This is NOT a good person, and the proof is out there. People wanted to support this person because they're 'trans and a minority' yada yada, but she is a PRIME example of that being a BAD reason to support somebody. People need to be supported based on merit, not identity. And to call somebody transphobic because they're CRITICAL of you as a PERSON (nothing to do with trans) is the height of insanity and deflection.
god i cringe so hard whenever anyone uses their minority as a shield to do whatever the fck they want. it discredits all real trans people and makes people who actually face real issues afraid to talk about it because people will just cry that its fake or attention seeking.

I mean, if someone is going to use people like Jane as a justification to hate *all of us* rather than just judging her as an individual, they were clearly bigoted to begin with, but that's no reason to give them more ammo. I'm so tired. I think Jane needs more time away from the internet, not just Twitter, but social media as a whole. She should take a break from DbD, maybe get a therapist or someone else professional who can help her because this is not normal in the slightest. Identifying this hard with a ficticious character isn't good because she's forgetting who she is. Sometimes it even seems like she forgets that there are real people behind the screens.
no to be honest i dont think its necessarily her behaviour or mental state. its impossible to tell cause from effect. (effect: toxic. cause: --> jealousy? --> personal dislike of comp gameplay in pub? --> etc.)
I'm in a discord server with a bunch of people who believe theyre genuinely characters from various media (I'm honestly in the server just for a friend). they'll talk about how they miss their 'friends' (other characters from the same media) and their 'memories' from the media and they all have in their bios 'if you're a double of me, don't interact with me'. they constantly say they aren't delusional but they very clearly are and I don't mean that with malice.

I’ve known narcissistic people like her and they’re always hostile & play victim and do whatever it takes to put the heat on you instead of them because they refuse to acknowledge they’re in the wrong. I had sympathy for Jane the first time round but She has not changed at all. And Anyone that believed the change happened over night that was their mistake, Change is a slow and uphill battle that is constant. As the term transphobic is thrown around so quickly and with such ease that it will end up losing all meaning. I personally have no problem with someone being who they are, be that Gay,Lesbian,Bi,Trans or anything else, that is their choice and right and i will gladly respect them and try to use the correct pronouns(if I know which pronouns they use), HOWEVER when you use YOUR life choices (edit cause I see that it sounds a bit rude, Example being vegan, which is completely fine before someone gets angry) as a weapon to attack and harm others then you (the aggressor) are the problem not the victim.
While I agree with your message, the only thing I don't agree with is the idea that sexuality is a choice. It's not, & if it were, I don't think the majority of us would go through what we do.

I also remember how they said they even want to rework the "3-gening system" because of her when the issue is the killer (and Knight) in combo with gen perks/addons, not the basic 3-gens strat. What I find really funny is that I know people who have gone up against Jane Romero when they are playing killer and they DO force 3 gens as Skull Merchant, but they will complain about you sweating as killer if they are playing survivor.
I feel like Jane needs to just step away from pvp games in general. She can’t self reflect because there’s another person involved she can blame rather than look at her mistakes. She’s kinda feeding herself the toxicity and it’s clearly taking a huge toll on her. I’m not excusing her actions because there is no excuse, but she needs to get offline and find some help. Nah. Being called "transphobic" isn't the death blow people act like it is. At least, not anymore. Too many people on that side of the isle like to use "transphobic" as the fall back for when they can't win a debate or literally anyone disagrees with them. It's been thrown around so much, most people don't take it as the "career killer" they want it to be. It's just a bunch of eye rolling and people thinking "look, someone can't take criticism".

She uses her status as a trans woman as a cudgel against people who even moderately disagree with her takes. I hate to say it too but I put partial blame on the community as a whole because most people in it seem to enable Jane in acting this way. There were big content creators who defended and even indulged her negative behavior during the whole "crazy" debacle. It's like you said one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch, and Jane needs to be held accountable when shes wrong.
it's crazy how one person can singlehandedly devalue the term "transphobic" in a matter of minutes she's a terrible representation of any community she is a part of, and i especially feel bad when she's somebody's first interaction with a trans individual because... that's a really difficult first impression to overcome. thankfully the dbd community has a lot of LGBTQ+ folk to widen the perspective and shake any ignorance in an actual positive way

Remember when she faced backlash and said she was taking a break, and was gone for only a handful of days? True healing doesnt happen overnight and I hope she really stops using twitter and social media so much. I pray for her to get the help she needs and maybe one day after she proves she has changed, she could try content creation again.

This is why I've been saying to think critically about how you try to alter your personality and behavior towards others. If you're a "trans" individual, great!, I wish you all the best with your life choices and hope you find happiness, much the same way I would wish happiness and joy on anyone and everyone else. But if being "trans" is the only "redeeming quality" you focus on yourself and you push on others...you're just looking for attention and trying to make others out to be villains in your "main character story." Just because someone beats you in a video game doesn't mean "OMG you're transphobic!" Or "OMG you're racist for killing me!" The level of entitlement and scapegoating your own problems to elevate yourself to somehow be on some grandiose high horse is...absolutely amazing and flabberghasting. How do people fall prey and victim to suffocating around these pompous and arrogant "cloud chasers?" Everyone has to be a White Knight? Being "trans" doesn't absolve you from criticism and being subjected to the same judgment as anyone else in all of mankind. And during this exchange between Laser and Jane, every single thing she projected upon him...is basically just an admission of guilt (politics have entered DbD???).

As someone who used to follow her for her positive mindset in the DBD community, she changed A LOT. I am not sure what made her take that turn but I had to unfollow and remove myself from her circle. She has played the victim a lot and especially after unnecessary callouts on people, she can't handle it when people disagrees with her. It's very sad. I think she needs to disassociate herself with the community as a whole as clearly it's not good for her mental health.
I was following her and liked some replies about her needing help and apparently she is going through each of her followers profiles, looking at their likes, and blocking them. This is so obsessive--I never said one thing to her on Twitter and going through a stranger's likes is borderline insanity.
Ive only had one experience with Jane. It was good. She was wholesome and chatted for a while. But my god the stuff I have her say on twitter is insane. As a trans man this just infuriates me, I hate that she will over exaggerate things and call transphobia on every that doesn’t go her way. She is making the trans community look bad when we are already dealing with so much hate online and in the real world. People will look at her behavior and think all trans people act like her. She’s just childish and needs to get offline if she’s genuinely getting her feelings hurt over these things.

I'm sure this'll just be deleted, but your detail about criticizing the identity instead of the person has a slight flaw based on experience. Not all, but quite a few people who identify as trans, clearly do it as a defense. It's been noted on multiple occasions, there's bad faith actors on both sides and quite often real, authentic criticism is thrown into 'you're just transphobic, because you're attacking a trans person, you wouldn't be doing this if they weren't trans'. Similar to how in some cases there's people who clearly aren't jewish in the authentic or genetic sense, clearly not practicing the faith, clearly not following orthodoxy, and clearly breaking every single rule of judaism, yet once criticized, will accuse you of anti-semetism, because they converted twenty years prior or some shit. None of this is to say you're wrong, it's more meant to explain why some people would attack the identity instead of the person. They expect they're gonna be accused anyway, so they're just going there right away. (though there's also plenty of bad faith actors who will do it just to be a rude bastard, because they want them 'edge points' )

You're right, there are definitely some bad apples who hide behind the identity because they know the Internet has a soft spot for them 100% However, I still don't want to attack the identity because it can feel really invalidating to people who really are trans. I'm not trying to hurt everyone involved because of a handful of bad people. If people want to hide behind identities, that's fine. I'm still gonna attack the personality regardless in hopes that people will overlook the identity and see the person for who they really are (not saying Jane is like this lol. Just an example)

Also I think that someone who hides behind a lie to be able to have that defence mechanism would only end up "happier" if you do attack their identity. It'd be kind of like feeding what they were baiting. If you attack their personality alone, they might still try to twist it into any phobia or racism, but they'll have less ground to base those on and might have to face the truth of "You're just an AH, that's why we don't like you." It'd actually be reaching them more directly than if you were to attack the shield they're using.
Honestly not sure I agree with the idea that the isms accusations are as much of a career ender as some would think these days, due in large part to bad actors just throwing them around to deflect consequences or criticism. Which I say is a good thing, the mere accusation of something shouldn't be a career ending thing unless it can be proven. Should still be taken seriously in the majority of time it is done in good faith but having just the accusation be career ending is too abusable by bad actors. Sure, in that situation, pulling the transphobic card is easy. Mostly when you are such a terrible person, no matter what gender you think you are. When I had a bad time in my life, I used my own homosexuality pretty often like that to pull it as a victim card and I'm still ashamed about that I did that, even years later now. Even now, after bettering myself. Also, call me transphobic all you want, but calling someone by their actual "pronoun", instead of their made up one is nothing transphobic at all. Calling them slurrs like the f word with double g is transphobic. Accepting them but not going with their believes is not, ffs. While this is just another prime example of Dead by Daylight community being the worst ever, the Laser guy which I have never heared of before this, seems to be really nice. Guess, there are still some glimmers of hope for this lost game..
