Yo TJ! You should actually watch our show! All the brush stuff makes sense and fits nicely with what else is going on, it's replicating the 2001 snareline that did a similar thing and won a Sanford. Also, those old cadets lines that would go and beat everyone would also make those faces, looks great in our shakos :))

Hey, man. I did my diligence before responding. I watched Cadets 2001 as well as the best video I could of Cadets '21. Firstly, I love Cadets 2000-2006. I pretty much grew up on lines like them. Having said that, even going back and watching it, I think that swing chart is the lamest part of the 2001 show. The good news is I actually like y'all's version of it more in 2021, but I still can't get down with it. Just a personal preference. I much prefer a break like the one y'all have ~3 minutes into the show. When I had to perform swing or teach swing stuff, I always hated it, so I'm glad you enjoyed performing it.

The Cadets were done dirty by the throwback to the 07' voiceovers. I unfortunately always associate that tasty quad lick with that super corny "TeNoRs! LeT's GoOoO!!"

Bluecoats 2012 look like the least contrived performers I have ever seen in the activity. no cap. I believe them when they say it all looks contrived.

Thing about that season was I don’t have much memory of discussion about ‘performing’. We had the helmets on and no one would see anyway. Whatever happened just happened organically. -Mike

@@agedoutpodcast I think about it this way, there was no need for extra flair in details. You brought the sticks up together, you guys knew what parts grooved and then it was subtle. The book might have been "easier" It wasnt music that you had to be into. Bluecoats 2012 to me from a performance, from a technicality, from a pedagogical stand point is like an album that came out back in the day the people still recognize as a great work. There were certain groups that I didnt like after 2012 cause I felt like everyone was trying to imitate that.

BAC always has players! Those kids can burn! My problem is after 2018 BAC, it almost seems like Colin just goes back to that show or other previous shows and just copies and pastes. I mean, I love the 10 minute rams he writes, but I don’t find myself continuously coming back for more like I do with other books!

12:10 The only groups where the performing isn't forced are Bloo and BK, change my mind Edit: Also, I just realized that both the Cavaliers and Cadets shows have parts that sounded like they were ripped out of Bluecoats books ('17 and '18 respectively) lmao
