Hi Dominique, I’ve been following your videos for about a year now and it’s nice to see you’re still uploading videos about the lab so more people know about us. I can’t believe it’s already been 6 months since I graduated. I work in the general lab and so many things have happened to me since I started 😂 for example I had 3 MTPs in the span of 1 week 😮 😅 but as stressful as the job can be sometimes, I just love it. It’s a love hate relationship ❤

Congrats on reaching your 6 month milestone! I bet it's been stressful, but you're gaining so much experience in blood bank. Before you know it, you'll be so confident in those situations!!

Hi Dominique How are you liking the lab so far? I’m a student getting my MLT but sometimes I get disheartened hearing other lab workers and how they’re leaving etc. I want to be a traveler eventually.

I currently enjoy it! I think healthcare is experiencing a shift for all professions, so it’s honestly what you make it. Traveling would be great chance to gain a lot of experience!

After a night shift do you just not sleep so you can do things on your day off?
@domilarae
@domilarae Год назад
It honestly depends! If I had enough sleep the day before, then I stay awake for traveling. But, I sleep the day away if I have no plans lol

I always here bad things when it comes to pay and salary for a MLT can you please give me a salary range for someone who jus graduated lets say from a program and is finding a job right after graduating hard?
@domilarae
@domilarae Год назад
It really depends on where you live. Even the pay range in US varies greatly by region
@Liberation822
@Liberation822 Год назад
So you're working Micro and Blood Bank?
@domilarae
@domilarae Год назад
Yes. It’s 1 tech micro/bb, 1 tech heme/coag, and 1 tech chem on my night shift
@Liberation822
@Liberation822 Год назад
@@domilarae Is that because of the shortage or the location is smaller so staffing isnt needed. Sorry for all the questions.
@domilarae
@domilarae Год назад
@@Liberation822 it’s a bit of both lol. At full staffing, we would have 4 techs (one in each dept). But it’s also a medium sized hospital, so 3 is okay. But 2 techs would be considered critically understaffed. In comparison, some hospitals might actually have 2 techs on nights as normal staffing - if that makes sense. I don’t mind the questions!
