This song was amazing live.. I saw them in Seattle, I have their concert recording of this song, only all of the lyrics are sung in English.. One of the purest songs written, gives me chills.
We are starlight, made from the dust of dead stars. Lingering between darkness and darkness We hang. The crucified ones We hang searching for light in others some times the light is blazing Such times are rare, most times the world is shattered by this mirror such are the distances bewteen us; except a note, a midnight, soft, full moon note. One beautiful song brings us home.
The stars you see in the night sky Have been dead for centuries And sunlight creates the illusion Of life for all these years Now i no longer trust these eyes of mine The heart must speak to me In tongues of forgotten voices In cosmic energy So that i can see The heavens are merely illusions When you build them high in the sky And hell is the final solution For man and his seed design And the chance of life And the more that i see The more life means to me
How weirdly the black birds on the rooftop walk compared to the white ones . . . did anyone else notice? Bleak footage goes with the mood of the music, somehow. Good job!
Farewell Starman~ David Jones Bowie dug DCD I'd bet He left us today with all his energy, this chameleon of versatility & illusive truth, poet performer, elusive charm, labyrinth king starman beyond ziggy, man from mars ~ recognition, may all our love be with you!
Yeah, I was looking at their website and they have the best of the North American tour cd where this song is also there. I have downloaded a few song from those cd's but I want the actual cd. I saw them in New York during that tour--it was amazing!! Although I really enjoyed their 'Spirit Chaser' tour in 1996--wow!!
This is my favourite video for Crescent, hope it will stay on youtube forever - I added it to my playlist some two years ago, makes winters easier to cope with :)
This song can only be found on the CD copies from their live concerts. I have the live concert from Seattle where I saw them in 2005 this song is on it but Brendan changes the lyrics a bit on the version I have. This song is weepingly beautiful I can see why you would want it. There are also other rare songs on the concert CD's like Lisa Gerrard singing this haunting lullaby to the audience as the last song of the concert.
I love birds, and I think your video is great, it goes so well with the music too. I also really like the way you've made the cars go backwards during the traffic clip, adds an interesting dimension to the film.
It wasn't released on an album. They only performed it live, on their 2005 reunion tour. There are lots of recordings of the tour that will have it. Also, Brendan Perry (who was one half of Dead Can Dance) will be releasing an album later this year, called Ark, which will include this song
In the chime of silence of your love Can't feel in my love And i need love in my life Can't feel it in you And i need love in my, i see life Can't feel it in you
Dead Can Dance makes sadness beautiful and and alive, if that is at all possible. Check out The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove. Appreciated by old school goths, world music lovers, and exotic strippers everywhere. Lol!!!
My brother has been playing the Yangqin for over 30 years. If this is the same instrument used on their many tours, then it's definitely not a Yangqin. It looks like either a European or middle eastern version. All are called hammer dulcimers though, and yes from the same family.
This is the original from 'selections from europe' (limited edition) by DCD: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YidtAo6mRuM.html The best version imo. I never heard this one, also its not on 'Ark' by Brendon Perry (still another version on 'Ark'). Sounds very similar to the original.
I'm pretty sure you're alone in that one.....But if they did, how would we call the music??? Dead-can-Metal??? (somewhere between doom-metal and black-metal???) LOL
