My ex’s mum had SO MANY traits like this. She made him drop out of university 6 weeks in because she couldn’t bear to have him away. She made him repeat Year 6 because she “wasn’t ready for him to grow up” and made him repeat Year 13 for the same reason. She made him ask permission to leave the house, would kiss him on the lips borderline passionately, and even kept a baby monitor in his room (and my ex is a 20 YEAR OLD MAN). If he wanted to spend time with me she’d scream at him down the phone and tell him “I don’t even know who you are anymore, you’re so cruel, you have no respect for me”. She got flu once and made him sit by her bedside and stroke her hair and feed her. His mum has a husband and a daughter but they don’t get treated like this. That isn’t even the half of it; I’d need HOURS to tell all the stories, but it’s actually disgusting. She’d always make him sleep in a separate bed to me, but would regularly try and get into his bed and cuddle him as a 20 YEAR OLD MAN. He didn’t even see a problem with it, and that’s the weirdest thing. Either way, I’m out of it now, and will conduct a formal assessment of my future partner’s mother to check if she’s a psychopath or not, because I CANNOT handle this again.
This is actually a very common thing sadly. It falls under something called 'Covert Incest or 'Emotional Incest." In the case of the video, the abuse is extremely overt and obvious. However, Covert Incest is more hidden, manipulative and indirect yet just as damaging..severely so. I speak from experience as I am a victim of it myself and only realised in recent years. I'm so sorry that you experienced this, as well as your ex. It is such a damaging thing and I wish you well. I truly do.

I know🥺 I love seeing good dads out there!🥰 I never had one, & my son's biological father is awful. He doesn't help out financially, but most importantly, doesn't see or even talk to him :( I've tried so hard to foster a relationship between them, but I realized I can't force it if he just doesn't want to:( I've finally let go, & just pray for a good man to come into my son's life. Even if it's just a good male role model💜 its always best for every child to have a mother & father figure in their life! I pray for his father daily & hope he turns around. When this man was so proud of his daughter- I can’t stop crying. It warms my heart so much..This man has unknowingly raised and encouraged so many kids for the better when their parents diddint.
