Grew up listening to dark 90's industrial and goth. Heard Cantara for the first time in a club called Inferno and fell in love with the band. Bought Spiritchaser and felt like it changed my world. Been a huge DCD fan and weekly listener ever since. I'm 49 now.
J’ai découvert DCD quand j’avais 17 ans, aujourd’hui j’en ai 40, et aucun groupe n’égalera jamais Dead Can Dance dans leur beauté artistique, Dead Can Dance c’est magique, à chaque morceau c’est un voyage magnifique 🤩 ✨🌈🌞
RU-vid recommended a live version of this to me a couple of days ago and I had to download the studio version immediately. Come payday I’m getting more of this amazing music. I’m so glad for the recommendation
I hope you were able to follow up on your plan, and have since discovered many, many more glorious moments of musical magic by these most wondrous of artists.
I can't believe how transcendent, spiritual their music is. I've been listening to dark wave and ethereal stuff for couple of years, but I only listened the dark, melancholic ones such as Dark Sanctuary, Sopor Aeternus. But this band is just so mystical. Her voice and singing sounds purely out of the physical plane and so I literally had an immense awe as if it scares my ego of how ethereal the feeling was. Crazy.
Anabasis I suppose it's from the Greek word "Ανάβαση" which comes from "ἀναβαίνω" and it means "Going Up". I suppose because the correct would be "AnaVasis" and that is because the letter "Β" in Greek alphabet sounds like "V" and the English "B" doesn't exist in one letter in Greek. Two letters should collide to make the proper sound and those are "Μ"+"Π" both of them make the sound of "B".
Also the name of the escape of the general Xenophon and his army of 10 000 Greek mercenaries from the pursuing Persian army after the battle of Cunaxa in 401 BC
eRazOr3 you are absolutely right about the translation of the word ανάβαση or in ancient greek ανάβασις...and of course of the pronunciation...we pronounce the latin b like v.
This older stuff from DCD is still classic but it seems to me that #LisaGerrard has long and far outgrown DCD and is at the peak of her performance skills with many collaborative releases that far and away transcend the earlier works of #DeadCanDance. All hail Ms Gerrard; yet another humble Australian who has stormed the music world forging new frontiers in contemporary music. Just brilliant. Old songs like Opium and Children of the Sun with Pieter Bourke are montone boring repetitious and uninspired.
Dead can not dance but they will dance according to Isaiah 26:19: "Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully, You residents in the dust!"
@@freefastalk3009Are you stupid? The return of the 10,000s is in Ksenefone's history book. It is the Kurds, not the Persians. Why is your historical awareness so stupid?
It's the scales they use. They are VERY VERY old. Like probably as old as the very first advanced civilization. Egypt, most likely. That culture is far older than modern archeology gives it credit for.
Try also Clannad ! Really ! ;o) Start with "Rí na Cruinne", "Caisleán Óir" and "Strange Land" ... and feel another magical world enfold and take you in...
Yes defo. Lisa my fave vocalist all time .. and further I've not been disappointed in anything Irfan has done either, or Hope Sandoval solo up thru Mazzy Star and other collaborations. Speaking of Clannad .. Harry's Game is also fab tune
I had a friend.... smudger .... he and his brother introduced me to aion and that album that has the "zooloo" warrior noises on the intro of a song the 1st I think... I have loved the profound beauty of the songs I can connect with and I always come back to these guys each time I am ready... always blows my mind... also historically flatmates that have come back and find me lying on my back on the sofa listening to this at album at volume ... had to comment after that it was the most beautiful music multiple times.. I notice . anyway my comment is ... my assembly of what dead can dance means is that they take archaic sounds from musical instruments that are mostly consigned to history and as they are the most fantastically realised genius level musical engineers they create musical magic that could be in a film featuring angels.... to say hea look at this dead guys can dance....
Been a fan for decades. "Serpent's egg" holding a special place in my heart. I Had though I'd heard all their recordings, but I'm glad to have found one I missed. "Anabasis" is a new favorite.
Se alguém falou que o espírito não deve se sobrepor ao corpo, isto é uma grande mentira. Quando o espírito se sobrepõe ao corpo, a vida flui de forma magnificamente inimaginável.
Ancient,Timeless,Spiritual , life-changing , Divine , mystical , magical , OUT OF THIS WORLD ! It awakens the soul and makes you wanna be WILD AND FREE !!! Gratitude !!!!! 🙏🙏💜
hummmm, quel pied avec cette voix de lisa gerrard. c'est un voyage trans qui vous donne envie de voler au dessus des nuages, merci dead can dance, peace and love.
I read somewhere that their song "The Lotus Eaters" was supposed to be on the follow-up of Spiritchaser, but that album was never released. So I wonder if they already had Anastasis in mind at that time, because the song also features the bouzouki a lot and the overall sound would fit perfectly on Anastasis.
