I’d highly recommend you get a cheap joystick online (one that still has some capabilities but nothing expensive) and just try flying the free SU-25 frogfoot plane. The frogfoot is a high fidelity plane so it will give you an idea of what to expect with the fa18 and others. Do give it some thought though, put some time into smashing the learning curve and hopefully you will enjoy it an decide to buy a setup and some of the planes!
