So much research and hard work to bring us a visual of everything you mention. Its wonderful, feels like im getting the whole picture . I can appreciate and understand how much effort that takes. One of a kind
The Euclid Square Mall also had a lot of competition from surrounding malls. The Great Lakes Mall in Mentor was slightly larger and offered more name brand stores (at the time), and the Richmond Town Square which drew away some tenets. I grew up going to the Great Lakes Mall, but since my Dad worked right next door to the ESM we would meet him there. It remember waiting for him in a recessed seating area, and I thought that was the coolest thing ever. I remember the fan-like sculpture vividly. I also remember going to the Kmart across the street to buy some pop. 🤣 We stopped going there in the 90’s when the Ashtabula Square Mall opened up, but the Euclid Square Mall was a decent mall. Thanks for sharing!
ESM was doomed once Kaufmanns left, and Dillards became an outlet store. Not to mention the other surrounding stores had already closed their doors, like Hometown Buffet (which I think moved to Richmond), the bank, and Toys R us. Also, the abandoned building across the street, which as been Twin Valu, Kmart, and most recently the Great Lakes Expo Center, was always open for awhile, then closed down for awhile. As always, love the vids, the best local northeast ohio exploration on YT. Keep exploring!!
I didnt make it there while it was in Euclid, but did go once when in Richmond. The one thing I thought was really odd about ESM, was that it had no food court. I also remember learning how to drive there, like so many others. Taking a risk with that nowadays, the parking lot is pretty rough. Speaking of Richmond, it wont be long before you guys will be at Richmond Town Square, as its a shell of what it once was.
boothmann yeah that parking lot is huge... It was originally on the list but at only about 35% vacant I decided to hold off for now. It's pretty rough though
I realize this is an odd request. But can you do a not dead mall. I work at Macy's and this is depressing me. They can't all be dead. My mall is on its way. Please.
Amazon did in fact want the space that Euclid Square occupied, just not the mall itself. It was demolished in late 2017 through early 2018. The Amazon fulfillment center there is under construction now.
I think the Amazon deal would be good one. More jobs created will strengthen the community. Incredibly done bro 👍. I have some questions concerning fair use. If you can help me out that would be awesome.
I agree, that area really needs it too. Hopefully something can be done with the old kmart across the street as well. Walmart/Target maybe? The city has over 50k people and the nearest Walmarts are Eastlake, Mayfield, and S.Euclid.
Live in Euclid seen this all happen my gosh old red lobster.. the banks drive ups... The grocery store.. the toy r us store ... Home town buffet... But Amazon is building here so we'll see
Things you do not see at a dead mall or alive one: bikes, motorcycles, no dogs, no baby carriages inside or out, teenagers. Geez security did a number on the kids today. Malls very sterile and canned music sometimes silly concept.
Malls or shopping centres in the United.Kingdom are doing great as a rule .Some to good for me .Can't be bothered to spend a half hour to find a parking space at the likes of the Metro Centre near Newcastle upon Tyne In the north east .
I can't believe this is happening to nearly most of US Malls, here in Russia (speaking of cities where I've been) you'll never see an empty mall, and our economic is not that stable either. I wonder if it would hit my country too in couple of years
Idk if it’s still there but they had a poppin hair store in the mall too . Lol I liked it & then this clothes store it was run by this little Vietnamese lady . It was nice clothing though
Don't bother going to Euclid square mall if you look online Anthony from aces adventures and Wally Wallyb26 made it into Euclid square Mall right after the church has got kicked out the mall closed down for good and Amazon bought it over. To do a review of the inside of the mall got to see the old abandoned Burger King and what was left of the old taco Bell but not really because the taco Bell sign that was it. You were right when you said Amazon is going to move into possibly moving to Euclid square Amazon is now Euclid square Mall. So sad that a retail giant like that had to take over a shopping mall but hey at least the Chinese aren't selling us products we are selling them right here in the good old USA although some of the products that go to Euclid square Amazon they have come on an airplane from China and has been kept out of Euclid square Amazon. So yes now you can say Euclid square Mall is now Euclid square Amazon center
How about Climate Change? Indoor malls were a benefit in the Seventies when winters were routinely below zero degrees F. and mounds of snow. Nowadays here in Ohio we don't seem to even have winters anymore. Who need or wants indoor malls?
You missed it ! Now remember it is coming from your mouth ! Either your brain is not connected to your mouth, which is obvious because opinions never accomplish anything, and it never adds to anything ! Why ? It's never based on truth !
drdecker1 The main purpose of these videos is to showcase the history and current states of buildings and companies that fascinate me. If you are watching these videos expecting me to not give my opinion / hate my opinion, this channel isn't for you. In the future I'll use the phrase "in my opinion" when not stating facts, if that makes it any better. Thank you for watching though
10:53 Were these "Community Corners" prevalent in malls in the northeast Ohio ares? Rolling Acres Mall in Akron had a "Community Room" whose storefront was prominently featured in a lot of the exploration videos made since that mall closed in 2008 and was left to rot...
Euclid Square's owners probably learned a lesson from what happened with Rolling Acres Mall and there probably won't be a way to get in like there was at Rolling Acres...
