@@Orca19904 Growling Sidewinder had a video where Jester ejected prematurely, of his own accord. bandit on tail, its closing in for the kill - Growling almost turfs it, but manages to keep rolling the dice... jester says "I'm out" and punches out - growling manages a reversal and kills the bandit, no canopy, no RIO. Laughed my ass off, its a classic if you haven't seen it.
@@stinkyfungus I believe I have seen it before, as well as another video where Jester bails when someone's fighting a MiG-19 back when it had a flight model that would make an F-22 do a double-take. In both instances the pilot manages to get a kill in spite of Jester thinking they'd had it.
I like to believe that 3 years later, you are still skidding along the grass and jester is right there with you. Safe to say that truck might have gotten in the way of my dreams on this one though. The world will never know..... and I have to live with this as a legend to tell my kids.
u just killed me after 3 year im still watching peoples complaing me cause i landed so fast and band after 3 years people dosen't understand it was just a stupid random cinematic video xD i landed like this for the video.
@@FoxTheVolpe I thought it was hilarious and I saw comments complaining. It was pretty obvious that you planned it that way. I think the main clue was the bgm and jester no gtfoing when you touched down. I do wonder how many takes that took though. Lol
@@jester4476 ya it was you, there was also the time you razzed me after struggling during a rough sea landing “OOH 3-wire!!” Getting my confidence up only for a second because you then told me the truth and admitted it was a 4-wire. I’m inches away from calling one of the Huey guys to see if they want a RIO gig or seeing if there’s a spot for me in a green button.
while you might have been damaged by an AIM-120, the engines started doing that banging because of how fast you were going when you cut throttle. You should have slowed down way more way earlier. If you had you wouldve been able to lower the gear (they didnt extend because you deployed them going way too fast) and you couldve made a much better landing.
@@lucidcortex8444 If you ever get VR I suggest VTOL VR. It is a good in-between for arcade games like Ace Combat and full sims like DCS. It has you get used to lots of the same weapon systems but easier. Also its all VR controls so no need for a full rig. Just what comes with VR.
Left hydraulic pressure was zero, though. It powers the combined hydraulic system, meaning you would not have hydraulic pressure to the flaps, brakes, or gear. Right was still good, which is why he had flight control surfaces. I'm guessing he had the hydraulic transfer shutoff engaged (lucky thing). Could have tried to deploy the gear and flaps with the hand hydraulic pump or dropped the gear on short final and engaged the transfer pump right then in the hope that flight control would last long enough to get the jet down. Would require some serious thinking-on-your-feet though. But 400 knots belly landing, big yikes lol. Controllable jet, so plenty of energy for an orbit to get the speed under control.
@@Thuraash1 He could've used the emergency gear deployment. It blows the gear into the down and locked configuration with a compressed nitrogen charge. Also the hand pump only charges the hydraulic systems for the brakes and/or the refueling probe actuation depending on the position of the landing gear handle and the refueling probe switch.
This reminds me of a F15 engine fire accident, the pilot tried to save the plane (against the protocol) but overshot the runway during landing (over speed the gear) in the end and had to eject
@@FoxTheVolpe I call BS on that. You probably didn't stop at all but the aircraft jumped and flipped over the truck and landed on the other side safely.
Every few months I come back to appreciate the emotional ups and downs of this cinematic masterpiece, hoping that one day I'll see you and Jester get clear of that truck.
reading this comment was a great shock, I didn't think the video would become so popular as I've never applied myself too much to doing these things but I've always seen them as a stupid pastime that I would never carry on. unfortunately i don't have the time to dedicate but you really made me want to do something... Thank you
Awhile back i was in the tomcat, got hit my 2 missiles and still a le to fly fairly easy but lots of electronics were dead...jester stayed in. Then got hit with gun fire, lost the canopy and jester dead in the seat. Still made a safe landing and I had only been flying the f14 for about a week. It's a well built plane. Meanwhile anything hits me in the f16...DEAD everytime.
@@FoxTheVolpe Awesome video, and generally a good plan. Just FYI, though, your flight controls will operate off the right hydraulic system alone. You would probably have been okay doing a loop around the field to shed some speed. Losing the left hydraulic system does cost you flaps, gear, and brakes, but a loop around would also have bought you a moment to work the hand hydraulic pump and try to get the gear down.
@@Mrgamer7281 lol front left console. The tomcat has a great cockpit, it's one of the easiest and certainly the most user friendly. Join us! It's free at the moment 😁
@@indianajon7980 umm what lol the tomcat is an old school steam gauge with for modern day standards a heavily obstructed cockpit the hud is even basic and of little help in MFC compared to a f18 that does everything it can do with a HMD and a hand holding flight computer

@@FoxTheVolpe of course I'm not in your situation so I can't judge but I still wonder if you could've make turns to slow down the plane. I'd think it would be better to try that than to risk high probably of crashing at those speeds on ground. In any case it's still cool to see what you did
@@notproplayer3649 You can't risk loosing too much speed on E-landings. There is no 2nd chance no turning around for another go. If you stall out before you reach the runway there is a good chance you no longer have the engine power to speed back up or the time needed to regain control. At least thats why I would imagine.
@@crplsteve probably the reason, I had my fair share of landings without any power and I know how damn important speed and energy conservation is. It just seemed really too fast of a landing, a landing I don't feel like is very survivable so I'd risk it by losing a bit of speed.
when were you hit? your rwr never lit up nore were there any impact sounds. lots of compressor stall though. according to your speed readout you dropped your gear at mach 1 and touched down going 650 some odd knots. no warnings, no errors, no comments from jester that your hit. looks like a DCS false valor vid, completely unnecessary to drop the plane like that.
teach me? u dont say i was doing all for the video contenent, btw i was multiplayer ddcs ( i got hit before video starts from 120 of an f-15 ) u don't like i got 100.000 visual right? XD
