crispy, PLEASE please don't call it DLC. it's a MODULE for gods sake. xD DLCs are only paid addons for TERRIBLE games, so definitely not DCS!! DCS 4 ever!

@@Dan20q DLC means DownLoadable Content. So the F-16 is a DLC. Plus you have good DLCs, look at DarkSouls and Fallout 4 for exemple.

@@TheKenji2221 Never played and Fallout game, and from DarkSouls, I only bought DS 3 and still didn't really get into it xD DCS PvP (BlueFlag) is just WAYYY too much fun :P And yes, DLC is correct, but a totally abused term by the gaming industry... :/ (the company "EA" and others imo)

@@MattWagner Personally, I find it extraordinarily tedious to bind controls for each airplane. I have no idea how difficult it would be to implement this in-game, but I think having a controls set-up wizard would be infinitely helpful for this sort of task, though its likely that each plane would need its own individual wizard because they are all so unique. Maybe start with the newer early access planes like the tomcat, viper and hornet?

There is a folder in the savedgames/DCS"your version"/config/input with all your aircraft control settings. I just save it and if/when it does get messed with after a update I put that input folder I save back in to replace the new one.

Hey there. I have the same setup.(TM warthog throttle and Gladiator NXT joyistic) I am a new DCS player so trying to learn about bindings. Do you mind to share your key bindings if it is possible.Thanks

I had the same problem with the MiG-21, so I ended up 3D printing a replacement detent insert specifically for it. Upside is I have a much larger range of motion from idle to AB than before and I was able to include I soft detent for the boundary layer control to make landings easier. Downside is having to learn to use CAD software...

yeah, i have it it works fine. search joystick on your windows and try to calibrate it, see if it works. if it does go back into DCS and and check the controls

@@MattWagner I believe he is referring to issue that ANT axis currently does not behave like a slider as in the actual F-16. It's currently not usable by us Cougar throttle owners. Currently it behaves exactly like the F/A-18C which I understand is how it works in that plane?

@@MattWagner Cool. I thought something was off with the elevation wheel. I'm currently using the Cougar throttle, and Simped F-16 pedals interfaced through my old Cougar base and using the Cougar stick on top of a Virpil Warbrd base, so I'm pretty much one for one. :-) Also, thanks for what you did with the special button options like on the dog fight switch.

We have supplied profiles for HOTAS systems that can directly map all of the Viper HOTAS functions. Sadly, that system cannot do it. Thanks

I just hope that no DCS F-16 development time was spent in the making of this video o_O (it's just that I think this video will ONLY be useful to those who own a copy of a real-life F-16 HOTAS system... :/ And wonder how many of the 6900 viewers ACTUALLY watched the entire 15 minutes 48 seconds)

@@MattWagner Would be great if the components of Thrustmaster T-16000M FCS Flight Pack weren't perceived as separate entities when I have all three of them. It's such a pain to explain to the sim I don't really need flight controls mapped to my radar cursor mini-stick as well as I don't need rudder inputs neither on the stick twist grip nor on the throttle's rocker when I have the pedals for that every single time I need to configure a module. Not to mention it's just odd that the automatic configuration process "believes" I might decide to fly the plane with the radar cursor stick...

@@Dan20q Wagner is not a developer, Wagner is the CEO. His role is not programming, so no time is taken away from programming. On top of that, software development is a _creative_ process, it is not a matter of paint by numbers. This means a lot of time is spent figuring out the problem, figuring out the best course of action, and actual research into the code base. A lot of 'dead time' in other words. Even if a developer made this video, it very likely would not have taken away any time from coding. / software dev by trade.

It depends what stick you have. I have the F-16 version, just like in the video.

Jooo man! i want to say first that i can't help you. i'm looking to buy a joystick myself and it's really hard to find one. At first I thought you could play f-16 DCS with your keyboard and mouse but apparently that is also super hard to play with. Apparently it is so bad that you have to use a different joystick for every other plane. I think it is actually very commercial for just playing a game and like it. What I can tell you when you buy Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Joystick is that you save but that is also €600 verry expensive. It would be nice if a youtuber would make a video with all the DCS games plugged in and then recommend joysticks for each game.

If you want to save profiles externally for backup it is by device by plane/module. So when you click "save profile" you are saving the actively highlighted device (the column that is lit up) in its current mapping for that module. For example for the F/A-18 I have three profiles saved each separately for my CH Fighterstick, Throttle, and Pedals. I have three separate profiles saved for those same devices for the A-10C, the F-14B, etc. Each module that I want to use these devices with gets three profiles.

You could try getting a used Saitek X-65F (it's discontinued), or a RealSimulator FSSB R3 Lightning with F16 grip if you have a couple thousand dollars to spare (video demo at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sJ2A4Cop2es.html). These are actual force-sensing sticks. You see, this is not simply about modifying the curves to make a normal stick more sensitive to small displacements. The real feel of the F16 stick is about force sensing, so it takes say 17 to 25 pounds of force to generate a full nose-up input (depending on whether it's on cruise or landing gains). With such a setup, fine maneuvering can be achieved even if the stick doesn't appear to be moving, as the stick can sense the 0.1 pounds of force you're applying for such inputs. Conversely, if you simply use curves to calibrate your normal stick (one using a normal Hall effect or analog sensor) to generate max input at tiny displacements, you'll get an overly-sensitive stick which will be unusable. You'll enter uncontrollable oscillations just trying to maintain level flight and you can forget about tricky tasks like landing, refuelling or formation flying!

There's no gear and flap switches on the F-16 HOTAS. Flaps come down with the landing gear automatically. "G" is a toggle for landing gear up or down on all aircraft in DCS.

Just don't start another pre-order of another aircraft before the Hornet and the Viper are finished, its a little bit frustrating to see devs work on another aircraft and have still several jets on early access... big thumb up from France !
