That's dedication ...I've seen them 5 or 6 times since 89 N I've met Lisa a couple of times N she always comes across gracious N humble...i remember offering her a lift to her Hotel in London she politely refused 😉
I saw them by chance in Greece (in 2012 or 2013) in an old amphiteatre on a hill above Athens and i was so lucky because i was there for an orthodox baptism of the son of a friend, and I didn't knew they were playing the day after, by chance at the airport, i met a swedish girl who told me she was there for a Dead Can Dance show! The surprise was so huge! i camed from France so the travel was shorter than yours! But "bravo" for your dedication to make a so long travel.... respect!
@@ioannis7775 Thanks. I was supposed to see them in April 2020, postponed, then April 2021, postponed, then in Oct 2021, the rest of the North American tour was canceled. … I turned 50 this year on 4/20!!! Portugal and seeing Dead Can Dance was my present to me. My husband and I had a great time!!! I also saw John Cleese the following night at the same place. That was fun!!! Dead Can Dance is finally returning and I’m going to see them in NYC, in April 2023 😊🥂
Right on! Same story, had tickets for NYC in 2020, and 2021 and was so looking forward as I've never seen them. Saw they were touring Europe and knew I'd regret it forever if I never made a show so hopped a flight to Luxembourg and met my daughter who is studying abroad for the show. So very worth it! Single regret, neither Rakim or Xavier was on the playlist however I look at it as an excuse to see them again.
Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry are masterful musicians that have been making masterpieces for 40 years. Dead Can Dance is one of the most unheralded under rated music collectives of all time. Those of us that know are blessed and those that got to see them perform live even more blessed.
I don't think they are underrated at all: when you play such kind of music, it is obvious that your audience won't be so wide. This doesn't mean they are not well known or less considered by both listeners and critics worldwide
maybe we diverge about what we mean by "underrated band": i simply define "underrated" a band whose talent is not fully recognised by both critics and audience. It's neither a matter of categorizing nor a question of listening on the radio because their songs are too complex for the radio itself. Hearing The Host of Seraphim on air worldwide just like Rihanna would be enough for you to not consider DCD underrated? Ok, so maybe under this perspective you're right, but it's not my idea of "underrated" @@stacer1962
I was there, and Lisa´s voice seemed to me in better shape than 3 years ago. As for Brendan, that guy seems not no get old, in terms of performance. Each time I see them, i fear it will be the last one. One day, it will. Until then....let me see, hear, and stay captive by this amazing band. Thanks DCD, you make our lives a little bearable.
I was born in the sixties and, at one point, found DCD. I want to thank you for helping me in my life by giving me some peace of mind while listening to your wonderful music. You are the music, obviously, as in music you learn to discover yourself. God is surely a big part of music, and maybe even nothing else matters.
God I love those live versions so much. I wasn't expecting to cry, but Brendan's voice is always so powerful to me. Amnesia caused tears of pure joy. My God, thank you for this band to exist in my lifetime. 💚💙
I got to see them in the mid 80's performing live in Berlin at the Quartier Latin. Definitely one of the best concerts of my life. They came on about 30-40 minutes late, then only chanting with drones for the first whole set. The audience was furious! My boyfriend was pretty mad at me for bringing him, then the 2nd set they blew everyone to pieces. Goosebumps and tears. Healing.
I am flabbergasted. their voices are so magical. I always assume their studio albums are mere trickery but then they go and reproduce their efforts live, so flawlessly and artfully.
It’s nice to see her smile. We saw them in the late 90’s . They were always magnificently talented. But now seem to having fun. I think I’ll get hubby some tickets for Christmas!
I was 18 when i first discovered Dead Can Dance. It took a bad night of drinking but they have become a staple in my life... Even 30 years later i have to listen to them at least once a week if not more.
Much older but still fabulous takes me back to my youth and seeing them still performing makes me feel Iam still in them great days hope their still around for a few more years to come love their last work feeling so good when they release new stuff so great to hear great music
I took my grandmother to see them at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in the early 2000's. She had a blast, loved every minute of it. She passed away in 2020, so I won't be able to take her this time around.
Wow! Sweet mystical memories of day's long past... I lost all my cd's in a move year's, decade's ago - I will be buying their collection again. Absolute gift's and divinely inspired.
I HAVENT even heard or seen THIS yet. I want to but DONT want to spoil it for when I DO SEE them LIVE ! Finally & for the 1st time ever in Seattle, WA on March 26, 2023 .....& it will be such a Wonderful & Amazing birthday gift to myself (d.o.b. March 22nd, 1969)
I’m not sure one can adequately prepare for the emotional impact of live performance with her. To my surprise, I wept on and off seeing her perform with her long time partner Brendan backing her up for that solo tour. She is using the solfeggios and most ancient soul shaking tones and content in a variety of languages in contrast with her stately, regal performance style. I had listened to her recordings since the 80s and the live performance is something quite different. See them while you can!
I just grabbed tickets to see them in Chicago in 2023 after having seats for shows that were postponed / canceled due to the Pandemic. I can't wait to see them.
@@physicsguybrian yes and thank you but the beauty of that concert was just indescribable. It was just her and Hans Zimmer and a couple other musicians and lots of gently flowing curtains. Semi-transparent long curtains. And an excellent sound quality. Variety Playhouse in Atlanta.
I saw her I'm Atlanta in 2007 or 2008 (can't quite remember the year). It was absolutely beautiful. My chair was literally in the first row right at her feet.
Saw Dead can Dance in Seattle and Salt lake City and will see them again in SLC in April 2023. They are AMAZING. Been a fan for 30 years and thank God for the 4AD label!!!!
@@lcd284 okay I will rephrase it just for you: "thank the master of all creation for the 4AD label that recognized amazing talent a long time ago before you were born. " There you go! 😉✌️
This musik & band reminds me always, always, always, really always of the healing presence of God... Thank you, love, peace & tears of joy from Germany!
For some reason they both look... deeply moved, kinda. I wish I had seen them, I wish I had been there. You guys are still amazing and otherworldly, hope you can do it again
MUCHO QUE NO LOS ESCUCHABA;NI MIRABA: IMAGINENSE;QUE TENGO CDS Y DVS DE CONCIERTOS jejej Se me salió el viejazo Son extraordinarios..
Have been a huge fan since the early 80s and saw them once in Manchester in 1990: I was on a massive high for weeks afterwards! They still sound fabulous. And such a great selection of songs for this gig: obviously a really special evening!
What a fool am I? What words could be said? I've searched the highest mountain, the babbling brook, the endless plain for what is righteous. The mountains had snakes, the brook was poisoned and the endless plain was lonely. Along the way I listened to Dead Can Dance, and I found what is righteous.
Thank you for posting this. At this point, I am not sure if my daughter will ever be able to see them, or if I will ever be able to see them again. It’s great to have a record of this. Cheers.
Their music expresses what cannot be said and what is impossible to be silent about. My soul music for more than 30 years. I saw them live for the fourth time in Berlin in April Thanks for sharing the full concert in Lisboa, it was even better than in Berlin ❤
I was too young to see them in Brazil in 1996, the only time they were here. Also, I didn't know them before the age of internet. I hope to see here, cause they're my favore band. They blow my mind each time a hear or see them
Traveled from the Netherlands to join this ‘last’ show of the European tour. Lisa and Brendan and the other band members seemed to be truly enjoying it. This show even exceeded the show in Utrecht in April 22 I think. It was beautiful, magical and the audience was just great. An unforgettable night, thank you 🙏🏼❤️
Thanks for posting this. They're always amazing. There are only 2 live albums on this earth that I actually like. One from Neil Young, the other Toward the Within.
