Soooooo.... After a few days in Bishop and staying in a hotel and at the hostel we decided to rent a car and make a side trip to Zion National Park. Some strong hikers that are around us were chased out by the storms and we have no desire for that kind of misery. So side trip it is! First time in Las Vegas for myself and of course the Australian as well, it's an intense place for sure! Next stop Zion! Also this is a good excuse to try to put on weight.

After finishing the JMT I helped drive back home.....all my god, it was scary as hell. I felt like I was driving super fast, then look down and I’m going like 60. After like an hour or two it got much better but that first little bit was terrifying. And that was just after hiking for 18 days and like 2 days traveling there so I didn’t drive for like 20 days and that’s what it felt like

It is a low snow year. Unfortunately for you, it was also a late snow year. You might want to consider flipping up to Burney and hiking back south as well if it just isn't safe when you go back up. People who skip sections of trail with the idea of coming back after they reach Canada rarely come back and finish. I get the feeling that not finishing would eat at you down the road.

Be sure to check out Angel's Landing in Zion and go early as they get traffic jams in certain spots. You could get snowshoes for the soft snow but you won't make the mileage you're used to and route finding becomes problematic. I'm sure you'll figure it out while having a good time!! Great Trek!!

Adventures lead to other adventures. It must be fun to hear other stories of the trail. I’d call that Charger “Gold” not yellow. You don’t do yellow, you just smell yellow.
