How do we keep kids from abusing this? I have seen many situations where kids work themselves up so they can "take a break" and avoid work/other activities. It's not always, but it happens.

I’m not sure, but I think if a kid is “abusing” a system like this then there’s still some sort of underlying problem as to why they’re doing that, which can be addressed in the same ways that they’re addressing conflicts
