i am pretty solid with the f16 and also familar with MSL Overrider and Dogfight Mode but honestly this is the erst video that explained to me why and when i should use missile overright over A/A mode and what the advantages are when pre-configurating the sub modes. Thanks tricker!
Best practiced in SEAD role with hostile air environment around. Permanently switching between A-G HARM (HAD) and missile override / DGFT mode when hostile jets are coming in on your position. Lots of fun.
Rocking that Swamp Fox livery! This was great.. I'm pretty solid with the 18, but still learning some aspects of the 16. This helps me out greatly. Looking forward to more air to air tutorials in the F 16.
I never use AA mode but some people prefers to setup the missile override as an ACM mode with 120s selected. I don’t like doing that but it’s your choice
I use the AA mode button because it has sms and hsd already on the mfd buttons, which means you can cycle the page with the DMS short press. You can set up the hsd button while in msl-override mode as well but that's just more work.
Outstanding video, Tricker. Thank you! One thing to add (And if you mentioned this in your other vids I apologize) but something I didn't know even after months of flying the Viper in DCS is that you can use Amraams in dogfight mode. Obviously, they don't have the high off bore shot capability that the 9X has, but if you're in a visual fight, it's outrageously easier than trying to use the missile override or AA settings. And you can still use the HMCS to TMS UP and lock targets before firing. Definitely worth noting. Just another tool in the toolbox for when you get to within visual range, but don't have any Fox 2s available.
@@TrickerDCS thank you. My buddy is from South Carolina, I’m from AZ and my other friend is from Florida. We are just starting and our first session together will be next week so all I need is to find a Florida livery
Damn I've been in the viper since it was released and I had NO idea you could configure your pages ahead of time and it would save them when you switch to these modes
After the bandit is locked in STT with an ACM mode, look at the FCR and hit TMS Left Short, it will provide an IFF scan. If there's a mode 4 green circle response, then it's friendly. I hope this makes sense to you.
@Tricker it does thanks. Most of the times unfortunately, if there a skirmish, and there's multiple targets, due to the pressure and all the people involved is really hard to tell from the HSD. Especially the fight is taken bellow the AWACS radar, let's hope this helps me. Thank you!
