Welcome to my Digital Combat Simulator - Mission editor tutorial! As per the video you have probably had some desire to create DCS missions at some point in the past. If this is something you have been so inclined to do but have not been skilled enough, or found good enough DCS mission editor tutorials, then please follow along as I establish my DCS mission editor Miniseries!
Today we strap on our MSFS2020 goggles and have the AI move infantry from one location to another! We look at more advanced techniques in planning to have a mission complete in interesting ways.
This is a really blitzed through example of how it works and does not show the UI as I would expect that it is fairly intuitive, but if this is something you are in fact interested in, please let me know in the comments below!

@@yetanothergamingfail I fly the F-16 in the Persian gulf often. I though it would be cool if when I return to base and park…the fuel, maint., and crew chiefs trucks/personnel would come out to meet me. thanks Rick

I there a way to set waypoints for the troops after disembarking? Also, I am trying to get a score for troops & cargo transported to a zone - should work, I've been following your tutorials closely but I cant get a score. I made a trigger displaying messages upon feel very, e.g. Thanks for the ride! So its recognized when the troops arrive at the zone but scores never materialize

@@yetanothergamingfail OK, I already made some progress. I had the whole thing created without tasks to pick up anything, just for single player. Now I created tasks, embark troops or cargo, and offload it into my zone. I let Ai fly it like you do. It works. I'll check if the points are allocated, too, but basically this isn't too important

@@falanglao01 So if you want to have points/flags etc tick up for every group moved, set up a zone at the delivery location and name it (in this example its "landing zone") Create a new trigger Name it Under "Conditions" do "Part of group in zone" set the group to your infantry being dropped off Set the zone to "Landing Zone" Under actions, do "add score" (or whatever points are, cant remember off the top of my head) Create a new trigger just like this for every group of infantry you move The reason why you do "part of group in zone" is because if one of your infantry dies at any point (DCS is a buggy mess sometimes) it will cause it to fail, so you only need part of the group instead of all of it To answer your other question, Infantry will halt when "embarking to transport" and after that they will continue onto their next waypoint, so just set the next waypoint after the pickup waypoint to be wherever you want them to go after that Hope this helps, and apologies for the late response!

Hello. i cant get them to embark to "any" transport. It only works for me when i designate a specific chopper.

Hi! Which kind of helicopter and infantry are you using, this may be the case for specific units, I think one that doesn't often like embarking is the CH47, always worth trying "any" first, then picking specific aircraft later if that doesn't work

@@yetanothergamingfail Thanks for the quick reply! i was using US infantry, but when i got in the hind (Blue version) they did not show up under the troop transport coms menu. So I switched to "any" and got in the Huey and same thing. Its only worked when i specified the MI-8.

Thank you for the video, but I got a question: how do I create new tasks for the troops after disembark?

Hi, simply add a waypoint after the disembarking point. Infantry will wait at the embarking spot until they are picked up, and then once disembarked will resume with the rest of their waypoints

Thanks very useful - Ive been trying to get a continuous loop running with 2 helos, 1 ferrying troops from A to B then the other flying in to freey them back from B to A, rinse & repeat, but it ll comes to a stop after 1 cycle?

Hi Al, I’m not sure if you ever got this working. You need to use a switched trigger, the once unit is dropped they turn on trigger, ready for pickup. Once units are picked up trigger pickup is off, as you rotate these triggers, the helo’s can pick up again because the trigger is reset after a drop. As a side note, you could use a counter, this would count up, until the limit is reached. The helicopters are simple to do, just put a goto waypoint 1 after last waypoint.
