Absolutely one of the best tutorial videos i have ever seen with the level of detail mentioned with included text. This video should be a template for everyone who is just delving into DCS World with the F-5E Tiger ll. I have already learnt so much from this one video than anything else I have seen on the net. I would love to see more tutorials videos including how to arm various different missiles with hints and tips. Thank you again for everything as its really appreciated.

Really well done. The text is very helpful and the videos have enough detail to be very informative without becoming overly long and wordy.

The fact that you spent the time and wrote down the key commands instead of only explaining what to do is incredibly helpful. Amazing tutorial. For such a small channel, with so few videos posted the quality is immensely impressive. It's been a while since you posted a new video, but damn have you earned a new subscriber! :D

mackan072 thank you for the kind comment! I try my best. Reason for not uploading is that i'm in basic pilot training now with Swiss intl. air lines ;) Will upload after that again.

Your videos are short, informative and the on screen text helps a lot. I look forward to your weapon tutorials, specifically bombing which I hear is hard with this jet.

Pitot Anti-ice is not nessecary unless it is cold outside, if you turn it on while the aircraft is stationary and it is not cold outside. It gets really hot and can damage itself.

Once again it's a super and great video, it's always a real pleasure to watch your videos. You have include the text and it's really perfect because with the other authors of videos it's not the case. Video simple and clear, the must to watch +1 My rampstart is the same that you but after to have switch ON the left and right fuel pump I switch "auto balance" to left position. For you maybe it's not necessary because you use one external fuel tank ? A great thanks for this new video and this new sharing. Great work, Skulleader +1
@DCSMustang
@DCSMustang 8 лет назад
Thanks a lot! Both internal fuel tanks are full on takeoff, also when you have an external fuel tank, the internals will stay full until you have emptied the external. Only when you then start to burn fuel from the internals does it make sense to start the auto balance, because then the two internals have space in them to balance out the fuel. So only turn them on once you turn off the externals (or drop them). Otherwise you stress the right fuel pump because it has to work for the left one as well, because putting auto balance in left low will turn off the left fuel pump and feed both engines from the right one. Does that make any sense?
@skulleader
@skulleader 8 лет назад
If you use an external fuel tank yes your process is perfect, but without this external fuel tank during the rampstart and the takeoff I prefer switch ON the left balance for equilibrate the two internal fuel tanks and when the two tanks are the same quantity automatically the auto balance switch return to the both position, it's not good like that ? But maybe it's an mistake from me...

Great Tutorial! :) Thanks a lot! But one question, that no tutorial answered so far: What about the Altimeter? Aren't you supposed to get rid of the yellow PNEU Flag by pressing the little knob to the ELECT position on the lower right at the altimeter? Perhaps I am wrong, but in my understanding this step provides, that the CADC corrects the altitude readout on the altimeter. Not a essential step, I know... :D
@DCSMustang
@DCSMustang 8 лет назад
TBH I did not find this in any manual yet, I'll look into it.
@AndrewHanderson
@AndrewHanderson 8 лет назад
Great video but have also question about altimeter. I'm used to from other aircrafts to have two of them - radar (precise but only for small altitudes) and barometric ("+/-" value but working also in greater altitudes). Does F-5 have only one altimeter? I can see only barometric. Common sence tells me to find altitude above sea level of airfield I'm taking off and set this altimeter to correct value before start.
@DCSMustang
@DCSMustang 8 лет назад
+Andrew Handerson you are right in your assumptions. Tecnically you could ask ATC for the QNH (barometric pressure of the airfield depending on wheater) and set the altimeter to that value (the other small number with 4 digits) but your method works fine for me.

very good tutorial. can we have also a .doc or pdf startup checklist or it is the same of the checklist in the aircraft documentation? i noticed that the beacon light on dcs 1.5 don't turn on until the first engine sturtup. my error?need groundpower?

should be on with battery power... I did the start up after the manuals description mostly.

this is really cool but i have no idea what you're talking about 😂 this simulator is really complicated. where can you get it and does it teach you how to fly real airplanes or do you already have to know
@DCSMustang
@DCSMustang 7 лет назад
BadW01f 2 The base game can be downloaded here for free: www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/ there is some modules that are easier than the others, namely the flaming cliffs package wich includes the f15, su27 and 33, mig 29 and su25. the su25t is also easy and comes free with the game. All other modules come with a fully clickable cockpit and all systems function like in real life. Previous flying abilities are not needed, there are good training missions and lots of good video tutorials online. Just start with the su25t, you'll only need a cheap joystick for it.

Why aren't the ADIs placed back to 0 after takeoff? Are they automatically reset? I get it that you place them to -3° because you raise the nose with the nose strut... but that's just a take off gimmick isn't it? After take off for flight and landing the ADIs should be somehow placed back to zero isn't it?
@DCSMustang
@DCSMustang 7 лет назад
The plane has so short wings, it flies with some angle of attack always just to stay airborne. Apparently that is at 3° AOA, probably that is just the average.
@zaelu
@zaelu 7 лет назад
Hm... dunno... then ADI should be set from ground so 0° should be achieved when it has 3°. It's like the designers made an error and pilots correct it after their "feel". What if a critical AoA is passed with 1.5°? It would be in that zone where you don't know who to believe... the instrument or the manual.
@DCSMustang
@DCSMustang 7 лет назад
You can also think of it like that: The nosewheel is too short when not extended for the normal flight attitude. when on ground it then will give you -3° indication on the ADI. But when you align the ADI it goes to 0° normally thats why you have to correct it first. The usual attitude a plane has in normal flight can be chosen by the designers, its all a trade off for different flight characteristics... Bottom line, in flight you should believe your ADI when it shows 0° to be flying horizontal.
@zaelu
@zaelu 7 лет назад
I know... that's why I don't really understand that fiddling with it.

I can't move the throttle after clicking on the left engine start. I can't succeed with neither stick nor keyboard shortcuts. But throttle works during free flight. i need help. thank you
@DCSMustang
@DCSMustang Месяц назад
so do you have the throttle idle keybind mapped onto your throttle or any key? this one needs to be activated to get your throttle out of the cutoff detent into the idle detent.
@ddemrh
@ddemrh Месяц назад
@@DCSMustang Which one should I choose for stick or keyboard settings? I can say that I have tried them all. I am using logitech 3d pro. I only have problems with idle during cold start and when shutting down the plane. Thank you.

I was thinking on picking up the tiger and im wondering if you need track ir to use it
@DCSMustang
@DCSMustang 7 лет назад
Gotcha Six there is no "need", although it helps a lot and improves the experience a lot. Feels way more intuitive instead of looking around with the mouse. Google 'delan clip' is a cheap alternative to trackir :)

Hello, I am looking for help. I am trying to complete the built-in tutorial, but on the startup, I cannot seem to start the right engine, even after following the steps exactly. Is there something that I might be doing wrong?
@DCSMustang
@DCSMustang 7 лет назад
EpicHaley if you rearm and refuel while asking for pressured air, they won't respond for some reason. Do that before or after the complete startup to avoid that conflict. Other than that i dont know what could cause that without more info...
@epichaley1173
@epichaley1173 7 лет назад
Doesn't seem to be the problem... probably just me being dumb haha.
@DCSMustang
@DCSMustang 7 лет назад

@epichaley1173
@epichaley1173 7 лет назад
I follow your exact steps, I think it is the throttle idle step in which I am failing. I don't have a joystick or throttle, so that's the problem. I can fix it on my own, thanks for the help!

it is called: DCS World. If your laptop is powerfull enough to play modern games then you can certainly install it on the laptop, otherwise I'd advise you to install it on a powerfull gaming PC.
