@@TheDungeonCoach Ikr! In my TTRPG, playing WoW is what helped us do away with spell slot’s & the like! We have magnetic ability icons for each spell that would remind you of WoW spell icons surrounding your screen, only they sit on your Character’s Class sheet with a cooldown section, once the cooldown is up, they move it back to their abilities section to be used again. There’s also a buffs/debuffs section so both PC’s & NPC’s can physically give them to one another to apply the effect’s & know where abilities are currently active! We plan to start promoting early next year! 😊
My only worry about DC20 is your “all in” approach to hobbies. What happens if you get into fly fishing or fantasy football or bird watching before finishing the game???
I also hope he considers doing a DC20 advanced (or DC20 extreme) as well one day (once the game is well and truly tested) That way you can have a version for everybody's taste
God I super appreciate a DC20 Lite. D&D5e and PF2E could really use shaved down versions to just really dive into the best parts while still being simple and snappy for shows or different demographics
I love dc20 but only one concern I have.... Is the name Cause all the big ttrpg games seem to have some meaning behind their name Dungeons and dragons Pathfinder Daggerheart (Mcdm hasn't yet announced the real name) I know us dc20 fans will play, and watch dc20 because we love it And I know game's mechanics are more important than the name I just believe that if dc20 wants to reach an audience beyond dnd, they need have some meaning in their name. Cause let's be honest, for people who have no idea what dc20 is , branding will matter, cause most people will never even give games a try if they don't like the branding. So I hope coach can find some cool full form of DC ... So we can keep the name dc20
Played a session of DC20 this past weekend, walking players through character creation. It went very smoothly for the most part (there's a few rough points in ancestry/character classes that could use some further refinement) but once we were into the game as relatively experienced TTRPGers, it felt very natural. Sadly, the players moved through the session very smartly and avoided all the combat encounters, so I don't have much to report on that, but everyone said they wanted to keep playing in the system. They all really liked making unique characters with their own unique backgrounds. It really felt that even though they had similar load outs, that they were very different builds and play styles from the initial wade into the system.
Super excited to hear about DC20 Lite. I play Amazing Tales with my daughters, and I would love to have something that is maybe the next level up. Or something that will let me turn campaigns and one-shots into lite.
Hail brave man! Brazilian here! 🇧🇷 There's an awesome channel called Condado (reference to Hobbit town in the lord of the ring) and they're interested in translating your book. Call people there and give them strength. RPG in Brazil is very strong.
@@hanarielgodlike9283 conhece o canal Condado? Eles falam muito de Parhfinder e divulgaram o DC20 . Manda um recado pro camarada lá! Vai que ele permite traduzir o sistema e temos mais uma opção além de D&D
Hey, Dungeon Coaching team! I'm Brazilian and found out about your DC20 RPG system thanks to the conDado channel. I think it's awesome! It would be amazing to see a translation into Portuguese so more people here can enjoy it too! Thanks for the great work!
Thanks so much for sharing your origin story Coach! Love to hear the RPG scene that captured your imagination those are.my favorite RPG stories💜 Cannot wait to start running DC20 games🎉
I have a question. Baldur's Gate 3 in September is having an update that will bring mod-ing to the live game. Is there any hope for a team todo a DC20 mod for BG3? It would be amazing to play thru BG3 again with the DC20 ruleset.
Cant wait for more DC20 content, but Im boggled at how many ideas for characters I already have based on the foundation of what has already been built, at only levels one and two. One of my favorite was a game where I played a physically tanky fighter who focused on just that, and almost got brought down by his midling mental defense in the final fight before leveling up. I had no intention of taking a multiclass talent, but I saw the Warlocks Pact Armor and it felt like such a perfect character moment of my character going so far as to make a deal with an entity to do anything to prevent that from happening ever again. Even the +1 MD came in clutch several times thereafter. The multiclassing system feels so much more organic from a character building perspective, not just as a buildmaking mechanic. Thanks for actualizing your dream for all of us ttrpg nerds, and giving us something great to play.
Hope you get back in shape soon coach! You got me hooked from the first video of announcing the game that was a hybrid in between PTF2 and 5e. Since then, can’t wait for the next DC20 news or videos or even the next kickstarter!!
I'm very stoked for the next version...been making characters and working some preproduction for a actual play podcast using the system...really stoked to see subclasses and more spells. Congrats man...good times.
I was wondering if there were any plans for an artificer type class? The Kickstarter dropped on my birthday and i immediately started converting my own game to DC20 system. It was only a few things, but each game we integrate a few more rules. Also i gotta agree with Treantmonk, i thought i was gonna miss rolling damage die, i was so wrong 🤣. But my table has fallen in love with the rules and we all play as a party in 4 other games. Honestly those games feel clunky now in comparison cause they are still completely 5e games. Its to the point where one of the DMs said forget it and even though its still a 5e gane, we now use 4 action points and the spell duel rule🤣 thanks man you saved me from making so much homebrew!
TTRPG brings a lot of interests together. A big part of the appeal is that it can be so many things for folks for different reasons and people can get different things from playing the same game. Really like what you are doing, backed your game and am very glad for your success. Cheers!
This video and the thank you video both made me a bit sad that being able to pursue your dream meant you had to leave teaching first. Enthusiastic and skilled teachers, especially for math, are all too rare and don't receive the support they deserve. I'm glad you were able to get the backing you needed to make DC20 happen as it is definitely time well spent!
The Hunger Games-style game DC20 Alpha 0.1 would have been a cool primordial origin of the DC20 official world A power struggle between gods and their champions, the material plane coming from the titanic ebb and flow of energies unleashed as battles raged throughout time and space
Does anyone know when the higher character levels might get released, even the play test ones? I want to start a new campaign but I don't want to be stuck at level 2 for awhile.
i think a cool optional rule that could be added later on is boons that act as early level flavor based on the various subclasses. be great for those of us who already know what we wanna spec the characters into without having to overhaul the subclass system or the early game
I did a very similar thing with my wife and another couple that had never played before. But I took Lasers and Feelings, and modified it to roll multiple D20s. We explored a haunted ghost town, and fought a demon.
You live in Texas? I'm sorry, I've lived there twice and still have a lot of friends that are still there. We game on discord a couple of times a week. (I'm trying to get them interested in DC20 without going hardsale. Better they want to try, than feel like they were forced into it.) To be fair, the different places in Texas have differences, just like everywhere else. From my experience, San Antonio mostly sucks, but it's where I lived the longest in Texas. Austin was horrible with the blatant bigotry and classism. I really enjoyed the San Pedro Islands area, but that particular area was only a couple of weeks, and the blue tipped crabs are DELICIOUS! I'm liking the looks of DC20, but haven't played it yet even though I did grab the 0.8 rules when posted. Good luck, waiting impatiently for DC20 1.0, have fun!
