Thanks for letting me know! Yes they are indeed the SSD chips, I just went through iFixit's disassembly guide after you mentioned it. The skin is a fantastic piece of artwork! It's evokes a lot of curiosity and leads to so many conversations with people!
I was just looking at the same skin for the M1 Max. I think it's quite a shame that the 'main' sticker doesn't go on the bottom and that there is another for the screen. It would have been more realistic, but I know it is more boring. It's putting me off that when the screen is open, you would see the components of the base of the laptop
Actually I see this as an absolute win, when the lid is closed the skin accurately represents and shows off the internals of the MacBook Pro, and when one opens the screen, it is more visible to those around you, it's a great conversation starter. Having teardown skin on the bottom case would mean that neither you nor anyone else would see the beautiful inner workings of the MacBook Pro M1 Max, and the screen components aren't nearly as interesting as the M1 chip and the motherboard. What they could have done though is include a teardown skin for the areas around the keyboard and the palm rests, as it would go really well with the teardown skin for the trackpad, but for some reason unbeknownst to us the do not
