Your videos actually managed to give me a unique insight into Snyder's work that was apperently always there. As someone that shares the same political convictions and thematic artistic interests as you, I never liked Snyder's work because of the edgy 13 year old isms of his work. It's fascinating to see someone that always liked Snyder and didn't just come around to him. Your video essays do the unique thing of challenging my preconceived notions about media instead of just existing to validate them which I usually look for. And instead of driving me away, I'm just more fascinated than ever in your work. Because it's just so good.
Came into expecting a simple video on Dc. To get a complex look at the landscape of how art stands in society and a look at influences of art through generations. Good video mate. Lots and Lots to talk about after watching this video.
For as weird and honestly, kinda bad that WW84 is, I can at least appreciate that (as far as interviews go) it's the unfiltered, complete vision of how Patty Jenkins believes to be Wonder Woman, and I'll take that over say, 6 other Black Widows or Shang Chi, that promised a lot but ended up feeling like the same aesthetically gray, bland and homogeneous chapters in the MCU
I'd watch Suicide Squad a 1000 times before I ever watched Birds of Prey a second time. It was a disjointed movie that had the ability to be boring and hyperkinetic at the same time.
So, speaking as someone who is leans right politically, I’m just here to say I respect your honestly regarding your viewpoints and perspective. We may disagree but I feel as though we’d at least be able to have a discussion about our views without it turning into a name calling troll contest
Brilliant discussion! I think there's a lot to be said about WB's treatment of Snyder and their properties in taking risks and telling stories that the superhero medium can lend itself to telling (such as those political ideas that you spoke about).
It’s a damn crime this guy doesn’t have 500,000+ subscribers. By far the most artistic articulate video essays on the tube and I’m proud to be in the first 10,000..
The way you managed to go off on a huge tangent about Dune, almost to the point where you forget the entire video is about DC, only to bring it back around and have it all work cohesivly and without a hitch is mind-blowingly impressive
Have you seen Josh McNamee's video on Suicide Squad? I think you'd enjoy it. I enjoyed plenty of the Lynch Dune, but I loved the early 2000s SciFi miniseries of Dune and it's Children of Dune follow up even more. The great thing about Animation is how you need less human Sacrifice to make art that is even more transcendent and out then then anything Live Action can do. And it's mostly that people fully grasp that. You're definitely someone who love the shit out of all four of Ikuhara's original Anime, and then maybe also Reveue Starlight and Wonder Egg Priority. The thing about comparing Anime to Jordonsky's Dune is that the individuality destroying transcendence he saw as the Happy ending is the goal of the Villains in Neon Genesis Evangelion and a few other Anime. But don't get me started on Eva, my feeling there are way to complicated.
I wish dc comic puts out some dc things that they don’t talk about like “section eights”, people should read comic and how bizarre these set of characters are. Until then DCEU can finally have a stepping ground now.
@@TheWormsHole I’m a wee bit embarrassed by how obvious that was but thank you. I really enjoy your work, man. I started with the Sopranos videos but I pretty much listen to anything you put out at this point, even on topics I know little to nothing about.
So all of the marvel characters are kinda linked to each other..So said my brother in law..I couldn’t give a flying f#ck about marvel, D.C characters in movies,,I thought… I’m sick of comic hero movies..They are lazy movie and story making..About new stories that can be made into movies..This means characters that don’t have magic powers.. Not the same stories rotating like the dead years ago Star Wars gig and leaving all script writing to marvel or D.C.. There will be a time when people will shun the latest superhero movie and sci-fi retell ..So I say search for the new now. Before it’s demanded..
