Day Trip to Zion National Park

We travel to Zion National Park for the day for a drive-through and to test out our car trip meal equipment. After traveling all the way through the park, we head homeward. We stop at a park for lunch and enjoy a delicious warm meal before heading home.

Zion is my #1 place to play, relax, distress, rejuvenate, whatever. I was blessed to grow-up in its shadow. Wish I could go back there, but now enjoying new adventures in Richland, WA.

Here is a coincidence...I left Richland several years ago to move back to Utah! My youngest child was in high school then and met and married a Richland boy and lives there still! LOL!

Wow! I started first grade in Richland back in 1954! I remember the sage brush terrain, the pastel army housing apartment buildings- ours was pink - and a trip to Mt Rainier NP. Dad was in the army, then we were off …2nd grade in Germany.

Thankyou Pam and Jim, this was just a special video for me. Zion is #1 park in my opinion, we see so much wildlife, beautiful scenery, and have met some very nice folks. 1st week of May is a favorite time. Bryce is #2..we're going to visit Zion again soon. Blessings.

My boyfriend and I rode motorcycles thru the tunnel. I remember the signs saying do not stop. But there was no traffic, so yep, we stopped 😂. We took photos through the carved windows. Of course this was back in the late 90s. Less people visited Zion then. We had so much fun.

i burn one end of a plastic straw to seal it, then fill it up with spices i need for camping. seal the other end after filling, just keep it long so they can be used until there's just enough for one more meal, then throw it away. its one way to reuse them and makes storing easy. i also reuse old medication bottles for bigger things or to refill straws while on the road.. lol. this looked like a great day trip!

I remember stopping at the windows, too. I was short and my dad had to lift me up to see. Oh yeh, there's Checkerboard Mesa! My favorite in Zion. This was fun and brought back memories from childhood vacations and the trip when I took my kids and my parents there.

Ooohhh! How I love Zion! Haven’t been there for 20 years, dang it. Thank you for that wonderful trip and for sharing about the geology! I did not know about the Erg, and the wind patterns on Checkerboard Mesa! Fascinating! What a beautiful country we live in! Here in rural Maryland, our rolling piedmont is covered in spring flowering trees.
