This is a superb send up of Keeping Up Appearances, extremely funny! I have never heard of Frans Bauer and I don't understand what he is saying, but the rest is brilliant!
From what I've read, Frans Bauer is a Dutch singer. They made several Dutch references in the skit to connect with their Dutch audience. I had only assumed, and then read about it later.
@@Christopher-N As a Dutch I can confirm that Frans Bauer is indeed pretty famous in the Netherlands. Frans basically says that the Bucket family is "De grootste familie van Netherland" (The Greatest Family of the Netherlands), and he suggests to sing a song (which would be "Heb je even voor mij" (do you have some time for me?) which I personally hate, but which did become quite a hit song here). After the kitchen collapses because of Hyacint's singing he comments her voice and expresses that he's impressed by her voice being able to cause an effect like that. The way he does that though is done with a few puns that you'd only understand when you understand the Dutch language, but that's what it comes down to.
I haven't laughed this hard in a long time! The Dutch are no less funny than their British counterparts. And, thank you for the Vendex Headstart LX-CD computer in the early 90s. You are terrific folk, and maybe one day I'll be able to come for a visit.
@GrahamLondonUK In case you're still curious as to what he said, it boils down to him telling her that he's a huge fan of the show and he's delighted to be invited to their place. He then goes on to sing one of his most famous songs. In the pun that ends this parody he says that she really has a voice that's capable of tearing down the place (= dutch equivalent of "setting the roof on fire", "being the life of the party", ...).
@Gamezzlover Thanks for the translation, much appreciated. Regarding the pun at the end, Hyacinth once remarked, during a candlelight suppper, that when she sings to her guests, it often reduces them to tears!
Is This is a Dutch TV show? Is the man who is playing Hyancinth named (Carlo Boszhard) also playing Onslow. The woman who is playing Daisy is also playing Elisabeth(Irene Moors)??
When Frans beings to sing the Rainbow song, why can't I find those same words in the lyrics online? Can someone post, in Dutch, the lines that he is singing? Much appreciated!
