I love the Marines livery...puts me in mind of seeing them providing air support in Vietnam War history videos. I've built a few Phantoms over the years when I was model building. Beautiful.
Love your videos on this aircraft. This aircraft brings back childhood memories of the F-4C and F-4E that were stationed at the Air Guard Base at Fort Wayne, Indiana. I mostly fly the E-Model and doing intercepts of commercial traffic. Looking forward to future videos on this bird. I fly on the PC. Phantoms Phorever!!!!
I like the Airport .... reminds me of M*A*S*H ......... .. I get that this is "LIPB" , but there are also 2 Payware versions ......... So there are 3 different options ... Which one are you using in the Video ...... And the F-4 Phantom was a Day 1 purchase for me
@@Pilot0083 Well quantum and I have talked about this in great detail and we think that DC designs is not doing well and not spending enough time on projects. There is no excuse for these PS3 textures inside the cockpit.
This is such an amazing aircraft. The only issue I have is my TV mode I can only see a quarter of the video feed. I heard some don't have issues. Just curious if there is a simple fix.
This doesnt come close even to CJ Simulations Typhoon let alone the Leonardo in terms of detail. DC Designs brings the same boring dated textures over and over again and it takes 2 years to update them or get binned like the Concorde which has the worst detailed cockpit ever. Can forgive once or twice but not the same every time. For the price it is not worth it.
I kinda have to agree with you. Dc takes so long to put out jets. And then they are a little featureless. Idk. I’m always happy to have them as it’s almost all I’ll use in msfs but they could crank them out fast that would be nice. Like where is the sr72 and the b2. S
The Concordes getting an update in the next month or so … updated textures etc! Dean said himself he’s not very good at the whole interior designing etc and mentioned yesterday he was ganna hire some for it
@@Pilot0083 thats great to hear. I am sure the future dlc will be way better texture wise. As planes they are fine just small texture stuff need more work.
This thing flies like absolute garbage. I’m shocked the reviews are coming out saying it’s good. It won’t even fly straight. It’s either climbing like crazy or falling out of the sky.
Hey pilot, you should check out the new pmdg liveries honestly I dont think they are anything too special like pmdg made them sound, they are just normal liveries, they did not even bother to add detail to the inside, not to mention they drop fps by a lot
Well.... as excited as I was.... I am somehow...not that stunned as I thought I would be. But I will have to get this bird somehow on the Xbox. Dc can't be the only Phantom dev on Xbox, i hope. 😅
DC bailed on us on xbox by yielding the c17 to a dev who refuses to work with microsoft marketplace. I was so excited for that plane. And now i need to buy a pc to have it in the sim? Not to mention the overpromising on their dev timeline😢
The 3d modelling isn't even great, the nose cone shapes are totally inaccurate. Very disappointed and probably won't pick this up despite the Phantom being my favourite jet of all time
Watching your comment about the RAT…the RAT was extended on the port side of the fuselage just in front of the vertical stab. McD “guaranteed” it would supply basic electrical to the jet for 90 minutes or something like that while one was supposed to land as soon as possible. We had an electrical problem overhead Gibraltar at night on our Desert Storm deployment in 1991. We had to deploy the RAT IAW the checklist but we’re so concerned with missing the war that my front seater and I decided to not say anything about it and drove on to our wartime destination…about 8 hours away. Only when the sun came up over Egypt did our flight lead see the RAT hanging out and asked us us if we were OK. We said we were fine and that was the end of the discussion. We landed successfully after a 14 hour sortie and the only ones that were irritated was our maintenance troops who had no idea what to do with so many hours on a deployed emergency RAT. I’m hoping that future MSFS models will properly show the extended RAT!
They GIB (guy in back) is a RIO (radar intercept officer). Target acquisition and probably some nav function. I think they also had some ability to manage flight controls if needed. GREAT video!
Fantastic I worked on the f4 in the Raf at Raf leuchars in the 80s I look forward to more instruction Cheers Dave from Scotland Pilot and aircraft engineer
Obtain this aircraft when it first came out on the Xbox store! Absolutely beautiful plane fun to fly doesn't like to slow down nothing a little air brake can't handle lands very nicely amazing sound would be nice to have a HUD
I didn't know why people used to say this plane is "the victory of the thrust over the aerodynamics", but after using this plane in MSFS I know exactly what it means now. This plane is very hard to control, it seems to have not much lift in the wings (so it has a nose down tendency naturally) his maneuverability is extremely limited (to say the least), his cockpit is completely old fashioned with little analogic gauges that are complicated even to see because they are quite small and his navigation methods are the oldest possible. In one quote: I feel myself completely lost and helpless piloting it. But, the plane seems to be realistic based on real life comments I've heard of people who actually piloted it in real life.
@@Pilot0083 But I liked this DC Designs model, the plane was well developed. Brautiful model, textures, sounds, most of the systems are working. I loved the engine sounds, Very loudy because they're old turbojet engines and not turbofan.
The rear seat in the F4-J is not a copilot position. As can be seen in the Marine version, there are no flight controls in rear seat. The rear seat is the Radar Intercept Officer (RIO). People might say that is the Weapons Systems Officer, but that is incorrect. The MOS 7587 (Marine Corp) is specific in calling the billet "Radar Intercept Officer - F4J" (or F4-S later). The RIO is almost always a qualified pilot, but for a brief period after Vietnam, due to officer shortages, there was a small group of enlisted men, Sgt and Staff Sgts, that were given the MOS, but as "Rader Intercept Operator".
I just want to ask if the pmdg liveries have ruined your fps too I can’t even fly into default airports with them or the runway has a random texture bump and flips my plane. Crazy thing is they’re literally a skin there’s nothing interior but they acted like they couldn’t release it sooner because they only release the best products
@@Pilot0083sounds good I edited my message above but they’re nothing special just seem to have a million sim issues with the plane and liveries. I have everything off traffic weather ground/vehicles and boats off all traffic off I can’t figure out why my game lasts 30 min max and I’ve deleted everything I’ve bought except what I love and I have 65g downloaded
@@hah5663 yea man I can’t figure it out at all I have to start having a constant and a baseline for when I do add ons and I’m not a scientist this should be something Microsoft fixes
@@ALLpurpose85you deleted rolling cache and performed full console restart. I spawned in with Ryanair livery this morning and it seemed ok, but yet to actually fly it
Wish we got the proper cockpits for each variant but I guess that's fine. Waiting to see if Heatblur releases their F-4E for MSFS after the F-14 is out.
