The R77 I have always thought felt underpowered. Looking at the missile is similar dimension as an aim120. Aerodynamically speaking shouldn’t the r77 have a lot more kinetic energy with the tail grated fins shouldn’t air flow through them like nothing? On the real R77 does the fins not create lift ? Rule of thumb for R77 for me is wait till you are under 20km usually around 15-12 to garuntee a hit but 15-12 is rather close range which brings me back to my original point they feel underpowered based of there design.
I searched around forums and a lot of people were saying it's because these are the original "test batch" R-77s and the standard in service one should be R-77-1 with better aerodynamics. I too personally find it difficult to believe the Russians would make a Fox 3 for their newer aircraft that would be shorter ranged than their existing Fox 1s
I would like to see Mig29 Sm variant or SMT. This is 9.12 S maybe, but it still is missing PUS, thats a small screen right in front of a pilot, placed before ILS. And some instruments looks like they are not working for example Oxygen is always 0 and some stuff like that...
ok, nice tutorial, may i ask two things please, 1; how you changed the hud symbology from russian to english? 2; How you got the missiles to leave the rails. I am able to slew the "box" over the target and lock it up but the missiles do not fire. Also my "radar" screen reflects exactly what i have on my HUD. I hope i'm not asking silly questions but this is all rather new!! many thanks
@@MrStefanbojan for 1. In the game settings there is an option called 'Avionics language', change it from 'native' to 'english'. for 2. the radar screen is just a repeater for the HUD, basically a backup. Use the HUD for radar use
@@TheBananaminge also it would be great if you could make short tutorial explaining the HUD like what is SCN and how it can be used what is TWS2 and in what situation we should use and explanation of diferent radar modes for MIG29. thanks!
@@ikonane R-77 only, because they have their own targeting system on board. In TWS you don't actually paint a target. You just keep track of them, i.e. the computer plots their movement internally and sends it to the missiles via datalink. This information is good enough for a missile like the R-77 to get close enough until it goes pitbull and does the rest itself. Semi-active missiles like the R-27R require the reflection of a strong radar "beam" to find their target. So these don't work with TWS.
