Thanks a bunch, DH! I picked up the Harrier on the latest sale. I have always loved the jump jet since seeing its kick ass demos at airshows in high school. However, the systems are not coming naturally to me as the Hornet is my primary airframe. This series is a god-send.
Wow, you're probably the first one to go all the way on the SSS commands for the TGP. Thank you very much. I can use the TGP alright, but it's clunky with just the basic commands like FWD twice. I will definitely use your video as reference. Thanks!
That's great thanks, I had been struggling working the pod and did not realise you had to depress twice! When pressing SSSdown twice I would get INS on top of the screen, but completely unable to do anything... I assume this would be for a pre-assigned target you didn't want to lose..?
Mostly the INS track mode is for when you are going to loose sight of the target due to masking and you want to minimise the drift between then and when you re-sight the target.
Is there a way to slew the TGP to a waypoint? I find that very useful in the A10-C but not sure how to do it in the AV8b, perhaps the slave button with map waypoint selected?
Click DESG (bottom left) on the EHSD Display when your TGP is activated. You can watch here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bd9pqj6rM74.html starting at minute 1:15
Thanks for the good explanations, I'm still struggling to work out how to reset to boresight mode once I've dropped a GBU and an flying off to hit a new target too far away to slew the Tpod cross-hairs?
Thanks! You can reset the TPOD to snowplow or following the velocity vector by pressing NWS button. Multiple presses will toggle between the different modes. If you have used WPDESG then unboxing it also is a good idea so you are ready for your next designation.
Which weapon are you looking to use? I have a number of videos on weapons employment in this playlist. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AYwIKOTc7nc.html
@@deephack using tpdod and lazer guided selecting a target on the tpod screen but the bombs dont hit target ie they dont seem designated . Also your excellent demo does not match the dcs docs ie your info is correct
There were a number of changes in 2.7 to the way that bomb designation works in the harrier. The most notable being the way in which the T0 target point is used. If you designate something using TDC depress you then need to press WPINC long to update the T0 target position to that position. Then confirm that DESG is boxed in the bottom left of the EHSD. This is apparently more realistic. However this should have little effect on your laser guided bombs as they should hit whatever you are lasing.
There have been no changes to the operation of the TGP since this was recorded with the exception of the 2D yardstick which I have a bonus video for in this playlist. If there ever are significant changes I'll make an addendum video or simply make a new tutorial.
