The best way to de-google ur phone is to install a custom rom without gapps and use alternative apps for those google apps. It's a hectic process but very much doable. U lose some conveniences too. And I'm sure there r ways they can track/watch u via custom roms too since the core os is android. I'm not an expert though, correct me if I'm wrong.
lineage OS doesn't come with gapps right? but does it come with its own internet browser? I want to install a custom ROM on my phone for the first time ever and I would just like to know.
Last week I did factory data reset then i stoped every thing related to google completely..sadly my phone became crazy..the mobile data and bluetooth tethering and nearby share didn't work but the performance became much much better and every thing was smoother and the internet speed bacame fast and stable also the battery life became very good i don't know what google do with my phone.this video came at the perfect time thanks..sorry about my weak English
I'm using Lineage for microG on my OnePlus 8T for over a year now, and it has been rock solid! I can use every app I want to use and I even get SafetyNet
@@infotruther An API by Google for apps to check if the device has been tampered with. It can be triggered by having an unlocked bootloader, a custom ROM or root access etc.
So telagram is only end to end encrypted if you turn it on in the settings. this is something you need to say when talking about it as people just assume that it is on by default.
proton mail just upgraded all free customers to 15 GB if I'm not mistaken it was announced yesterday cuz they just updated their entire suite they also have a calendar
Even if you switch to an iPhone, they use Google as the default search engine for Siri and they use Gemini as the back end for part of its Apple intelligence
I don't know if its just me. I use the samsung apps over the google apps. The samsung apps are streamline with the oneUI design. I think the samsung apps are wonderfully designed and optimized.
@@davidbrown6878 I think OsmAnd is the worst, I'd choose Organic Maps if it weren't for Magic Earth. I think the routing and UX is just the best with Magic Earth.
I've used it some and been satisfied. It finds addresses better than OSMand, which I use for following pre-loaded routes on motorcycle trips. OSMand does a great job on that.
Thanks for your video! My two cents: Better alternative for Google Maps: Organic Maps. If you still have a Google Pixel phone or you are ready to purchase one, then the best OS alternative is GrapheneOS. For much security-minded people GrapheneOS is a good reason to purchase a Pixel phone. 😉 Great Music player: Metro.
the bad part is the baddies that are tracking us can turn those features right back on without your knowledge. the only way to get good but not perfect privacy is with a custom rom install.
Love your work, your style of presentation ,above All your love for us the people .Clearly it shows by the things you post for us the people .I appreciate you and thanks for all you do for us the people .Please keep up the good work.
@@Pianoplayer104 if I'm not mistaken ther are many custom roms and you can have them without gapps before you actually install the device, which limits Google from tracking you and you can get apps without the Google play store. Thus limiting their reach
hi I want to install custom ROM on my phone for the first time ever. Does lineage os come with its own internet browser? i don't want to download gapps
Telegram is NOT end to end encrypted by default. The only E2EE chats are secret chats, which have to have it enabled manually, and they don't sync to other devices.
I had all of my information on Google as well since ~ 2 Years ago, but now I'm running GrapheneOS (even more degoogled than this approach) and it works well for me. I only really have RU-vid as the only online Google service on my device + some other apps from Google like GBoard but without any access to the internet so they aren't able to phone home since Play Services are not present as well. It is certainly doable although you do looss some convenience
@@The_Linux_User it's hard to transfer accounts as I log in with Google on most pages and would take forever to move everything, I Also Have over 200GB on Google One
@@The_Linux_User Google has everything on One Place, so you would need to get everything from different places to get what Google has, and that's a waste of time for most people
One thing about Aurora store, it was handled by single developer and currently under stagnation. If you can't code, but still want to contribute, you can still help in documentation and other things as well.
19:35, seeing almost the full video and knowing its quite possible to live without google services, it fills you with...DETERMINATION :D Edit: wow, HowToMan gave me the heart in a heartbeat, heh lol, thanks btw
Keep in mind that tutanota email can expire under certain circumstances. I forgot what exactly the term is, and i really liked using tutanota until mine expired and I had to pay to continue using it. I was kind of mad, but thankfully the address was only used for scrolling twitter so I didn't lose anything important.
I switched as much as i could of services that Google provide, to Samsung alternatives, since i own a Samsung Tablet and Phone, like, i Switched from Google Assistant to Bixby, Google Lens to Bixby Vision, Google Chrome to Samsung Internet ,Gmail to Samsung E-Mail, and so on.
It's about privacy, not not using Google for anything. RU-vid can still be used privately without giving away personal data like location, name, contacts, etc.
"it's impossible to go completely Google-less unless switching to an iPhone" That's not true. You even mention running custom OSes at the end. Speaking of which, *LineageOS is not the best option for privacy.* In fact out of the major alternative Android OSes it's probably the worst for privacy. The best would be *GrapheneOS.* Second would be *DivestOS,* third would be *CalyxOS,* fourth and fifth would be the obscure IodéOS and /e/ (and potentially any other rather unknown/obscure OSes), and near the bottom of the pack would be LineageOS, with only like Paranoid Android below it. Not to say that LineageOS isn't private nor a good option, just that it's definitely far from the most private.
I want a google assistant replacement. Not because I dont want be tracked, google assistant just stopped working on external displays for flip phones. Main requirement is hands free voice activation.
Thanks alot for your videos brother really helped me a lot, to know my phone apps, settings, and much more I'm even in your jr at android intelligence thanks alot for all that you do Take care and have a wonderful New Year's Eve 👍👍💯💯💪💪
Excellent info but, this is not degoogle, you just removed the consent to some option. In some cases they do not change the monitoring that google has on you, such as maps for example, even without using it and even without active PGS they know your constant approximate position, in other ways, such as networks between devices, which even if disabled work the same. You should completely remove google to be sure... at least from that point of view because then... uff
No, it isn't impossible to go completely Google-less, and you don't need an iPhone. Also, not every Android can be de-Doogled, but the ones which can be, can be completely free of all Google services.
GrapheneOS is the best way to De-google android. If you dont have a Pixel, CalyxOS might be the next best, but at that point Google Play Services are on again
