Waarom zegt iedereen hier RIP Notre Dame. Don't lose faith people
I made a literal translation. It’s not 100% perfect, since some sentences are pretty much impossible to really translate. But here you go: Early in the morning Paris is awakened by a bell of the Notre Dame, The fisherman awakens and the baker leaves because of a bell of the Notre Dame, There a bells as loud as thunder, There are bells as soft as a flame, Every part of the day is decided by a ring of a bell, a bell of the Notre Dame, Listen! And, doesn’t that sound pretty? So many different sound and so much ambiance! And even though it looks that way, those bells don’t sing by itself! -Oh no? No, smart guy. Because there, high, high up in the tower, lives the mysterious bellringer! Who is that creature? -Who? What is he? -What? How did he get there? -How? Silence! Clopin will tell you the sad story of a man and a monster… Deep in the night, On a dark quay, close to the Notre Dame, -Keep the child quiet! -They can hear us! -Be quiet, little one! Scared gypsies were betrayed there at the Notre Dame, -Four florins for the boat trip to Paris! The fall for this foursome of gypsies Someone wanted that no one would escape, It was someone with claws as cold and as gray as a bell, -It’s judge Frollo! A bell of the Notre Dame, Judge Frollo wanted to release the city from evil, He banished the sins, but didn’t see his own hate, -Just bring this riffraff to the Palace of Justice! -Hey you! What do you have there!? -Stolen wares, of course. Take it from her! But then! -Let us in! Protect us! -A baby? *gasp* A monster! -Stop! The archbishop cried. -This is a devilish demon! I’m going to send it back to hell, where it belongs! -You kill the innocent, hate wins on the stairs of the Notre Dame, -I have the right to do so. Those who flee will be prosecuted. -Will the blood of a child stick to your hands later, on the stairs of the Notre Dame? -I’m not to blame! -Apparently you don’t have any conscience! That you took her life from her that way! For God’s sake, look up, Nothing escapes from the eye of the church, The all seeing eye of the Notre Dame, What was this strange feeling that overtook Frollo? It was fear, Fear for his immortal soul, -What should I do? -Take care of this child. Consider it to be yours. -What? Me, stuck with this creature? Although… If he can live in the church. -In the church? Where? -Wherever. Keep him hidden here where no human will ever see him, The bell tower perhaps… And who knows. Maybe he’ll come in handy one day... If you say that my soul will earn rest that way, Who knows… perhaps… And Frollo gave the child a horrid name, He thought the child to only be half a man, Quasimodo! So answer the riddle if you can, Sings a bell of the Notre Dame, Who is de monster and who is the man? Hear the bells, bells, bells, bells, Of the Notre Dame!
