Jeff is a day trader who specializes in the S&P futures, and predominately trades a mean-reversion strategy which is built upon data and statistical probabilities.
Across his 20+ year trading career, Jeff has also been heavily involved in the process of developing and deploying algorithmic strategies-but slightly less these days.
In this interview we talk about Jeff’s prop days, risks of being a one-man-business, automated trading, specializing, statistics, and more.
From this conversation, I think you’ll pick up on the underlying theme, which is all about building confidence in your strategy and then being able to size up when you have an edge.

This is truly Brilliant advice from Jeff, no BS, this is what traders need to do, specialise is a small number of select stocks - 15-25 if your a pro. I've been employing this strategy for over 6 months & I'm loving the results its been delivering for me. What a fantastic pod cast! & Yes, I agree long live - Aaron Fifield his interviews have helped me massively. As a father of 2 girls I am very grateful.

Note to self: Range trader, vwap for target, mean reversion, trend trading is not suitable for day trading index futures. 75-80% of the time, due to algo trading index futures mean reverts. Try to predict the range that is developing and fade it. Yesterday's high /low are important levels. Build confidence with screen time and by selecting a strategy that suits your personality and then try to grow size quickly. Specialize with one product and one pattern.

thanks,,,,,,,I've learned a lot here.......everybody finds what works for them.....i have different system....mine is lazy mans way of making money,,,,,,I scan for dividend stocks over 5 % making new highs,,,,,i buy a few hundred shares,,,,,when i make over 50 cents in price i sell them,,,if i have to hold for a while i get dividend for holding them,,,,,its working for now,,,,,but the market change so we have to sometimes change with them....again thanks.....

Great interview. I'm a retail systematic trader. I design and develop the systems, deploy them, I do everything on my own. And Jeff's point, that if something happens to you, you're basically out of business. I actually haven't thought about this seriously.

The learned skills, maturity rules mentality, that Mr Davis is speaking IS the core of experienced traders, learning what makes the wheel turn is the psychology of the market you're never a shark unless commanding the stocks ($$$) that makes the market move and you actually have more freedom to move than they do because, to go unnoticed he must split up his buys to not let on (stealthy volume to build a position, depending on the stock is a dead giveaway)... I can run alongside the train in cover of the forest while the train is confined to the tracks and spewing smoke everywhere he goes... watch the shark, be a Remora and stay close enough to eat while he feeds on the more visible and careless of your fellows - eat or be eaten !

Jeff is very knowledgeable, and i liked his trading interview, however i noticed he is a Trump supporter and that stopped me from following him on Twitter. I will never understand why anyone would want to choose such a vile and pathetic clown as a President for the USA.
