Great stuff, cheers Torni. I imagine that if you had multiple waypoints for the ER, so long as the IP (or whatever it would be called) is on the target side of the obstacle, you could set an appropriate cruise height for the ingress, and still be golden to have it fly over mountain ranges or the like?
Yeah I think once the missile heads from the last steerpoint it’s been assigned and onto the target it begins it’s terminal phase decent down to skimming the floor but I’m not 100% sure.
Questions: 1. How did you get the Slam-ER to travel so low after its turn point. You set it to medium….so I’m confused on how you got low flight. 2. Does it matter where you launch the missile if you want it to abide by your pre set turning points? I’m having the slam-we turn in weird places….long before it’s supposed to or off to the left or right of where it was supposed to. The whole turn point thing is a disaster….I’ve got everything down other than that.
The undated scratchpad has a L+L function to tick under the chat box. It give gives you a marker on the map to copy all coordinates and elevation information wihtout having to type it out. Which is great for making a detailed list of targets or waypoints. Best mod in DCS by far.
So was it really a phone call or a mountain that caused the restart? Wink wink, Nudge nudge! Great video mate I set up my own mission after watching your video and both the SLAM and SLAM-ER worked like a charm in both pp and TOO modes. The only problem was I could barely see anything on the channel(set to proper channels)even playing with bright and contrast, Aft/Normal antenna position. Day time mission. Thanks, I'm going to make a mid 1980's mission using them both.
Haha it was a combo of the two 🤪 the first recording the SLAM-ER hit the mountain so I changed the waypoint and then the 2nd attempt I had a phone call 🤦🏼♂️ tricky little bugger to get working haha
If you fire 2 Slam and 2 Slam-ER all at the same time, do you still get to see them on datalink individually? I tend to only be able to see one and the others unavailable for view on the datalink. Is my setrup wrong. The whole linking system is damn confusing.
Off the top of my head, 32Gig RAM, 2080ti GPU, i9 9900 CPU… if you head to my twitch page in the about info my current pc specs are in there in full I know that 👌🏻
what about he angle, hdg and speed configuration on the SLAMR? From some fa18 tutorial I think it's about the side and angle it hits the target? Perhaps yours was flying so low because of was set to 0? Or is it about the target's speed and heading or something?
I have not mate, it would definitely be an option though for sure. As long as there is no point defence SAM’s on an objective it is a very potent long range weapon to have in the arsenal. I wonder if it can destroy a runway? 🤪🤪
Hey Torni - I've noticed that your Mission Editor icons are a little different from what mine look like when I create missions. This is a fairly new video, so I wouldn't think it a result of an older version or anything. For instance, my aircraft end up being sort of egg shaped with a flat bottom, and colored red/blue depending on faction. Yours, for lack of a better term, look more like stick figures. If I scroll way down, I can actually see the plane type, but I like yours better because you can see the area around them much better, and they just look sort of cool. Eve your static icon symbols are different. Is that a result of a setting, or mod, or what...? Can you please let me know how I can convert my Mission Editor to look more like yours? Thanks man, and keep this great content rolling...you are really easy to understand and help me tremendously! Thanks man!
In the main menu options there is a selection from NATO to Russian somewhere in there. I’m not at my PC right now but you change the setting from NATO to Russian and you will get my icon style 👌🏻
