A relentless search on sky scanner for cheap flights during a day off work yielded return flights from London Stansted - Eindhoven for £45 return, which isn’t bad in the post-covid world.
We depart a gloomy Stansted on a filthy Malta Air (Maltese registered Ryanair) Boeing 737-800 and make the short hop across the channel to The Netherlands. From there we enjoy a short trip onboard the loco hauled Eindhoven - Den Haag NS Intercity service, and ride it to the next stop of Tilburg, where we enjoy a half pint on a turntable at a repurposed former engine roundhouse!
We swiftly return to Eindhoven and explore around the Centrum to take in the sights, including the Sint-Catharinakerk and the Philips Light Tower, before heading back to the airport and back to Blighty (unfortunately).
