Yo, I'm in Japan cause my husband is military and me, my husband, and kids were big negro'n all through Japanese Disney world like it was Wakanda on Juneteenth. Best day I've had in a while. Had me a black, some drank, and a good ass time lol.
I’m a nail tech and I work in a salon and I get a lot of my own kind that walk-in and expect to be serviced right away but they walk into these other shops and ask “how long is the wait” smh
Lol in TX Juneteenth has always been a day to celebrate by going to: Parades, BBQ, cookouts, block parties etc. I think the gov/social media kinda nationalized it. It’s nice seeing other black people celebrate it more in different states tho.
To the young lady who sent the DM. Please know that right now the walls are closing in on you and that's why you can't see what's on the other side of your fear. You deserve better and better is out there! You just have to be brave enough and love yourself enough to believe it. I promise you if you take that first step towards a better life, God (or whatever you believe in)will take 10 steps.
Juneteenth is big in the South been celebrating for years. Didn’t know until I was older that the East coast never heard of it. But we have parades and bbqs
Their relationship is so cute lol I love how well they get along and clown and joke , lord mona start a podcast mentorship !! We gotta have pieces of you across the globe 🤭💕
The hairstylists are def getting out of pocket too, like prices already be wild asl and then sometimes the customer service be crazy too like noooo 💁🏽♀️
I’m from Buffalo and since I could remember we always had Juneteenth weekend. Parade Saturday and the whole Buffalo there. Then a big festival at the park Saturday and Sunday!
I lived in the same neighborhood as those boys who tried to kill their parents. It was for the insurance money, one of them had just graduated high school. They would after wave and speak to others and seemed so nice. It was sad because before this they looked like a happy normal family.
Actually the abolishment of slavery started on January 1st. June 19th 1865 is the day the Texas (the last state to free slaves) decided to free their slaves 2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation 1863 (🥴)was in action.
@CRJ It was the Emancipation Proclamation (1863) not the Declaration of Independence (1776). When Mona said at 8:52 that we were freed “that next year” she took me out 🤣🤣 I get where her heart was though.
