When he pulled his gun, she cowered, raised both hands and said, "I'm sorry". He ignored her submission and continued to walk toward her shouting commands as if she were threatening him. You don't close distance with someone you fear will scald you. He was the aggressor, and if she threw the water, she had the right to defend herself however she could. In a life-or-death situation, you take whatever shot you can get. You don't call your shots in advance. His level of indifference afterward wasn't even human.
Thank you. Ppl keep debating whether or not she threw the water. It's irrelevant if she threw it or not and if she did it was self defense. The cop for no reason threatened her life by saying he would shoot her in the face and pointed a gun at her. The cop had the ability, opportunity, and intent to shoot her.
THE COPs tell her to shut off the stove and then she says something about Jesus and then the cop GOES CRAZY and or DEMONIC ! LISTEN TO WHOLE EXCHANGE this is not even close to something else
Not at all. We pointed that out in our discussion, along the other inexcusable things he said, and actions he failed to take after shooting her (for example, failing to provide aid).
Never happened. He "chuckled" when his partner got nervous and went right to avoid what he said "was hot water". She even asks him "where are you going". At some point, (which the videos will never be able to recapture), the "shooter" realizes this isn't a joke and gives her an extremely harsh command to disarm.
@@cliftonharmon2403 Only other incredulous response I hear is at his partner's belief she can be rescued. When breathing was determined to still be present, first aid for blood loss was rendered.
She put the fucking pan down and didn't have anything in her hands. Then she ducked on the floor..... Like she was cowering. How does that pose any physical threat. 💯🤷 There is no fucking justification for his actions. 👌 Period. End of story. That's not self defense. 💯
i’m assuming you haven’t taken the time to make sure what you’re commenting is true or accurate.. it *clearly* shows her with the pot over her right shoulder, lunging forward & throwing it.. it clearly if you paid attention shows the water splashes with a semi large amount in the entry way & the pot landing on the blk computer chair.. i get it, it makes the whole situation different. & that’s an issue because we all want to be able to say he this when she did absolutely nothing wrong.. but unfortunately her *ONLY* mistake was picking that pot up & indeed throwing it.. outside of that being said.. *this evil man in every way was wrong & completely unjustifiable for using excessive force to that level against her* most importantly taking a life that didn’t do anything to warrant this outcome.. but *_2 things can be true at once_*

But, I digress.
Yes but the video captures the first few seconds b4 he started the video which she is already pouring the water out of the pot as he moved forward to shoot her. It's on the bodycam
@prettygirlus9008 his body camera was activated when he first arrived on the scene. He deactivated his body camera right before entering her home. He reactivated his body cam right after he discharged his firearm. The camera captured a few minutes before he reactivated his body camera. He had sinister, ill-intentions prior to entering her home. Why else would he deactivate his body camera before making entrance into her home??? Hmmm?? Think about it...
He didn’t even try to calm this scene down and he pulled his gun. Not to mention the first aid kit he didn’t get. Why don’t nobody know who he is? Why do he still have a job? This is crazy!!!

Why tf would he close in?? She was hunkered down and not moving towards him with the pot. The only answer I can think of is that he had 0 regard for her life, the way he talked about her after shooting her and his refusal to lend aid confirms this. That MANIAC continued to say "Drop the pot", while Sonya was laying on the ground DYING! What is even more DISTURBING is why did both of the MANIACS continued to hold the gun on that precious lady? Why?? The officer who stood by why didnt he tell his MANIAC partner no dont shoot, and just say to Sonya could you put the pot in the sink and come back to the living room? NO! The steam from the water that was in the pot can be seen right next to the officer and where she threw the pot at him. A pro tip: Just because the officers didn't get hit with hot water doesn't mean she didn't throw hot water at them.
You all do realize that you can't go in someone else's house, act aggressive, then corner them, then cry self defense. That's not how self defense works.
This cop was just looking for an excuse to make her a criminal. This ex-cop needs to be in jail. Forever. She held up the pot to try to deflect and shield herself. She was not throwing the water in my opinion, even if she was, she was in defense mode. This is pathetic.
I agree!! She was frightened out of her mind. Just to hear someone say they are about to blow your "f" brains out basically, anyone who feared for their life would instinctively try and protect themselves. She was definitely trying to shield her face. The pot was in her right hand and she was crouched in a downward position, while her left hand with the red mitt was covering her forehead.
Imagine telling 2 cops that you’re going to put the pot into the sink and you head for the sink to do just that. You never leave the vicinity of the sink and they get scared that you’re going to throw hot water on them and pull their guns on you and come towards you in your own home which you never invited them into. And mind you, the cops were the ones that told you to go and tend to the pot. The prosecutors are going to be so excited with all the material they have to work with in court.

Her saying “hand me that Bible” could be because she keeps important documents with her Bible. It seems to the man here to not be related to the request but that doesn’t exactly make it so. I don’t think it matters whether she threw the water or not. The primary deputy drew his gun and threatened to kill her at gunpoint while demanding that she drop the pot which wasn’t even in her hands at that point. Once he did that, he threw the whole situation into chaos and put her in fear of her life. I think anyone would be in fear for their life. Moreso a person having some kind of mental crisis.

I'm from the town where this happened. My Dad was part of the Springfield PD. I went to high school with guys who eventually joined on with the Sheriff's office. Please don't judge Springfield by this one incident. There are lots of great people on the force here and they would lay their life on the line to protect us. I'm heartbroken by all this; at all this ugliness that was just layed on our doorstep by this awful person. I love our men and women in uniform but we have got to try and do better. This woman didn't have to die. Look at the video, she was absolutely terrified from the moment he drew his gun on her. You can tell what kind of person he is too later when they asked him who he was with and his reply was "I was with dipshit". He didn't even show any respect for his partner.
There is no police department where civilians expect all police are like him, but we have yet to find any police department that will protect civilians from police like him and that's a problem. We can protect ourselves from anyone posing a threat except the police. Despite the overwhelming population expressing distrust in police
I have to go back and look at the video; I missed that he called his partner, "dipshit". Wow. I heard from another platform, that his partner was a rookie deputy and was only sworn in since September 11, 2023. The name of his partner was also provided. I don't know for sure if this is true regarding who his partner was, but it all makes sense now that this new Rookie probably was afraid of Grayson, possibly.
She did not throw the water. However even if she did, she has a right to protect her home from ANYONE. After someone random threatens you to shoot you in the face what would you do?
I find it encouraging that these two people are so upset about this catastrophe. They are honest about the problems, but we all know that the obstacles to solving them are really significant.
I am a conservative and a Republican, BUT I believe changes do need to be made in Policing. I don't believe in Defunding the Police, but these are the changes I think need to be made, 1) All Police Officers should have to maintain a Federal or State license to be a Police Officer, no different then a Doctor that has to have a state medical board issue them a license to practice medicine, or a Lawyer being required to pass a State Bar and have a license to practice law. If a police officer is fired or resigns in lieu of termination should have his license pulled and unable to be hired elsewhere. There is a case in Florida, where a Police Officer planted drugs on over 27 people during traffic stops to get promoted. He literally ruined 27 families lives. There are many cases like this. 2) Qualified immunity needs to be removed, why is it when a Police Officer violates someone's rights and is sued the taxpayer's have to pay for it. This is just wrong. 3) Civil Forfeiture needs to be made unlawful, unless the person is arrested for a actual crime. I wish the Democrats and Republican's would come together and actually serve the public and address this matter in a rational way instead of gas lighting. I am tired of the dam THIN BLUE LINE GARABAGE. I was Active Duty Military for 26 years, when we removed someone from the Air Force for disciplinary reasons, they could not go join the Marines, Army, Navy, Coast Guard. Same should hold true for Cops, if you are fired or resign in liue of discipline, they should not be allowed to join a different police force.
Democrat here, and thank you ! Finally, someone talking some sense. Let's get together and stop the bullshit. I'm not for defunding the police either. Invest more into pre-screening, reacurring psych evaluations, and better training. To your point - no rehiring for nutjobs like this. Had these things already been in place, assholes like this wouldn't have slipped through. He had way too many red flags and no business wearing a badge.
Not only had he worked for 6 agencies and had 2 dui's but he also had a bad conduct discharge from the army! Still, the fraternal order of police filed a grievance about his discharge following this shooting. Reminds me of Daniel Auderer, the head of the police union in Seattle belly-laughing about the pedestrian who got hit during a pursuit. The blue line hurts the police force by empowering bad conduct, reducing public trust, and eroding law and order.
I don't think so but if I'm wrong please share your source. It seems he was kicked out for a DUI and received a "General discharge under honorable conditions" This is better than a dishonorable discharge but not as good as an honorable discharge. If I was the hiring manager, I'd certainly inquire as to what those conditions of discharge were.
Saying the water was boiling is a incorrect statement that makes the officers POV better, you can not tell if the water is boiling unless you right up on the pot or there is a lid over it, there is no indication that the water is boiling, I never seen a lick of steam even when the water hit the floor. For all we know the water could have been some what hot. What those officers did was cowardly. The cover officer should have turned off the fire to the stove, since when do officers allow suspects or civilians close to deadly weapons in their presence "Ma'am I'm going to go ahead and turn off your stove for you, just until we leave" easy.

And the fact that you choose to focus on some baseless defense that he killed her so he wouldn't get scolded with hot water nonsense, ask yourself why you are seemingly NOT more concerned with how aggressively he treated her, his threat to shoot her in the face BEFORE any alleged throwing of water, him giggling that it was a head shot and no need to administer medical aid and called her a crazy b*!tch while she was bleeding out on her kitchen floor. She knew her life was in danger when she called 911 again and didn’t want to get off the phone and the operator was rude and unprofessional as well. The lady was clearly distraught and he disregarded it totally, I understand that your job is stressful but to be so careless is crazy to me.
The lady said "I rebuke You in the Name of Jesus" as a response to the suggestion by the cover deputy that she may throw the hot water at him not because she has mental issues.
Number 1 thing, if the cops was concerned about the boiling water... Well, from a distance of about 8 to 10 feet, that boiling water would have at most gotten a few mild burns on his body. 10 feet away, boiling water pellets flying in the air, are cooled down to the point of not being hot enough to hurt them. The cop was a loose cannon.
And if it was his legitimate concern, he wouldn't have closed the distance with her. He would have backed away or, better yet, just left as the call was over.
The book Mental Health and De- Escalation should be a required manual used in training for every officer around the world and should be used to issue CEU's after successfully completing a short quiz.

Has anyone seen the video where her son said he had already had contact with at least one of these officers earlier in the day regarding his mom's mental health. They already knew she had mental health issues. There is also information that this family already has a history with police. I think she was scared.
I believe she was a TI ⭐ Targeted Individual. Her mental HEALTH was the problem. A strong healthy mind can't be controlled. It's a battle for the mind. Cult type stuff going on here 😮.
My question is did they ever have prior contact with Ms. Massey. Where were her children, what time of night was it. Where were the officers when they got the call. Why weren't they more concerned about the vandalized vehicle in her driveway⁉️ He could see into the home through the window why'd he ask "what took you so long to come the door". He was looking @ her the whole time.
And in my opinion the most tragic thing of all is that the officer didn't have to ask for her ID he didn't have to go in the house and neither did anything to de-escalate the situation
Really , that's probably Y that 😈 asked Sonya "how is her mental state of mind" , if that's the case soon as he asked her that he was planning sumn Krazy, then gone say she planned the set up when he the one was planning it!!! He's the real Krazy one!!! That's Y he invited his own self n!! I hope it all come out about the fiance ,him & Sonya to know what really happened between em three! I wonder do she kno how Krazy Sean really is?!
She had put the pot down and was holding her hands up with oven mitts on them !! And he still shot her!!!! Like why would he think it’s okay to pull a gun on someone with a pot of boiling water?? Why not the taser??? Why not just back up from her?? It’s like he immediately pulls his gun before even trying anything else!!! Officers need to be trained to pull the gun ONLY if the suspect has a gun!! And then… AND THENNNNN!!!!! His friggin attitude afterwards is soooooooo disgusting!!! I’m so glad he was indicted!!! Soooooo glad!!!'
I hate we had to have the discussion about such a horrible misuse of force, in which an innocent woman was killed, but we did it in an effort to prevent something like this from ever happening again.
Hi Attorney Bryan, thanks for watching. I hate Ernie and I even had to have this conversation. I appreciate you doing a video about the incident as well, considering the size of your YT audience. Your last point “My freedom doesn’t end when your fear begins”, is a very good way to put it.
@@HappyGouldianFinch-cl3swdoes not matter why did they entered her house in the first place? After their search were completed, that should have been their interaction with her. They should’ve left, instead they force their way into her home. Kick rocks, and eat Sh*t.
She offered on her own. The officer never wanted her to take care of it. No copyright. Copy and past anywhere you want It happened like this. 1. She was searching her ID card 2. The shooter gave a SILENT hand signal to his partner, intending to command him to check the stove. This hand signal is intended to be hidden from her sight, since the shooter saw her face was down, busying searching. 3. Unfortunately she saw it! And offerred to take care of it herself, and started walking. 4. The shooter agrees with it since she was quite friendly up to this point. Everything is on tape. Prejudice distorting people mind. More about the stove. The most natural way of taking care of a stove is to shut off the gas. That is ALL she should ever do. Full Stop. This is not the time to lift the pot and rinse its water at the sink, or boiling eggs for your dinner. The police is waiting for your ID card. Before the police came, what was she possibly be doing with the boiling water? She boiled water, and the rinse it to the sink? Serving what purpose? If she was cooking then why not leaving the pot on the stove and resume cooking afterwards. Not only she went out of her activity of searching ID card to go to the stove, she unneededly move the pot from the stove to the sink, which is nearer to him. This is suspicious level one Plus the i rebuke you element it is a red alert, and warrant drawing a gun.
Regardless, that is not a reason for deadly force she called the police because she needed help. I have family in the military and law-enforcement, and they think this is despicable. I pray that this Horn lip goes to jail for the rest of his life.
@@The10CodeMindset The only person with any basis to claim self defense in this situation was Sonya Massey. The deputy's threat to kill her and aiming his pistol at her was criminal and a massive civil rights violation in itself. She was being attacked in her own home by a man with a gun. She could have ducked behind the counter, grabbed a gun, and lawfully killed him in self defense. The fact that the deputy claimed self defense for a situation of his own making is reprehensible. It's really not any different than if he'd run out into traffic and shot the driver of an oncoming car because it was about to hit him.
I bet their gonna find out that officer was also drinking while on duty which makes you anxious. All the officers knew this I bet. He had been transferred to cover up his DUIs. 😢😢😢😢
I am tired of hearing about the pot. There was never any danger from that pot because when she took the pot off the stove she took it to the sink and poured the water out. The officer turned away as she was doing it, but you can hear the water in the sink right before she turned on the faucet. There was never a threat of boiling water as they BOTH saw her pour it out.
@@moniqueyoung9656 with all you said above.. would you care to explain what hits the entry way of the kitchen floor? when she does throw the pot (you’re claiming is empty)??? & if you do explain please make sure to add where the steam coming off the floor in that same area would be from??? no matter how much you continue to believe that, it doesn’t change the reality. it doesn’t change what his lawyer will without a doubt show in court. smh.. & if you honest to god believe boiling water is not a threat then i completely understand. that’s you. but what you don’t realize is none of that matters if he found it to be a threat to cause him bodily harm. which given the fact it’s proven to cause 2nd degree burns & very harmful if it does hit your face or neck area- your opinion or thought on whether it’s a threat or not is completely irrelevant. the real argument should be that, it almost seems they charged him with 1st degree as a loophole cause it won’t take the best lawyer to prove that not only did he make it clear he perceived her phrase as a threat but once she threw that pot, he now whether anyone agrees or not has a defense. that’s the real issue here!!!! & what people should be concerned with. watching multiple lawyers & even a assistant district prosecutor say that this man has a 50/50 chance of walking away unscathed by charges is the sickening part, is the problem.
@@triiileigh It doesn't matter if he misunderstood what clearly was not a threat. It has to be objectively reasonable, and no reasonable officer would believe she was a threat to kill or seriously injure either deputy. His threat to shoot her in the face, followed by aiming his pistol at her head, IS a clear threat giving her the right to defend herself against him, an armed attacker in her home.
@@triiileigh She poured the boiling water in the sink and turned the faucet on, so there may have been hot water in the pot, but she had NO POT IN HER HAND WHEN THEY TOLD HER TO DROP THE POT. Now, please miss me with the threat of how hot boiling water is because he came to her, she was on the floor afraid. If he was so terrified, he could have stayed his ass in the living room. Please miss me with this bullshit.
@@moniqueyoung9656honestly it doesn’t matter at this point. she shouldn’t of been killed, i’m just not willing to ignore reality & say it was never thrown. cause you can see the pot & all the water with steam land in the entry way. he STILL GOT NO JUSTIFICATION WITH THIS BEING SAID.
6:39 is a great point…the officers clearly didn’t wanna be there and they honestly did not address the issue. When an intruder is in a yard and sees Police, that intruder would of course LEAVE! They said they didn’t see anyone, okay, but why not CARE enough to focus on the purpose of the call, ask her if she can provide more details, sit around longer and canvas the area, ask if she has any idea who it could possible be, etc….SOMETHING1. Instead, they created an entire false narrative, and even after they murdered her in cold blood, they still kept telling tons and tons of lies not just at the scene, but even afterwards lied and said she committed suicide, as well as that the intruder murdered her. This is corruption with the officer, his partner, but also the Police Department as well. Why did the family find out from social media she was murdered by police? This entire situation is disgusting and I don’t know how many times we black folks have to keep saying this happens to us ALL THE TIME?
No copyright. Copy and paste it anywhere you want. It happened like this. 1. He said drop the fking pot 2. She said ok i am sorry, lay down the pot ON THE SINK COUNTER, and cowering down 3. He moved forward as he now lost the line of sight of her, so he could restore line of sight. 4. She stand up lethally fast, hands reaching to the pot full of hot water on the sink, and threw in his direction. 5. In this one or two seconds of throwing movement, he open fire, hitting her chest and brain. 6. The pot half successfully thrown, fly over and landed on the the black swivel chair. 7. Hot water content splash mostly on the chair, some on the walkway, almost reaching his feet. So amazed that people can fill in the blank with their own prejudice and imagination, without realizing that maybe it might not happen as they think. Note: it was SHE who offerred to take care of the pot. He never asked her to go. In fact, he didnt want her to go and resort to using silent hand signal to his partner, commanding him to go check it, but unfortunately she looked up and saw it. Everything is on tape, how come you guys failed to see is beyond my expectation. Gosh i have to copy this i dont want to type this again.
yep i just made a comment here as well, what they are putting out is so dangerous on so many levels.. how are they retired law enforcement or whatever they said & not realizing the magnitude of their words???? the world is going to be outraged when this man doesn’t get convicted of first degree murder:. all because literally every news outlet & all this “reaction” videos are spreading a false narrative. completely sickening.
He told her to go turn off the water. I don't get that. If you're worried about the water and you're a trained cop, why not turn it off yourself? Why are they in her house for a prowler call? He also was aggressive from the very beginning.
What a incompetent expert. He doesn't know why the woman reached up for the pot. She reached up to take the pot from the counter to place it on the floor, because the officer CONTINUED to order her to put the pot down even after it was already down on the counter, so she thought since the officer is still ordering her to put it down, she thought in her mind maybe he meant DOWN ON THE FLOOR, so she picked it up to place it on the floor, but when she picked it up HE STARTED FIRING AT HER. A miscommunication. This officer's confusing orders caused an already confused individual to not understand him.
I totally agree with you.. She didn’t throw the water at him, I think she was confused by him keep saying drop the f ing pot when the pot was on the edge of the sink. She reached up to get the pot and this bastard shot her
He is like little slight things given room for there to be a option of maybe it was unlawful on her part or it could be a little bit, threatening or confusing to the officer the way I hear it because there’s no way that you don’t know working that long and type of work you do that she pose no threat to this guy at this time, but that he was confusing her cause she had already put the pot down so why wouldn’t you know why she reached back up to get the pot obviously she’s confused she trying to do what he said maybe he wants it on the floor and she duck and put her hands up because she scared he’s already threatening her and coming in closer so I don’t know The way you know things are
Sir, there was a small blue bucket right at her feet where she would be in a tripping situation when trying to get up. She was murdered! My prayers for the family. Also, I wanted to thank you and Mr. Stevens for everything.
When she crouched down the first time and left the pot on the STOVE he CONTINUED to scream DROP THE POT that is why she reached back up and grabbed it. 🙄😒
