@@mikkihintikka7273 yea the community is good and accepting usually but yeah its not really bs as he said it lol there is dudes like me who shoot at enemies with fox 3s and lose the lock 1 second after shooting the missile and hitting friendlies but true the player quality is p good
Good video concept Pascale, subbed. More suggested rules from someone who's been in multiplayer since the LOMAC days more than a decade ago. 1. Clear the runway as soon as you can, don't loiter on the runway or refuel there. On the carriers, don't loiter on the catapults. 2. Keep the taxiways clear. If you must rearm there then move completely to the side and make yourself small (fold or sweep wings for jets that can do that) in narrow taxiways. 3. It's not about 'you'. Nobody wants to hear what you can do, if you want to be noticed then show your skills without comment. 4. If everyone on a server quietly doing air-to-ground and you want to do air-to-air don't come and slaughter defenceless ground pounders and helos. Instead go and find a server with air-to-air opponents. Otherwise in order to satisfy your lame ego you ruin the flying time of others. 5. Many people have busy lives and limited flying time, don't ruin other people's experience as they may have been waiting all month for an hour to fly. 6. Learn to land. Seriously. It's not that hard. Start 1000 feet AGL and get to approach speech. 7. Read the mission brief. There is no good pilot who doesn't know at least the concept of the mission. That'll stop you killing friendly air defences. 8. When in voice comms don't interrupt folks talking. Listen and think about what you say - add something meaningful or ask questions. 9. If admin bans you go away and reflect why they did that. We don't ban unless your behaviour is egregious. 10. Ask for help. People are happy to teach you tactics or help with the next step of a procedure. 11. Read the manuals or watch online tutorials. There is zero excuse for not learning about a procedure you need. While people will help to aid your memory few have time to teach you from scratch. 12. Follow the rules of the server. If it says no taxiway takeoffs then don't do them. Land on the left of the runway if that is the rule. Unless you love being banned. 13. Manage your fuel. If you think you are elite because you ran around on afterburner but could not make it back to base then you look like a chump, because you are. Never ever run out of fuel. Good pilots bring their platforms back every time they are undamaged. If you run out of fuel you are not a good pilot. 14. If someone kills you in fair fight it is good manners to complement them with "gk" (good kill) or S! (salute!). If they thought you fought well then they may respond with "gf" (good fight). Acknowleging the work and skill they brought to bear in the fight builds up your own reputation as a decent person who can recognize skill in others. 15. Don't steal kills. If someone else is engaging a target you can support by tracking the target and preparing to engage if your coalition mate cannot complete the kill. Do not fire and try steal the kill they worked to manuever the enemy into. 16. If you want to do anything that can affect another player you can - just ask for their consent first. Keep cool if they say "no", they may have reasons you don't yet know and they cannot explain right now. 17. Don't take stuff so personally. Your ego is a tool that you need to manage as much as your energy state. Dial your ego up when you need aggression and dial it down to humility the rest of the time. 18. Practice, practice, practice. There is no shortcut to getting good. You must spent time and focussed concentration to improve. 19. Realise people don't care. This is good is that they quickly forget your mistakes. You care about you, they care about themselves - don't expect them to care about you. 20. "I'm ok, you're ok" - other people are ok and you don't need to assert you are better by putting them down. You are ok and you don't need to put yourself down either. Then we can all get along. 21. You always have something more to learn or improve on - air combat is like golf, you can always improve your game. Understand that no matter how well you have done there is someone somewhere that is better at that than you. So keep improving.
i love this sim and fly the a-10c all the time. i have always wanted to go online it sounds amazing, i have gotten so far as too scan the channels, just got to do it and get over this stupid shyness.
#11 Watch this again, again, and again. #IFF #IFF #IFF #IFF #IFF #IFF #IFF #IFF #IFF #IFF #sorry Thank you for this as Ive never MP yet. I know what to do now. Cheers!!!
Chopper, come on surely you mean don't be a dobber. I just started into multiplayer around a month now, have srs and listen into radio chat but by nature I'm quite reserved and don't really know how to "speak" to people I don't know. Finally used it for the first time last night, kept it to minimum. F10 and zoom in/out are bound to hotas cause why not.
God, I still see people do all of that wrong... Last week, in a single sessions, I had 3 eventful landings, one with a guy pulling up on the runway when I was 10 seconds for touchdown, one when a guy just took off from the taxiway and steered hard above the runway while I was on approach, and one with a guy who decided landing right behind me was a good idea, crashing and taking my wing with him. And in that same session, I had a friendly shoot an aim7 at me cause apparently using IFF in the F16 was too hard for him, and later on, while coming back after taking damage, I called I was 20kts out from the base, and my bearing, saying I was damaged and needed to land fast on both SRS and chat, only to be locked by an F18, I called the buddyspike, checked on the F10 map, identified the guy, called out his name and telling him he was locking me up, and he still shot...
Got a question about IFF: Does the IFF system (Say, in the hornet for example), rely on the other player also turning their IFF on? Or does it just know?
At the moment Iff is really simplyfied, but in the future the other guy will have to turn it on for it to work. Also the iff can't confirm that a target is an enemy, it only listens for the correct response, but if the response is incorrect, it could be a friendly with a defect / switched off transponder, a neutral aircraft or an aircraft that has no transponder.
Can you be too good at DCS? I have had people get upset with me because I take out too many targets. Is this right? I know another player who has the B-1 mod that can carry 30 GBU bombs and can take out a whole base in one pass and it pisses people off. I normally can take out 8- 10 targets in one pass in my harrier. Is this wrong?
We have voice chst in the game now and in a few months is going to be better the srs anyway. Also study sim lol you do realize iff is simplified(exept jf17)
Of course I realise IFF is simplified, as are a lot of the systems, I’ve been using it for years irl. We’ll have to wait for the in game voice, for now SRS is our best option to simulate radio.
there are still idiots on the servers its why i gave up on multi player hadn't played in over a year an due to the lockdown my son took a healthy interest in dcs world, so we thought we would have a fly together an learn some circuits and air to air refueling not much point in going into a fight if you can't refuel could we get air borne no we just kept getting shot down on take off by 2 f18's, tried 2 more servers only for the same thing to happen constantly blue on blue needless to say we gave up, there should be a server side script running that automatically kicks players that carry out blue on blue attacks at blue airfields no need for iff as its no accident its deliberate
@@designamk1160 I seem to have a troll magnet they follow me where ever i go lol, even happened in a server which had the kick for this thing and yes it worked the player was kicked but the damage is already done i have to sit through a start up again i have even seen the same player come back in an do the same thing again its just kids who can't fight so they go for team kills, that being said it does not deter me much i have some servers i join which have sensible players now so all is good.
I have, with about 20-30 individuals. It worked fairly well. I've also done it when everyone tries insisting on SRS, tuned into the required frequencies, and proceeding to watch those same people fail at the simplest of tasks because they were too worried about using SRS and not having a basic understanding of their plane. Communication is key, but the stuff provided ingame and through discord is more than enough, if you're not in the stone age. The rest of the video is spot on though, especially the F10 stuff.
Great video! Really well put together and edited. While it isn't etiquette per se, I think it should also be said that players shouldn't fire fox-3s into a furbal. Most of the team kills I see are from situations where someone is pumping an AMRAAM or Aim-54 into a fight with a friendly and bandit in close proximity. I don't think there is malice behind it, just a lack of understanding the disadvantages of using those weapon types in that situation. Perhaps an idea for a later video!
Agreed. You should never fire an AIM-54 into an area where friendlies are within 5-10miles of the target, especially if you are firing it from 40+ miles away. When it goes pitbull, who the hell knows if it'll stay on target. I know I get heartburn every time I fire a Phoenix on GaW and then see a friendly fly towards the enemy formation.
Thank you for your reply. It is a great point and a topic that I will be covering in a future video. I am an ex RAF Fighter Control instructor (GCI) and I will be talking about this and many other things in future videos. Thank you again for taking the time to comment.
DCS really needs to integrate something like SRS to the game itself instead. It's a bit much for folks to expect a third party optional install with a whole 'nother layer of bindings to be necessary.
@@TacticalPascale All the new players are trying to use the built in voip and all the elders are in SRS....it's not helping the multiplayer side of the game. And i tend to agree with Squirrel....no 3rd party software just to chat in a game that now HAS voice chat. A LOT of ppl are cautious of 3rd party programs due to hackers/viruses, etc.
Number One for the Aerobatics servers. Don't form up on someone without telling them. Don't know how many times I've had a mid-air because someone joined up in an EXTREMELY tight formation, I didn't see them, and I rolled 90 and pulled hard. The pilot you're shadowing may be doing airwork to learn the plane better. Remember, sims are the only place where it's not a bad idea to have a drink and fly.
IFF rules should also include turning on IFF lol, I can't tell you how many times I've seen friendly fire happen online due to someone who's kinda new forgetting to turn on IFF
I like when I get team killed and people are like like "next time turn on your D/L" and I'm like "huh? this plane doesn't have a D/L, or IFF for that matter"
Oh there are plenty, but new players shooting down teammates because they don’t know how to operate IFF is a problem on multiplayer. Not only do they cock up the other person but they risk a server ban etc
*** Rule X - Don't try to hurry the guy in front of you when you Taxi. :) *** Rule X1 - Don't interfere with a group trying to practice formation flying, ask if you can join first. *** Rule X2 - Do your trick flying away from the airport traffic . Don't be that guy who takes out a whole row of planes on the taxi way when you do a low level stunt pass.
I'd love to see you do more DCS comm's videos (non-gci), its the one thing that has me not joining multiplayer... i've seen a few videos where you talk about it a bit and theres one huey video, but i'd love to see more of that, multiplayer (when you watch enough videos) feels really intimidating just because of the comms side. I feel like i know the planes i want to fly well enough, but saying the right thing at the right time... mostly just about the airport side of things... i.e. what to say when you join, all the thigns you should say until you're in the air and then what to say to come back in
hey all...after more than 14k hours on fsx / vatsim I have made the deiscion to start something new. So I made my desicion to switch over to DSC. So my question is, at dep /arrival procedure is it kinda vatsim? thank you
Rule 11. Dont be a bored troller there to whine and make others game play miserable, all because your life sucks and your mommy beats you too much... Out.
the sad truth is most friendly fire incidents in any mmo are on purpose. ppl r assholes. ive seen it 1000 times. ppl don't want to win with skill, they want to ruin someones day.
I was using iff in my fav server and i accidently shot down a friendly i got jicked with 74.06 penalty points is that a lot and will be able to join again?
I can't use my mic on my pc because it has two ports (one for mic and one for headphones, I've tried buying a splitter, using the IO ports, ect) so should I play MP without communicating? (I can still hear audio, but I cannot speak)
I'm still nervous of talking on SRS. Artillery signaller for 12 years and I feel like a 16 year old again and worry about cocking it up, but I dont think anyone will jesus me on 2 barrels in my coveralls and kidney dig me anymore lol.
rule no 11 do what every you feel like its a game enjoy it any way you can if your a douche feel free to shoot anyone down. ITS A BLASTED GAME. if u wanna pretend that ur a professional do so ( then get shoot down by a douche). its a damn game if you take it to serious your gonna get a heart attack. remember some of the people you are playing against have been sat in the moms basement for the past 8 hours are are probably so fat that there stuck in there chairs lacking exercise and sunlight. remember its a game no one can die the more friendlies you shoot down the better cause maybe it will get someone of there computer and out of the house and get a normal life
I agree, you should be having fun. But what makes it right to ruin what someone else is doing? If you do what you suggest and go for a run and someone starts throwing dog shit at you would it be a nice? Rule 0: be cool, don’t be an asshole.
The f-5e doesn’t have iff as I have understood...is there a tactic to do it without? I saw someone use the f-10 map to see if the plane he has picked up is on the map..if not it’s an enemy...is that a legit method?
If you are flying in an F5 without IFF you need to be able to communicate on the radio to call "buddy Spike" when you're locked up by a friendly. Regarding A2A engagements, you will be visual with your target to use your sidewinders, therefore eliminating the need for IFF as you can visually identify the target.
One thing to add... You don't have to use the ingame-voice chat, there are plugins for things like Team Speak that can be used as well, or, you can use Discord and exercise radio discipline. Whatever you decide to do, use some form of voice coms, it will go over much smoother with people than trying to read a text message while in ACM
Yes I know, SRS being the most common one which I have done full installation videos on. Our group normally separates people into flights of 4 on discord and liaises with others on SRS
So, your radar symbology for friendlies is different. They will also appear friendly on data links if it’s selected by them. Of course, AWACS can declare too
New to your channel and just starting to get involved in multiplayer, thanks to a computer upgrade. Great advice. I have SRS installed - can't seem to get voice coms if anyone can help[ much appreciated. Again good channel I will be a regular.
I have another rule that should be included. The other day I was in "Just Dogfight" and I ended up leaving the server because I was having ZERO fun, Why was I having zero fun you ask? Well some Dickhead was cherry picking off of the runway and I would just get airborne and wham, a missile slams me. That's just not cool to do to people Do not cherry pick people like that. I left and played elsewhere. .
What is SRS? I'm familiar with voice chats through team speak back in the day and use Discord for chat when playing with my friends for games I play now. Been looking to get into DCS.
These really are ten essential rules for DCS multiplayer etiquette. I agree that SRS is essential, it transforms the game to a whole new level. On a semi-serious server like Hoggits, you'll have players playing GCI, and usually you'll also have Overlordbot as a backup as well. Overlord's tripwire warnings have saved me a few times. The guys on Hoggits are chill, can have a bit of a laugh and a joke around when things aren't happening. I think one rule you missed is to not fire Fox-3 active radar missiles into a furball because of the risks of the missile locking a friendly. It's just too risky.
Hey everyone! I just started DCS training on the A-10C and I’m just starting to stick my landings better and better. Playing keyboard & mouse with TRACK IR, but what I DONT have is a wing-man or anyone to show me the ropes online. Would anyone be willing to add me to their Discord server for friendly multiplayer? I am curious how you actually communicate between planes. Thank you all. Stay safe!
I was all lined up on the runway powering up to take of on mp then some guy farther down the runway hoped on the run way to take off as I was moving, my callsign in game is drifter so I drifted around him and was able to take off, definitely look both ways or use f10
