I played customs with friends shortly after this update and tried dredge. No one knew who I was playing and then nightfall kicked in. Everyone started to freak 😂
What I love about the Dredge is that it is the literal manifestation of evil and the Entity. Like, there is no compromise on who it spares, because it serves one thing: to destroy.
According to wiki : "The Dredge is a manifestation of the dark thoughts of a once-vibrant community" so it's essentialy what they perceived to be "Druanee", the meaty mass is not the dredge it's what dredge picked up when Ottomarians were killed, dredge itself is that shadow thing that appears at the start of the match, and from where the "body" is coming out. "a formless mass squelched out of the muck and rose like a rearing horse to feed upon the writhing mass of butchered humanity." "Otto watched the creature as it slowly began to manifest into the very thing he had imagined-the very thing he had made them all imagine"
As a dredge main, I wanna point out that as nightfall comes to an end, the moaning, screams, and sobs actually get louder and clearer just before it ends, and then it just ends as it started like waking up from a nightmare
what's scariest about these sounds, is recently I learned the story of the dredge is heavily based on the Jonestown Massacre. there's a recording out there of the last moments of the people there, and it's genuinely haunting. I would not recommend looking it up. knowing it's real people dying is something that sticks with you. and I think it's interesting how BHVR was able to capture the horror of the event in a respectful manner with this chapter
Probably one of the things that really adds to the fear factor of the Dredge, it's backstory really happened. And it gets even worse when you see how Jonesetown was ran.
@@poissonsumac7922 only triggeres within 16m of a locker and some maps dont have lockers in a corner or near a gen when cowards just hide have fun finding them :D
God, the Dredge is one of the few killers that manage to be pure horror. From its mangled body,to the constant screams of the many victims who followed Stamper,to the pure black abyss that holds it all together, everything. I’d rather take my chances with Micheal Myers.
Theory about nightfall:So as we can see when nightfall starts all you just hear is the screaming of like kids and people that are crying however what i believe is basically when nightfall starts starts to see what these people have to go through they are all crying and screaming because they are stuck and trapped inside the dredges little portal thing when he moris the survivors when he sucks them into his little black portal thing i think thats whats happening we kinda get a glimpse of what the people that have been killed by the dredge are going through trapped in this nightmare Let me know what you think!
It sounds like a pretty good theory and how survivors get injured hooked or what not is basically the survivors malthinking cause they think they are gonna die therefor they are feeding into the dredges power Overall a really well designed killer with a very disturbing concept both appearance lore and power wise
Pretty much, I always took the voices as part of the Dredge. Since it's an amalgamation of all the people in the Fold, every man, woman and child now rots in eternal torment, having lived a life of repression and misery. The Dredge is basically an Egregore, it's Hebrew mytholagy and it's basically summed up as if enough people think a certain thing then that thing will create an autonomous psychic entity, that entity is comprised of those thoughts and feelings and can even influence others thoughts and behaviours. So really the Fold cult created the Dredge entity through a mixture of emotional repression and self inflicted mental tortue ie: no sleeping, never think anything negative, the paranoia of what happened to the people that suddenly dissapear, it was basically the pink elephant theory. But when the Fold snapped and every man, woman and child was killing each other or being killed that was the crecendo that gave the Dredge the power it needed to form an etheral form and create a physical body of their remains. So yeah, I believe their souls are basically trapped in eternal torment and darkness.
I remember this happening just as the round started in my first game against this unspeakable horror, all I could think was "what do I do? WHAT DO I DO!?"
What's more terrifying is the dredge probably uses the children's crying as a method to lure survivors rather than repel them. It's in human nature to want to comfort a baby crying, I'd imagine that's the way many of the dredge's other victims died as well.
We had a friendly killer that was new to the game and I said “watch us get a bullshit round next game because of this.” Yep got a dredge that started the game in nightfall and knew exactly what they were doing…
@max-UH-million technically demo was the first non human killer, but it's still very humanoid to the point it might as well be a human. Hope the next killer is also non-human bc the humanoid design is getting boring at this point
@@mosshivenetwork117 Would be right. Nontheless, It's eerie as shit thinking about the details of how they would "create" children screaming and implement it lol.
Imagine being a new player to this game and the first match you load in it's the dreadge and they brought field recorder (nightfall starts at the beginning and ending of the match)
Man… hearing the myths that these people are going to eternal torment… makes the entity of DBD more fair… he doesn’t torture the survivors… but here this guy just tortures everyday… and we have our survived get to take breaks after the match… And the dredge… nah suffer kids! It kinda pisses me off… tsk tsk
@@corvo286 the dredge is just the black fog, but the actual body parts that you see is an abomination of all the people from the Garden of Joy that it’s killed. When they died, they all became ‘one with the dredge’ so that’s what the groans/screams/chants are, they’re the voices of all the people killed by the dredge
