5:32 The dead body at the Pike Amusement Park was the direct inspiration for Skeletor, believe it or not. Mark Taylor visited the place when he was like 9, was scared by the corpse dropping from the ceiling on a rope, and turned that experience into a children's toy.

Ironic that nobody wanted McCurdy while covered in wax because he looked unrealistic.

Apparently, one of the people who encountered the McCurdy corpse-on-a-rope in that funhouse was a guy named Mark Taylor, who would later grow up to become a concept artist for Mattel, where his artwork became the basis for the He-Man franchise. He based Skeletor off of his memories of it (it was actually attached to a pressure plate that would drop the thing down when stepped on).

5:55 it did happen! The original pirates of the Caribbean ride at disneyland used real skeleton’s because they were cheaper than imitations at the time. Now they’re all fake skeletons except for one skull and crossbones.

The first story I actually saw it on HBO (back when there was only 1 HBO). It was a random documentary and they just had one black and white picture of the dead guy. I only remembered the last part: 'used as a prop until it broke and bones were exposed'

Best ways to integrate videos like these is via following the subject or put it on for free time, try to make the world a lot bigger when teaching during each time

Weekend at Bernie's is one of those movies that is so cheesy it is good imo. It's a movie that you would be embarrassed to watch with someone else, but good to watch by yourself. Also funnily enough it was on AMC the day Mr. Terry uploaded this.

There's an episode of ghost adventures where they visit the house that was the mortuary where Elmer was mummified. The current owner has an odd obsession with him...like she said she is going to be buried adjacent to him when she passes. Even the guys on the show were suspecting her of doing some weird shit, like dark rituals and what not, to stir up ghosts

There is channel called voices of the past. And i don’t think you have reacted to them but it is a very intresting and awsome so any video by the would be a great watch

Class lecture/discussion could be the sociological phenomenon of using human corpses for entertainment and keeping law and order by way of making the corpse an example of the heavy hand of the law. Like, why have humans preeeeetty much throughout all continents and history of existence enjoyed watching torture, execution, and games where there must be death as a sign of defeat.

Mr. Terry, what do you know of medieval times? Like from Charlemagne to the Ottoman Empire using gunpowder? Honestly curious if you've got some insight or would react to some things around then. If you have already can you, or anyone for that matter tell me what to look up? It's my favorite period in history, behind the Roman rise, to eventual split. P.S. Love your videos man, keep them coming, and keep teaching, even if some of the kids were like me. I promise, that one kid who doesn't seem to listen or care probably loves you as a teacher, speaking from experience.
