I really enjoyed all 5 episodes. Many great endings left out though. Old school folks enjoy the mid 70's -early 80's. Please consider in your future postings. I would love to see a best openings series too! Again, great stuff. Thanks!
Egads!!!! No 1996 with the the Conductor in tears and that horn line grabbing the crowd by their collective throats and taking the championship with raw force? Good googly-moogly! HATt's got to be one on the list!
@Rizzle2377 Freddie and Mike martin are awesome. They worked with us (The Academy) trumpets mostly. It was an honor to have them with with the trumpets.
I’ve looked through all the videos and can’t find 82 Vanguard when they pulled out Bottle Dance. I was there and the crowd just lost it. I agree with the guy that said there is not enough 70s and 80s endings. 84 Suncoast Sound with the flag, Lancers Danny Boy, there are a lot of great endings from the past.
OK< after viewing all 5 of your videos, these are quality endings, to be sure, but I was in DCI in 1981 and 82, and if you cannot find any of the shows from the 70's and 80's, you are missing out on some of the greatest endings of all time...Cavaliers 1980, Softly as I Leave You; Madison Scouts 1980-81 Through the Eyes of Love; Madison 1983-84 Memories from Cats; Spirit, 1983, We Are The Reason; SkyRyders 1980-on, Somewhere Over theRainbow...check out the 80's and see, the corps were better then
That hilarious moment when you're sitting in band class, watching phantom regiment, and one of the awe-struck freshmen blurts out "Oh my God! What school is this?!"
sadly there are thousands of schools (band program, community, administrators, band directors, parents) that still does not know what a drum & bugle corps is. The scary part is, these ignorant people are in schools with states that have TOP 12 corps !
96, 03, and 08 were already used in one of the previous videos this person did, so no worries folks. They didn't forget them. I appreciate not being redundant in that regard :) This is an awesome ode to Phantom Regiment. On a side note, that ending from 1991? It would be so badass if Phantom would bring that back.
@Rizzle2377 This video is part of a (currently) five part series in which PR 03 and 08 have already been featured. If this video was a stand-alone, then those endings would have been most definetely included.
I wish there was a better video of '89 from up top.... the TV director for the PBS presentation, from which this video was taken, was TERRIBLE! I don't think he'd ever seen a drum corps show before that night.... he almost missed this fabulous move from Phantom, but the worst example is how he totally missed the Cadets' "meltdown" move that was so beautiful with a close up of the snares! ugh.... getting mad over 25 year old TV shows.... ;)
@natesquared Like someone else told you, it's the fourth movement of the New World Symphony. You shpuld be on the lookout for a DCA corps playing (for the most part) the same show as Phantom did in 89 this year.
can someone post the 1996 carolina crown show chess the art of strategy and the full show of the 1996 orlando magic show 1996 was a good year for dci im just sayin
That moment when the drum major and section leader are bouncing up and down like "OHMYGOD THIS IS MY FAVORITE PART! SHUT UP SHUT UP!" -3 Woohoo Go Richmond Hill Marching Wildcats! -3
