peter Mel surfed the best wave ever ridden, hands down, look at 11:50. Hands down.
Those huge boards look a bit clunky though. I guess you need that paddle speed to get into the wave? In that case I'd prefer to see a tow in with a short board
