If I can only listen to one “kpop group” for the rest of my life, it’d be Day6. Their discography is amazing. Props to the girl that recommended the live ver. As much as I love the mvs, i’ll always prefer Day6 live perfs just because they always add a bit mooore than just listening to the studio ver of their songs.

Day6 is my second favorite group.. I think it’s just amazing how there is no song I dislike even though they have so many songs.

The super band is here. What i like the most is that day6 members can all sing. That brings more art to the song because of different vocals. They produced, write songs.

These guys can all sing and play instruments. So talented. Wonpils voice is my favourite (piano), but Jay too ( glasses).

The thing about Day6 that amazes me the most is that they don't have a single bad song, literally, not a single one and i say this while not being a hardcore fan of them, ALL of their songs are bops, period.

Actually on thing that is wrong is that bands in korea are actually very liked. What she meant maybe was that idol bands specifically don't get as much traction? But "underground" ones are very liked and probably even more than any famous idol. But on the other hand, when it comes to outside of korea it's true that bands overall do not get half the traction "dance" groups get.

I think bands are just very niche. The reason kpop is so called pop is because it's what's popular and appeals to the general public. Non-idol bands are relatively popular with the general public (especially older ones) and there is an "underground" scene for a lot of these bands. Kpop actually gets a bit of a bad rep with the general public...there are a lot of music snobs that think kpop/idol music is too manufactured and doesn't portray real artistry so there's a good fraction of the public that listens to k-hiphop, k-rnb, k-indie, k-rock. As for idol groups, I think they suffer from the fact that there are literally a million idols at this point so are unable to gain traction most of the time. The 2000's and early 2010's was during a time where bands, artists, idol groups etc were able to guest on variety shows. This was the main way they could put themselves out there for the general public. At some point korean variety shows started to change and have had fewer guests, especially fewer NEW guests. They really only invite already popular artists nowadays. Or idols have their own variety shows but fan's are really the only ones that watch these and they don't get new people watching. This is why several of these groups' members have become successful TV personalities. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk ;P These are some really popular bands and some of my personal favorites. - Boohwal (1980's)- dominated the music scene doing heavy metal. To this day their songs are iconic and legendary. - Buzz (2003) - captures early 2000's rock and rock ballad sentiments. Their vocalist is Min Kyunghoon and has become a successful tv personality on Knowing Brothers. - FTisland (2007) - They are an idol band that mostly do rock, some metal, some ballads, some random upbeat songs. They are also very popular in Japan as a rock band. - CNBlue (2009) - also an idol band. They do more pop rock imo but also branch out to other genres as most idol groups do. - Busker Busker (2011) - This is one of the most popular bands and loved by the general public. There's not a single person in Korea that doesn't know their song Cherry Blossom Ending. They often do OST's (songs for dramas) as well. - Hyukoh (2014) - They are band who does mostly indie rock and folk. They are one of the most popular in their genre. They were already popular in the "underground" scene and garnered general public attention when the band participated in the korean show Infinite Challenge's Music festival.
