I have always loved DCD, everything they have done is amazing. And will be an inspiration for generations to come. Kiko is such a haunting melody it carries me away to an ancient desert in an ancient landscape. so power
The beat of this song is based on the Greek “zeimbekiko” a very popular music genre in Greece with “bouzouki” as the lead organ. Here is played at a slower tempo, hence the name of the song zeimbe - kiko -.
bouzouki is the Irish Mandolin. it's just like the little baby verson with a full elongated neck. Glad you understand and appreciate it's Beauty fine Lass!
"Kiko is almost like mother courage. It's to invoke power within people, the subtle and profound gentle power that can be provoked within music to empower people and give them their strength back." -Lisa Gerrard
Excuse me please... someone knows what this style is called ... I am old and I stopped listening to Dead can Dance when they played something like Gothic Rock ... A homonic album that was called exactly Dead can Dance ... This is something like "new age" or "ethnic music" or "gypsy folklore"?
@@odahon Thanks for your answer, I was quick to believe that it was gypsy folklore or something like that ... I only met the first Dead Can Dance LP, with great Gothic influence ... This is very different. Congratulations and thank you ...
@@antoniolopez6798 first dcd album was mostly post punk, they were using guitars. Dcd after this album went into world music, new age, even middle ages music
@@deadreckoner5276 Lisa Gerrard is singing in her own language. This process is called "glossolalia" (Greek word actually) :) She always sings from her soul.
@@KujieSama It is a spiritual language which connects to the immediate, having no grounds in human convention. It is not at all dissimilar to "speaking in tongues" to connect with Our Higher Self/God. As such it is beyond earthy languages and is [I feel] very nearly telepathic.
Magnificence personified.... This sound can not be exhausted.. It will never get old ... Come to my funeral approx 2050 and enjoy this tune one more time.
For me it's the best song from DCD. What a goosepumps. My dream, someday, will be to stay at Cliffs of Moher, in a cloud weather and listenig this song. How I desire it!!!!
Women just give birth and glow magick and are cast off when someone better comes along.... our works published our mental and emotional works, our art our lives.... someone else getting credit and us sitting with our masks and hearts and mirrors shattered like pools on the ground. Thanks
This is probably my favourite DCD track of all time. From the rhythm to all the elements, instruments. The break after the extended bridge at 5:24 always gets me to tears when the strings come in. It's like sinking into a warm bath that is most likely akin to getting back into the womb where all is right on an existential level. Followed by a magnificent solo that soothes the worst traumas.
This 9/8 rhythm and especially the instrumental part after 5.24 is very similar in sound and melody to greek dance/rhythm of zeibekiko! (the title perhaps comes from that...). A masterpiece! (like many others form DCD...)
You could spend a lifetime and maybe still not hear everything they've done there's such a volume of musical works. I've followed them since 88-89 and still manage to find new works and new versions of old songs on youtube. They could literally have there own xm channel.
Beautiful melody, have seen them live twice, once in Thessaloniki and once in Herodium Theatre in Athens. Truly magical. Bouzouki here used is similar to many greek traditional music pieces.
Greek 'aromas' are everywhere in this song! The 9/8 Zeimbekiko rhythm, the bouzouki instrument! Been Greek and a big fun on Dead Can Dance, I really enjoy this!
sweet Turkish traditional music vibes, they have this very relaxed, slow burn rhythm. So thankful for Xavier, that song made me learn to play instruments, and this journey into the world of sounds and melodies through the years still feels like thousands of orgasms
*** SUPER FANTASTICO!!! *** 53 years young here. Friend of mine introduced me to them in the 80's & have ♡♡♡ them ever since till this day & the day & FORVER !

Chaves: Ele nunca será músico hihihi 😂 Dona florinda: É mesmo? Pois veja esse composição de meu tesouro, e vc chaves mendigo oq sabe fazer além de passar fome?
Superlative!! I can't think to the various TV program like for example "......'s got talent" or in Italy the Sanremo festival. All TV program where it's necessary to see ridiculus people - for their dress code usefull only to move the attention from the low music quality- that are trying to sing.
