Yeah, even as a kid when I didn’t know the people behind the screen, it always felt a tad odd and empty at times that tfs behind the scenes is mostly just represented by 2 people Obviously as an adult, I get why but I REALLY hope we get taka in on one of these or at the minimum a taka special like this one And maybe even for episode 60 a full main cast creator commentary So lani, masako, Megami, Kaiser and taka for once 😭😭😭😭😭 Maybe even Gan and faulerro? 👉🏿👈
With how much Kaiser has been cringing at his own Editing throughout this whole commentary, I can feel him dying inside hearing Masako's comments on his editing 😂
I liked how, when Abridged Goku went Super Saiyan, he’s still legitimately pissed at Frieza, but still has funny lines. The official Goku can still be a goofball, even in a fight, but I remember that when he went Super Saiyan 3, Schemmel’s voice was significantly deeper and Goku officially stopped playing games. It really makes me curious as to what the Abridged direction would’ve been if it continued into the Buu saga.
Masako is the freaking best Goku ever. He makes it so funny and just naaaaaail(s) it. Whenever I read the manga hear his voice now, that's how iconic it is. Masako, you are truly my favorite part of DBZA
I'm really glad Lawrence is getting to add his two zenis to these commentaries, especially in this episode where he gets the spotlight. Can't wait to see him do the same for episode 60!

Hearing and seeing Masako switch between his Goku/Gohan voice and his normal accent is so awesome! His Super Saiyan scream in this episode was good. But it did get much better later in the series and movies. Sometimes, his screams was absolutely bone-chilling!
It isn't surprising that you took inspiration from Masako for Goku becoming enraged, but that's a fascinating detail. 5:30 I kinda wish that was left in!!! 32:00 Didn't they explicitly say in canon that they changed the one-revival-at-a-time rule for Porunga after going to the new Namek because of Freeza's invasion? Like, they had it in place because they believed in not disturbing the natural order, but were forced to reevaluate their views after suffering a genocide and realizing they needed a failsafe.
In terms of Goku being able to fly the ship and Gohan can’t, I think there’s a pretty reasonable explanation for that. It’s all about confidence, which Goku has in abundance and Gohan sorely lacks. The ship isn’t that difficult to fly, it’s just that Gohan thinks it is. He’s worried about making a mistake and getting everyone killed. Goku… isn’t.
I've been wondering why you don't do the commentary with them, but I guess time zones and personal lives are a thing. Either way, super happy to see this, and would love to see more DBZA commentary from ya.
Thanks for your take on this episode, while I love hearing Kaiser and Lani break everything down, it's great to hear things from the other perspectives of the rest of the people who made such a great series.
I always appreciate how TFS's internal logic dictates that "Everyone killed by Freeza and his men" would inevitably encapsulate hundreds of worlds. Even if we're considering a sometimes arbitrary resurrection time-frame, I can't imagine the Frieeza Force hasn't been actively conquering worlds. Now all of those planets are re-populated with their old inhabitants. If this series ever comes back again, we can hope to see something about these repercussions.

Ngl, that outtake of Goku going "MMMMMM!" would have been brilliant imho because it would have played into the Goku finding the Muffin Button and his reaction there as well while still being the Serious Goku who is about to have fun avenging Krillin.
32:10 In DBZ Kakarot, they have a quick scene with Kid Buu where they realize they can't use the Namekian Dragon Balls to wish back everyone on Earth, but Elder Morri says they've been upgraded to accommodate the wish.
On gohan being able to fly the ship, it’s the confidence gap. Gohan is smart enough to know how bad it could turn out and so isn’t confident in trying. Where as goku doesn’t have that problem.
Dr. Briefs gave Goku instructions on the ship if I recall, and I think Gohan didn't want to press buttons he didn't know the function of just to be on the safe side.
So that wish to bring back everyone killed by freeza and his men apparently had no time frame since Nappa was brought back, which means EVERYONE killed by Freeza and his men were brought back. The saiyans were revived in the middle of space where planet vegeta used to be and died again, but Bardock's friends who were killed off-world by dodoria and zarbon are probably alive now
Unironically, Masako is my absolute favorite Goku... which shouldn't be surprising given that DBZA is my favorite form of dragon ball, and that I'm a 33 year old man absolutely broken that you guys won't cover Buu (... buuttt HFIL is good enough to keep me going). That being said, Masako, you should cover the episodes similarly to the other guys, pausing more frequently when you want to talk, it gets distracting, but honestly, I couldn't make it through the entire video because there's too much going on. I think I speak for everyone when I say 1) I wouldn't mind sitting for an extra 20 minutes of video, of just you talking without the episode going on and 2) I want to hear more of your input and commentary on these episodes. Hope you're back again man (and hopefully you pause the episode so we hear what you have to say)! Much love
I like how it's obvious you haven't seen the video the others made for this when you were recording. Possibly due to it not existing yet, but I like to think you wanted to do this without anything else on your mind. They did answer some of the questions you had in their video

I thought Krillin still screaming was explained that since he died on Namek and didnt have a like ... galactic level soul IP address they had trouble finding him. Vegeta would go in with a hefty record, and was from a higher order of galactic civilization. So Krillin was in some space afterlife void
Now I want an animated docudrama about the goings on at Team Four Star with everyone's real voices, but they're voicing each other. Except Kaiser. Kaiser should not only provide his own voice, but he should also be the only one aware that the others' voices are different, and it drives him crazy.
As I recall, they did mention in the Buu saga that they upgraded the namekian Dragon Balls specifically due to Freeza's action. After your species gets genocided once, might wanna have a backup in the future.
I always thought of the opening to "The Six Million Dollar Man" as Frieza was rebuilt - We can rebuild him. We have the technology. Better than he was before; better, stronger, faster

Masako is so impressive with these voices. They sound literally nothing like his actual voice, it actually suprised me when he switched to goku at the beginning.
Gohan may have had the smarts to figure out how to fly the ship, but he doesn't have Goku's empty headed self assuredness. And I love that Goku, the "dumbass", calls Frieza out on not being able to tell the time. And I just had a thought regarding death having no consequences in the series. As much as I don't like GT, it would have been the perfect wrap up to that problem in universe. XD
It's ok Masako, I used to work in Pizza made diff types of American pizza and got the chance to do more classic Italian pizza.. I've seen some crazy stuff get tossed onto pizzas and I will say Pineapple on Pizza? Is super tame and very acceptable. Also super glad to see you did your own reaction here!
For about @27:20 I like to think King Kai's reach to someone is through how much energy they have or if they are conscious perhaps. Because yeah he should have been able to tell Frieza and Goku were still alive and maybe warn people. But maybe after being severely out of energy or unconscious (or both) he just couldn't sense them at all.

7:31 true but goku flew a saiyan ship as like, a baby. im sure that had SOMETHING to do with it, especially if thats where the muffin button joke came from
nothing like his Goku voice? I can easily hear traces of Goku in there. it's not like his normal voice is incredible deep, or something else that makes it very noticeable different to his Goku
