@@peterkovinski8476 u do know that vietnamese flown mig19 mostly while russian from pilot fly mig21 in vietnam cause of how hard it is to fly and only some Vietnamese are qualified
The way you hunt and shoot down the second Phantom is really amazing. I also like how he tries to evade (popping up some black smoke!) after the first shots. These little amazing details make the DCS one of the best simulators.
Seems a reasonable scenario from the Russian perspective for a Frontal MiG-21bis (Mod 75B) versus three United States Air Force F-4 Deltas (F-110 Charlies under the Century designation). OKB Mikojana-Gurjevnogo did some internal redesign on the -21bis to fix fuel distribution issues that left the -21 through MF shorter-legged than planned; these fixes were retained through the -21bisSM (Mod 93 with R-25 turbojet; Mod 97 with RD-33 turbofan). The last kill was made particularly fascinating by target's discharge of flares against possible R-13M missile shots, thus the need to close to gun range for a fifty-round burst from the GP-9.
Now that I'm doing my best in dogfight tranining there are a lots of things to be done yet. I owe you a big time. Most stunning shots you showed us, yep. Thanx
thanks a lot. try to keep your nose under the incoming enemy to avoid his radarsignal. Mind that your enemy cannot shoot you with missles in hard G-turns. Only when his nose shows towards you while you change direction or fly straight ahead you bring yourself in big trouble.
for real i was surprised too. Maybe its cause of the fact that only the leader plane goes into attack mode, fires a sparrow and dropped off his external. When i shot down his leader he was in a hard turn. Could be the G-load forestalled the drop .
Pilot Absolut Yeah...that's possible. But I really love that puff of smoke, when he makes sudden changes in throttle position. I didn't even know, there is F-4. :-)
I've watched a few of these DCS vids and I had no idea flight simulators have becomes so realistic! So anyone with enough computer hardware power can play this? I only have a laptop so I would never have enough graphics power but quite compelling.. how much power do you need to make it so realistic.. Does someone who learns how to play this game know how to fly a real mig-21?
You need a computer with a fast CPU. Core i3, i5 or i7, DCS is only two threads, but performs a bit better on a four-thread CPU. Anything over 4 GHz is great, 3 GHz is still pretty good. For best graphical detail (and DCS World 2 has lots of that!) requires a very hefty graphics card. GTX 1070 is a good one, 1080 Ti is great--and expensive. In this video, you'e seeing DCS 1.5, not 2.1 which is the newest version. 2.x is much better, but incomplete--they're still working on developing it.
Oh absolutely. I have always wondered how a single engined fighter plane with thrust vectoring would be to fly like. Such as in the Dassault Mirage, Mikoyan MiG 21 and even MiG-15.
f-4 wasn't very effective in Vietnam, only small amount of aim-9 found their target, I guess with modern variants of AIM-9 they would be far more effctive. Funny that MIG's used P-13 rockets which were reverse engineered copies of AIM-9
The Americans are technology fetishists in comperison to the russians who are extremly effektive to deal with what they have. Maybe it has something to do with the size of their country or the fact that in the end of ww2 most of the german ingeneers fleed towards or get captured by the usa insteed of russia.
Since i am not an reallife pilot i cannot answer this question properly, but the Bleep you hear is the Radar Warning Signal, its possible to adjust its loudness. i am not disdurped by it as i am used to signal noises in cockpit. For me personaly its a very usefull instrument. The point on it is that the rwr in the mig 21 bis doesnt show you if friendly or hostile radar painting. you have to have a good situational awarness to filter its informations
in a Dogfight i use everything i have to accelerate and decelerate as quick as possible. At the end of the Demonstration you can see i have the flaps on takeoff. For example: ride your bicycle fast and you need a long radius around the Corners. Break quick before and you have your best corner speed. Yes sometimes i use speedbreaks in a dive , especially when i see the afterburner from my oponent glowing up, to come on six Position.
No phantom variant should ever lose to a Mig-21 in a dog fight. Vertical, 1 circle , 2 circle the mig can’t turn with the F-4. Any proficient pilot would have taken it into a rate fight immediately. it should have been mig kills first F-4, turns on the burner and runs home. When the second one was constantly reversing the turn after the rolling scissor, his “wing man “ (3rd F4) should have been on your 6 and lighting you up. Great vid but I’ll assume the AI was set on “ beginner” to let that situation happen lol
Пассивный полет, атакующих маневров минимум, как говно в небе болтается! Отсутствуют уходы от атаки противника, не менее 3-х раз был в положении активной атаки от фантома, вот только он не атаковал почему-то, поэтому и выжил.
www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/ or trough steam. DCS-World comes free with one attack plane (su25t) and a p51. all other aircraft are download modules you need to pay for.
Harold The F-4 was not at all designed for any kind of bombing. It was designed as a long-range high-speed interceptor and fleet defense fighter tasked with shooting down bombers. It just so happened that it was what the Navy and Army had at the time and so it was in Vietnam where it excelled in bombing missions.
did the mig-21 ever dogfight with an f-5? The f-5 seemed like the more dangerous american aircraft.. when i visited vietnam 20 years ago they still had an f-5 on display outside the presidential palace and an huey helicopter. the f-4 looks fat and slow compared to a mig-21 that is, just by looking at them..
Sam Khoury F-5Es and older models of the MiG-21bis engaged in several dogfights during the Ogaden War (Ethiopia vs Somalia). Ethiopian F-5s shot down several MiG-21s with missiles and cannon fire. In Vietnam however, there are no recorded engagements of South Vietnamese F-5 engagements against the 21s. warisboring.com/which-is-better-the-f-5e-tiger-ii-or-the-mig-21-e92e5c5a1ef3#.7ejtjp8ij
Sam Khoury You are correct. In close range dogfights, the F-5 is much better than the F-4. It is not as fast, but it will outmaneuver the F-4 by far. During Vietnam exercises, F-5s simulated MiG-21s during practice with the F-4s. Fun Fact: During the Blue Flag war games, we still use F-5s as aggressor squadrons to train our F-15, F-16, and I believe even our F-18 squadrons.
This content i have produced some years ago. AI at this point was not programmed very well and still need progress at this point today. Skill level was set on highest. But even than its easy to shoot down an F4 with some practice. And i flow this mission for a few times, wich make it much more easy for me.
I'm not buying any of this ?, 3 F-4's, against 1 MiG-21, you children that play War with your video games?, have no inclination about what war is all about ?
