Ook Poolse militairen leverden een belangrijke bijdrage aan de bevrijding van Nederland. Het meest bekend is waarschijnlijk het optreden van de Poolse parachutisten bij Driel en Oosterbeek tijdens operatie Market Garden. Daarnaast was ook de 1st Polish Armoured Division actief op Nederlands grondgebied. Deze film volgt deze divisie van Normandië tot aan de bevrijding van Breda op 29 oktober 1944. De ‘1 Dywizja Pancerna’ bewaakte gedurende de winter een sector langs de Maas en doorkruiste in het voorjaar Oost-Nederland op weg naar Duitsland.

Very nice tribute to Poland - their Country was first overrun by Germany and then lost to the Soviets for the next 44 years, but they proudly fought for the Allies with loses that were not known to their Country for many years nor could they return to the east and remained in exile.

Yes very nice tribute indeed. Some Canadians, British and even about 800 Dutch units (9-14.Coy./Netherlands Interior Forces,Commando Brabant sector Tholen Island- St. Philipsland Peninsula- Moerdijk) served under 1.Polish Armoured Division for a 2 month period from Jan.10 to Apr.14 1945. Before that from Nov.9 1944 under Canadian and British command. Together the Dutchmen served 130 days (4,5 months) on this front line without one line in Dutch history books you get in school. My Granddad was one of them. By sheer luck I discovered this some years ago doing research on it

Polish people need much more respect from the Netherlands. Much much love from the Netherlands to Poland...Many work in the Netherlands at this time, about 250,000 and they are more than welcome!

Fuck them all, their gratefullness or lack of it, We are like we are, and no one would never take it away from us! My granduncle served in legendary 1 Armoured Division. Now we do the same supporting Ukrainian freedom. Our ancestors were doing such thinks many times in the past and now are doing that just for free for the Ukr because we are Poles and we survived for more than 1000 years in our Land between such superpowers like germans and russkis. We have heatress to gernazis and soviets in our gens and even now most of us are fueled with that feelings.
