**A few corrections** - Ground units do have some intermediary damage states. They lose response time, accuracy, drive speed, and other factors. It's not just all or nothing as I thought. - The Yak-52 did get a recent flight model update. I'm personally very excited about that. It still has a lot outstanding, but this is encouraging. - Only some of the Mi-24P team was moved to help with the Apache, and I'm told they are back on the Hind now. That's good news. - I did not mean to suggest that the SuperCarrier is entirely without updates. There have been newsletter updates on night deck operations, briefing room, and air boss station. It's good to at least know what is coming. If you guys know anything else I missed or got wrong please let me know. It doesn't change the point of my video at all, just don't want people to get bad info from me.

Dynamic campaign with the rts aspect aswell is probably the single most important feature that will breath life into the game. A sense of an actual battle taking place will be amazing. Everything else right now just seems boring.

Im with you Bruh. I love DCS, but the lack of a official dynamic campaign is something i miss. That is also the reason why i fly mostly single player campagins, because those at least give me more fun than multiplayer does.
@leeskirs8855
@leeskirs8855 2 года назад
Agreed. The multiplayer is repetitive and boring. The most fun I have is in single player or co-op missions. The quantity and bugginess of the purchasable mission context is disappointing. I think adding mods and user missions should be as simple and seamless as adding mods off the steam workshop for Arma 3. Single player games could also benefit from a "rewind" function or quick-save feature to make some of the more difficult aspects more accessible to players. Dynamic campaigns would go a long way.
@GunSlingerAUS1

Without huge AI improvements across all units, there is absolutely zero point in a dynamic campaign. Go play DCS liberation to see why.

It will probably suck without significant AI and performance updates.

Dynamic campaign its a must, but there is a server that imitates that fairly good, its call DDCS server, its a hardcore conquest server based o warbonds that you earn by accomplishing missions, capturing bases, etc, and you buy your airframes and weapons with those warbonds , also everything Its human driven, if you see a convoy of 20 tanks rolling into your base, if you see a s300, it was built by a human, and all those units where sling by humans in choppers, are being driven by humans, and destroyed by other humans, destroying them will cause warbond losses, diminishing the enemy teams ability to fight back Or you could find the ammo and fuel depots at the airfields or FOBs and destroy them, preventing the enemy from refueling or rearming, making your team life easy when the time to capture the airfiel has come It really simulates the dynamic environment really well, and preparing and offensive or setting a defensive line whit your team its pretty neat, flying have consequences, since your plane and armament have a cost, so you cant just send dozens of slams from 100 miles away, or you will end poor unable to respawn I strongly suggest you to try that server, is fairly unique

Very well said! I don't think people realize how much time and effort can go into content creation, especially for the channels that put together well thought out purposeful and quality content. For most people who play games in general, they probably play a few hours here and there and move on to another game, then come back for a week, and rinse wash repeat. For content creation you either dedicate yourself to a single game, or variety. With single game dedication you build a platform for yourself based around a community and usually most people who stick to 1 game are able to grow their channel easily (relative to my next point). Growing your channel as a variety content creator takes a bit more tact, as your personality needs to be more the reason people watch, and less about the content you are making as the content changes from game to game. From my own personal experience with single game content creation, variety is the way to go, but its obviously not for everyone and takes a lot more creativity in my opinion to be successful at, but the per game burnout would be less and the only true burnout you should worry about would be more akin to just being burned out from working to much. Now, myself, I obviously chose the first path of single game content creation. And to your point about the 3rd type of burnout, ya, basically what happened for me. The glaring issues you see day in and out aren't resolved and while the company may be as they put it "We are working on it" it's been in that state for far to long that you just don't believe them or don't want to wait anymore. This is where I'm at. I found it funny that only AFTER I posted my video about being burnt out and talking about the lack of changes in the AI... A video surfaces about a change that no one mentioned to the dogfighting AI. Now, that changes was incredibly minor and really added nothing to the gameplay as the AI still does all the ridiculous stuff the AI already does since i've started playing DCS, but I do find it interesting the timing of it all, and how something was made public to "subdue" the negativity created from my video. Anyway man, lots of great points and very well constructed (In hindsight I probably should have done something similar but I was burnout on even having to sit and write a script for a video lol).

Hey Jabbers. I started playing DCS at about the same time as you. There were a lot of things that put me off immediately, such as the terrible AI, the inadequate comms system, and the lack of a dynamic campaign. So instead of sinking too much time and sanity in the combat part of DCS, I chose to treat the game as Flight Simulator, but with well modeled combat jets and helicopters instead, and not as a combat simulator. I thought that lots of issues would be eventually resolved, so I've kept investing in the game but paced myself. Fast forward to 2022, and yeah, the game is still very dry and I understand why you burned out. I hope the core of DCS will be in a better state soon and that you'll come back to us happier.
@vsTerminus
@vsTerminus 2 года назад
I've often thought about variety content or about switching to streaming but like you said, it has to be about your personality and not about the content. I would struggle with both of those things. So it mostly leaves me with just trying to keep making content I'm proud of without burning out and without guilting myself into feeling bad when I'm *not* making something. I liked your video. It was (somewhat obviously) part of the inspiration for this one. I actually kind of hoped that people would link them together a bit and figure out that your video and your reasons fell into that third category I talked about. Anyway thank you for the support, it means a lot.

Track files are a HUGE issue for content creators. My lack of content has to do with the fact that every single Mi-24 track file is broken (even in the first seconds). ED should rewrite the entire track recording and playback system. Because the way it currently works (if it works at all) it takes aaaaages to record something usable. They could really benefit from it themselves as we're basically free marketing.

Yeah pretty much why I stopped playing as well. That and well, a lot of other reasons. Why would I contribute to free advertising a game I poured hundreds of dollars into when they fail to fix core features and play into some really bad business model with certain devs. Polychop's stubborn choice to abandoned the Gazelle until after the Kiowa, nearly 7 years later, for whatever excuse they can come up, with really pushed me the wrong way. All of the shine Heatblur can polish won't make me forget I'm driving a Ferrari on a worn down 20 year old road that hardly sees any priority servicing.

I can't help but agree with all your points. Getting into creating DCS videos I felt the slow buildup to burnout approaching when I thought I could maintain a weekly schedule. Dropping to a "when I have time" schedule really helped with that. What also helps with not burning out on DCS is the fact that I have a lot of non-gaming projects I enjoy working on in my free time. So there are large gaps between DCS sessions and each one feels special. In the past I'd done what you talked about and spent every free second immersed in a single game. You're absolutely right that this is the most direct route to burnout. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to your future DCS videos, whenever they come out. Don't feel any pressure to get them out anytime soon. we'll still be here whenever they're ready.

@DeusVult1683 Understand the point of having little time with a 4-month old kid in the house (Congrats on that!). The thing about dying quickly...eh, to be honest, that's part of the experience, tbh. It's highly dependent on the server you're flying on, which aircraft you're flying and how good you are at operating it and its systems. ED doesn't need to change anything in terms of faster gameplay. There's not much of a grind either, in my opinion, since there's no points or progression like what you find in for example War Thunder/World of Warplanes. DCS is a sim, and while some people treat it as a more advanced for of airquake, that's not ALL it is. The gameplay is there in form of the sandbox, and I'd say that it's the missionmakers' task to make things engaging and fun.

I'm reminded of Kuebler-Ross's 5 stages of bereavement 1) Denial, 2) Anger, 3) Bargaining, 4) Depression, 5) Acceptance. A common misconception is that these stages are sequential, but in fact they can occur episodically and simultaneously. Another common misconception is that this is mainly a description of grief and loss--in fact, it's a model of dealing with stress and moving forwards. The goal remains to achieve acceptance, while at the same time, allowing for the other 4 stages without allowing them to obstruct the goal. Good luck!

I too have experienced burnout in many other games, and I didn't have the added extra burden of content creation. I'm glad you took some time to have fun with different video games, as what is the point if you aren't enjoying your time playing! I didn't know about your channel until just a few months ago, and let me tell you that it has been my golden resource in learning helicopters. I'm going to be 100% honest that I only picked up the Hip to learn helicopters for the Apache launch -- but wow was I wrong about it. Once I actually understood the fundamentals of helicopters and the physics that surrounds them from your videos, they truly become a blast to fly. I now proudly own the Huey and Hip, and probably have more seat time in them then 60% of my jets just because I have the most fun on my rotorcraft adventures. I hope you realize that even with you temporarily gone from the DCS content creation stage, the videos you have already made are invaluable to people like me, and have brought me a great deal of joy that I would not have had without stumbling upon your channel.

Ok, I genuinely LOLed at that track file. I was experiencing this with the Viggen a lot taking off from weird road bases where the computer just *can't* handle it. Thanks for making this video. It's been really frustrating lately with the Hind because of the Apache. It's one reason I haven't bought the latter, yet, and I've had to mute a lot of the DCS groups I'm in because it's nonstop 110% Apache especially by people who know nothing about helicopters. And last night I just realized they broke the door gunner position in the Mi-8 as of the last update. We'll see how long that takes to get fixed. Thank you for making all of the content you do. Your Mi-8 videos really opened up a whole new side of DCS for me and made me enjoy the maps a lot more. Jets are cool but you rarely get to see things or think about the terrain in a dynamic way aside from something to fly over.

Software engineer here. We are almost exactly at the same place, except for the fact that instead of videos I got a kid :D I havent "played" DCS since November 2019. I joined back in for the F16 release for a few hours but then I basically only play for 3/4 hours every few months because I burned out. Right now I just join on Aerobatics server and fly choppers around for 1 or 2 hours then send out all my gear back into storage (got a few sealed boxes under the bed) for some weeks/months until I itch back enough to plug everything back in. The fact that it takes so much space and I cant use my computer normally when its all plugged in and I am also working from home, kind of plays a part as well. The "game" is awesome, its very engaging... for a little bit... as you said, theres hardly anything to do anymore. All the awesome realistic stuff can only amuse you for so long. For some time, PVP did cut it for me, but after a bit you start to get 6/7 kills until you run out of ammo or fuel and the challenge factor just goes away. You quit for a few months, come back and all of a sudden everyone shots you down and you feel like a noob, until an hour or so later when you are back to shooting everything down and it gets boring. For me, lately, the joy is starting up an helicopter, doing a take off slowly like you see people doing in real choppers, like going absolutely steady (no drift side to side) to 150m at 3/4m vertical speed then slowly transition and fly somewhere... do a slow controlled landing like they do in real life and come back. Its sounds simple but its very challenging and fun ... until I get bored of doing it in all available choppers and I store all my gear again that is :D
@vsTerminus
@vsTerminus 2 года назад
I built a stand for my gear that can just slide out of the way when I'm not using it, so it makes switching between work and play really easy. Definitely feel you on the fundamentals practice. You'd never think that just flying dummy circles around the field for two hours could feel so rewarding, but when you can watch yourself make progress every single time it honestly does feel good. And then it shows when you take on a campaign or an organized mission or whatever as well. There's nothing wrong with playing DCS sporadically. It doesn't have to be the only thing you do. And maybe there's a solution you can find to make storing the gear easier? Anyway thanks for the comment!

That outro sounded an awful lot like the LockPickingLawyer, lol. I've had this same burnout with DCS over the years, spending hours and hours in the mission editor or flying around in SP or MP till I get exhausted of it, to the point where I don't enjoy loading back into my plane/heli, followed by shelfing DCS for several months - to then later on come back and repeat the cycle over and over. I think you hit the nail on the head here in regards to DCS's core gameplay - its still the same game underneath. Personally after the Apache release, I wouldn't mind them spending a year or so, working on the core engine, implementing Vulkan API (deeply needed for VR users), getting modules out of EA, and giving some love to those already outside of the EA window. Anyways, much appreciated video as always!

Hey buddy, good to see you're back 😊 burnout and content creation fatigue... Don't get me started 😉😔 I guess having the need of taking a break from both things we dislike and love in order to recover from all that pressure is simply a part of life. Personally, I'm creating content for myself in the first place, if anyone happens to stumble upon it due to algorithm errors that's cool with me. I think the difference between artists and entertainers is that real artists are having the goal of expressing themselves regardless of the amount of attention whereas entertainers are focusing on mass entertainment. You don't have real individual artists in the mainstream music business nowadays, anyone is trying to play a role based on image, sound, lyrics etc which is expected from them to suit the marketing plan. I respect both sorts of content creation if hard work is put into it but my heart is with the rather unknown underground gem who's not trying to please anyone 💎😁 Love to you buddy, stay healthy and safe 🖤

I've been on and off with DCS since 2013. There are so many issues with DCS that have been on the back burner for years. A new module, map, or mission beings a person back but after they settle in they see the broken stuff and shortcomings. That leads to burnout and distancing from the Sim again. My longest streak was a year with through the inferno and the 107th. I led their a10c group and designed ground missions for the servers. It was a great time and many years ago. Recently I've been hooked on DCS liberation dynamic campaign and work with others to have a community who plays it. Though DCS liberation is amazing, the core DCS problems, AI mainly, show how bad the Sim is in place. There is a reason Eagle Dynamics can't make a dynamic campaign yet. Too many things are broken.

For fun on the side, I switched over to creating skins for the game. I feel this in my soul. I effectively turned DCS into a second job (40+ hours a week) when COVID hit, and pretty much kept that up for a year until I started getting more into content creation. The added stress of having to get good footage and then edit put a lot of stress on me, and has resulted in several burnouts in this past year.
@vsTerminus
@vsTerminus 2 года назад
I feel that. I put a lot of pressure on myself to always be improving my editing, to always learn something new and utilize it because I have very specific ideas about how I want the video to look and I don't have the skills to make that happen a lot of the time. It's rewarding as hell to see my videos improve in quality, but it also means starting a new project is a bigger commitment each time. I guess there's a balance in there too.

@@vsTerminus Exactly! Improvement/success is a double-edge sword. Every time I have a project that goes well it feels like the next one has to be more ambitious. I'm working on a tutorial series for Skynet (and basic scripting in general), and it has been painful to get meaningful work done on it. There are some segments that I've probably re-recorded a dozen times at least, and I'm still not happy with a lot of it.

Great video that should be taken on board by both players and content creators. The Apache will likely be the catalyst to my first proper foray into streaming, and it's an exciting time for DCS at the moment. That being said, nearly all of my frustrations have been down to a little bit of lack of focus, little bit of lack of variety and the huge amount of potential not being tapped into as of yet. This is especially so with modules like Combined Arms - effectively a 'proof of concept' that has the potential to be absolutely gamechanging.

I've been fascinated by aircraft and flight sims all my life (thanks dad!). Bought almost every major sim since the late 90s and every one of them was new and exciting. Now I've been stuck with DCS for almost a decade and the lack of meaningful progress has slowly ruined the fun for me. The way ED handles bug reports contributed a lot to this. Not interested in SP anymore, but all the servers I tried are essentially the same boring thing, just slightly rearranged. Can't fly online due to ISP issues and I feel something is missing, but somehow I don't care either. Now that you mention it, seems like time to look for something else to do.

I was thinking about this as I worked on the video. While I'm editing I'm also not playing. There just isn't time for both, especially if I need the video to be out by a certain date. I dedicated almost every day, until late night the end of last year to put out a server I'm working together with some other folks. It was rewarding by a ton to manage to reach our vision about how a server should be however it took a heavy toll. It has been almost three months I don't feel pretty motivated to flight and record anything. My (already poor) ability degraded even more. Also about the bugs. I can kinda of live of some module bugs, probably because I suck on the game hahaha, but there's two things that have been pissing me off. First is the game performance which is pretty unstable between releases and requires more and more computing power (thanks also windows to suck as it does) and the second one is ED not being able to set customer expectations properly. They do an incredible job for sure, this sim is complex AF however they prioritize wrong and communicate bad. Most of part of handling a software product is know how to set and align customers expectations and managing your resources and this sure lacks for ED. I just hope apache gives me a bit more of motivation to be more frequent flyer....

The Apache isn't my style but it *is* something my friends are all super into, so I'm going to give it a shot with them and honestly I think I'll enjoy having something I can use for night missions. And the co-op aspect of it just makes it that much better.

DCS has been a saving grace for me as I am in HK and can’t travel without 2 3 weeks hotel quarantine. I’ve been in DCS for one year and agree that DCS I need a plan of what I want to do. Unfortunately using some modules in MP are a chore. Flying your helo for 40min into a zone to get jumped by a popup groups with no CAP gets old. Loving the Syria map but not finding populated servers and having to go to Caucuses gets old. Base game needs addressed with Vulcan API and other performance tuning r game engine updates. You seem to have to throw HW at it. I hope the Apache helps bring to light the need for more MP FARPs and spacing considerations. Potentially maps that are layered lines vs the control point zoned which is fun but not when there 40miles apart in a slow aircraft. Curious if they could do a raid style missions in MP would be nice but I get that there is no lobby to stage a mission like in destiny. To often MP is deploying million dollar munitions on a vehicular or spamming amraams to get one AA kill.
@vsTerminus
@vsTerminus 2 года назад
It has always been tough to find good MP servers for heli ops. Rotorheads is a good one, and there was a server on Caucasus called Air Assault that I haven't checked in on for a while, but you're right it's still a challenge. Maybe with the launch of the Apache that will change - That thing is mega popular. I definitely know that feeling of flying forever only to get shot down by some stray AI who saw you from 300nm away somehow and came straight for you with a vengeance. That's part of the reason I stuck to logistics most of the time. It's also part of the reason I started building my sandbox maps, so I could just spawn some targets and go attack em without any other concerns. It's not as dynamic but it's still fun. "Raid Style" missions really only happen if you can find a group to fly with. I would suggest joining discord communities like Hoggit and Tactical DCS, as they both run regular events (TDCS runs them weekly, Hoggit more like monthly) and they are usually open to everyone. That can be a lot of fun if you want a little more cooperation. Good luck!

@@vsTerminusAgree with your points, no matter if you're in NOE flight they still find me. Additionally there is not enough infantry mix or actual hardened targets needing a paveway or the big rockets. Often time I can go a full Mi24 anti armor with AP cannon as there is no real need for HE round or mix. I then fall into your situation of feeling like all I do is fly in use standoff with Petro and then get ready to be shot down employing the gun. Those rockets are so underwhelming in effectiveness. I look forward to some MI24 videos your MI8s got me hooked on Helos with the logic of "Why" and predict as react is too late. If you can figure out how to get consistent grenade launcher ranging that would be nice as they can work in trees and cities if its crowded. Maybe I just need to use the manual sight adjustment as they are way short or detonate too late. Big fan of your content so keep it up as it is insightful and calmly presented.

Time for the cold hard truth. DCS is and always has been an arcade game wearing a self-proclaimed disguise of a combat simulator. While most modules are amazing and sure realistic enough to be called a simulation, the game itself, DCS World, is absolutely not. Combat in DCS is hilariously lackluster due to a combination of shortcomings, mainly in the AI Department, but also the lack of realism when it comes to weapons and their deployment. The worst offender however is the lack of a realistic and dynamic campaign that makes it possible in the first place to apply any learned skills. What's the point of all these "training servers"? How many years are you guys going to shoot the same dummy targets and prepare for a battle you will never fight? How many times do you need to do your carrier qualifications when you will never need it? DCS offers you NOTHING at all aside from a nice cockpit-clicking experience. And it's a damn shame and only ED is to blame. They could have learned from other sims, mainly Falcon BMS for years. Instead they mock BMS because it looks old. DCS is like some high school cheerleader bimbo that mocks the class "nerd" because she doesn't dress in the latest fashion. Years later they meet on the street. Bimbo is now a divorced single mom, has some low income job and men are only interested in her for quick fun, until her beauty fades and she will have nothing left to offer. Meanwhile, Nerd studied hard and achieved something more than looking nice. Has personal integrity and a future, because she focused on the right things and matured.

Im a bit burned out with dcs right now, but it's mostly because the gimbal on my stick is a bit wobbly and woefully inadequate for flying helis.(don't get a plastic gimbal stick for flying helis!) Combined with my frustration with ground AI and I'm just not motivated to play. I don't know how I haven't noticed this seriously inadequate part of DCS before. Wags said they are working on it though. Edit: i think ED needs to hire more people and consolidate their work. We have 2 new modules, Apache and Hind plus the F16 in early access. I feel like they keep biting off more than they can chew by making these new modules that the masses are demanding. Focus on finishing these modules and binging DCS as a whole up to modern standards. I feel like they could easily out sources a lot of this stuff too, like modeling some of the extremely old ground units and adding in new ones.

The only game I've been playing longer than DCS at this point is Rock Band (or now Clone Hero) and even that is very much a sporadic thing. @@vsTerminus Yeah, especially frustrating is the "adandoning older modules" and pumping out more and more new modules that are in eternal EA status. Like, I got into DCS for maybe 1-2 aircraft that I truly liked and after all these years they still aren't even close to being done, buggy and with no finishline in sight. Not to even mention the core game issues with sensors, weather and AI. The problem is that I often play games to escape reality (life dealt me a crappy hand) and DCS at the moment fails to do that. Instead, it becomes a constant reminder of the atrocities being committed and lives wasted over a pointless conflict created by a delusional megalomaniac madman wanting to build his final legacy before he goes out. I played Ka-50 10 or more years ago ? First, it is not in my language to understand it all in fine detail, then it looks like a huge time sink. Pushing those imaginary buttons compared to say ways of simplifying controls in Il-2, plus no real requirement for additional devices means that you do not need further investment. I played flanker 1.0 around 1997. then 2.0, then a bit of LO:MaC. Then I went to Ka-50, with that I lost interest , I tried flying twice. I did fly, but it seemed too much effort, in a foreign language. If I wanted to try it, I would need to constantly learn new words, what it means and then comes the idea, for what ? Not understanding what is going on, what is missing, pretty much constantly ? Learning all the shortcuts in english, then trying to decipher it, trying to then understand it, there comes like too much pressure to even move at all. So, I was thinking, well, if I am not really bothered to fly with all those imaginary buttons on screen, I was willing to settle down to say Combined Arms. For example, I like to calculate lead myself whenever possible. I consider myself very good at that compared to most other people. I looked at it, it said that it was pretty simplistic. Well, ok, but then I looked at the updates, etc and it seems like they do not see fast money they put it on back burner. It is like they want low expectations when it comes to finishing things, as far as finishing is possible. When you say F-5, I think of what could have been in a much better state, like Combined Arms. All the SAMs that I saw years ago had weird dumb guidance, or height limits at which they artificially stopped working even when missiles were kinematically fine ? That might have been 3 years ago. Also it seems damage models on Il-2 seem much more plausible than what most of DCS has. And it seems also that Il-2 had much more friendlier price tags. I kept myself out of DCS pretty much because of lots of hurdles and trying to get in it would most likely limit where I spend the majority of my time. AS you said, not just playing it but having it still in your head. Both games arent extra fun, but at least Il-2 gives you some action even without complex control hardware, buttons etc. I pulled out a joystick inactive for 10+ years and was able to function in Il-2, to my surprise. DCS- ? No. It seems like not fun enough while, yea, its a sim, sure, but if it is not personally fun, then I get the perspective, it is all cool, but I just let others do it, enjoy it or whatever. I rather spend a lot of time researching real world and in the end got a picture regarding 'current events' that are completely 100% against what goes in the local MSM that is controlled from the US. That also means that Im nt welcome to tell the truth to people who do not have a concept for truth, but only 'perspectives', where they are unable to judge right from wrong, not based on feelings and emotional manipulation, but from history,, where I get arguments of why the narratives they are putting up are the inversion of reality. Im here in south east Slovakia, pretty close to where 'current events' are taking place and from what I know, is that basically, who the MSM are trying to destroy, is those that are a threat to those liars. The same picture similar to 'current events' was used in 8.8.2008 'events', media blackout from 7th to 10th when a response came, and when it came, the response was told by the liars, as unprovoked. All the western media acted in unison, distoring reality, making victim the aggressor, the aggressor, the victim. Same was happening in Libya, then Syria. All with the same people instigating it. Them taking out civilians ? Oh the govt did it. Syrians destroyed their chem weapons, but the 'moderate opposition' always came up with chemicals (from apparently outside sources) when Syrian army had successes. Syrian Warfare game tells the picture pretty well, base game being a bit propagandistic (or over the top :P) but the palmyra expansion was definitely done with exact dates, locations that were very reminiscent of real areas. I was watching the situation pretty much weekly/daily IRL so that I could compare that this was the real situation. I take those accounts as credible, as fact-based. I apply the standard to who finances, arms who, then I know who is behind what 'events'. While I might not know everything, I get a very good sense of who is who and who works for who. While current events are unfortunate for the ordinary person, those events were shaping up since 1991, one side was pushing and pushing, the other side wanted diplomacy. The side that kept pushing understood diplomacy as a means of making the other side surrender, to break rules, while expecting the rest to follow said rules. In my country the very such system has been shaping up for a long time, with US oligarchic money, since 1998 election media/western pressure coup. I really do not want to blame the average person, but on the other side, overseas when they believe all the falsehoods told in their corpomedia, being fine with it is like tolerating hypocrisy, I get the idea that many people are fine with it. I guess they seek comfort, but reality destroys comfort provided by falsehoods. Cheers :)

After being very close to an air strike with explosions and air raids sirens, I can't bomb stuff in DCS. I can't even setup scenarios involving air strikes. I detest it. I also will not pay any money to any entity where a part of that money goes to Russia. Therefore, the Apache goes the way of the Russian warship.

This is not Russia's war. They tried to avoid it for 8 years, but the Americans, Germans, French and English wouldn't have it. Meanwhile literal Nazis were murdering civilians and no one cared.

The anger and outrage people feel over the ukraine war and the discussions they have about playing DCS when this is occurring is so angering. Where were these discussions, especially after the syrian map was released, pertaining to the genocide of the Yemeni people, the Palestinians under apartheid rule, the over 1 million Iraqis and counting dead from the west's rape of Iraq. Seems people only care when white people are getting slaughtered. The point is, anyone having apprenions to playing dcs or saying to boycott dcs are nothing but complete jokes and should not be taken seriously. Thinking this alone only exposes their deep rooted racism and ignorance, hypocrisy, etc. It's a game, or simulator, not political theater. Sorry for the rant.

Hey no problem. I think that you're probably not wrong, but because I habitually want to give people the benefit of the doubt there are definitely some other factors involved here. Propaganda is real and it works. For people living in the US they have been told for decades by their leaders that what they are doing in nations like Iraq and Afghanistan and Syria is "for the greater good", that they are "Freeing the people from oppressive regimes". Of course they've also been taught that those people are "lesser", which goes back to your point about racism and ignorance, but maybe it can be a teaching moment for some at least. You also have factors like Iraq and Afghanistan started 20 years ago and Ukraine is happening right now. Syria didn't get anywhere near the kind of media coverage Ukraine is getting (Again propaganda). And in Canada we are home to the largest population of Ukrainians outside of Ukraine itself, so in some ways this war hits closer to home because it directly impacts people in our lives. The invasion of Ukraine has definitely been "harder to ignore" for most North Americans. Maybe you're right that it's just old fashioned racism, but my hope is that this is changing people's opinions about war in general. What interests me more is "how will these people feel when the *next* war happens?" I hope they'll remember how they feel now and realize that war sucks no matter who is involved. Anyway, sorry for the rant-reply.

@@vsTerminus Appreciate the reply, I do certainly get those who are connected to the war through their background family etc etc. I'm more talking of those who have nothing to do with ukraine other than their skin colour being the same. Either way, this war will end soon and the more people wake up to see war is terrible will be good after seeing this.

"DCS has the best helicopters" - you havent flown the H145 Even the AirlandFS engine helis are more realistic than DCS helicopters. If you can live without pew pew that is.

@@dcs-web-editor I've been following your mod. Airland is good. But the H145??? I'm really confused why you're putting that one up as the best example of realism when it's quite literally an airplane flight model. It's like putting the Gazelle forward to represent DCS Helicopters. All of the MSFS helicopters have issues. None of the AirlandFS helicopters are even close to done, they are all very WIP with abbreviated startup and shallow simulation for many systems. I've also struggled to get the H125 to even work for me, as it tends to shut itself off spontaneously mid-air. The Bell-47G is pretty nice but has issues with responsiveness and stability that feel weird to me. Subjective for sure, but it's also a more complete add-on than the R44 and the H125. I would say this one is my favorite MSFS heli so far, though. Also the sound packs are... so-so? None of them come close to the DCS Mi-24 in terms of visuals and sound. AirlandFS flight models are good, I'll give them credit for that absolutely, but the whole package has to be considered and right now there aren't any offerings on the level I'm looking for.
