You can really tell that these spin-off shows with less episodes, higher budgets are working… Jeffery Dean Morgan carries every scene. I feel like Hershel’s pent up aggression toward Maggie over Negan encapsulates the viewer’s feelings also. I think we are all ready for her to grow and move on from that traumatic experience. Great show though. Kept me hooked from start to finish unlike the last few seasons of the main series. Excited to see where it all goes from here. Give me Rickey Dickey Doo Da Grimes
@@Cam_DePasquali I almost mentioned this in my initial comment. The time jumps really affect how we perceive the characters. Especially for Maggie after how much time has passed. I feel like the creators want us to forget about the time jump. Every show has its drawbacks though. Especially a universe over a decade old
It’s almost like having several different groups, storylines, and splitting screen time up into single digit minutes for main characters was hurting the main show. Lol. I’m so glad we get one main story with a couple small twists and turns and only a handful of characters.
I dont think negan actually killed Ginny's dad, he must have only said that because no matter what he said Ginny would still want to stay with him in the city which is dangerous. So he lied so Ginny would hate him and accept leaving the city
He killed it. So many parrallel with maggie for not doing that. Forgiveness Killing another loved one Ginny negan / hershel maggie relationship complicated
So if she wants Negan to lead them, how can she continue to blackmail him to do her bidding. Negan is effective and charismatic. He could overthrow her and destroy the group like he did with the whisperers
we haven't really seen much of the dama, but I see her as a manipulative person, A very good manipulative person and it makes it creepy and a lot more threatening. I think the dama thinks he can break negan
Yeah, maybe the Burazi, whatever they call themselves, will always be loyal to her. She just wants Negan to bring all of Manhattan together to not let the marshals or anyone else take their shit, but if she needs a back up plan against Negan, she can send those helmets people after Maggie. Which still doesn’t make much sense since Negan’s group would be so much bigger, and how the hell Maggie keeps getting raided after all this time? After all she’s been through, she should be a legendary survivor. I think the show poorly executed that kidnapping thing, it was all too easy, I don’t know… The show left some loose ends, but still good. I hope they do at least 8 episodes for now on, it would be better to explain and desenvolve things
Bro rewatching Glenn’s death after people wanting Negan and Maggie to get together is fk up, Glenn is legit taunted till death infront of Maggie and his head smash to pieces over and over again. in no way in hell would she ever get with this man, please walking dead I beg I’m right and that they don’t do this
The most I would accept is them somehow becoming ''friends'' like getting over themselves and accepting the past for what it was, moving on without that burden and maybe even living in a community together once again, having a decent enough relationship. Romantically involved though? No way, I would throw my laptop out the window in anger and never watch a minute of this universe again.
Don't worry that won't ever happen, I know sometimes TWD makes bafflings decisions but this is one of those things thats as implausible as Rick killing Carl or Daryl killing Carol, it just has 0 basis in reality and what these characters are
Good to hear your thoughts! Thank you for the upload and starting the convo. I think that The Dama was dropping hints that she brainwashed Hershel similar to how Neegan reshaped the Croat. Hershel even said he felt safer there which she repeated "...once he felt safe with me" . I'm betting Hershel willingly gave up his toe because he probably thinks the Dama is the first person to see him for him rather than being the son of the widow and all that implies. He will prolly work undercover for her in season 2, but Ginny notices, and it will be a whole b plot or sumthin. It also seems plausible they have more people on the inside but who knows at this point ha. At first I thought the dama could be the crm in, but now I'm wondering whether New Babylon is the DC connection to the civic republic. Thanks again!
I totally read the big Hershel reveal as saying that he somehow was in on the plot to trick Maggie into handing over Negan. Those drawings didn't look like they'd been shoved into a bag for however long he'd been away; they looked like he'd worked on them at home and hidden them under his mattress. That might explain why he didn't seem to want Maggie to see his artwork. Then again, if he wanted to hand over Negan so his mom would stop obsessing, why was he still such a little turd in the car afterwards? 😂 The whole thing just seems like such a stretch: the Dama just happens to hook up with the Croat, who just happens to be an ex-Savior and just happens to know of the story of Negan & The Widow - which happened AFTER the Croat was exiled - and then they all just happen to know that Maggie & crew had moved into the area (for some reason, despite the logistics of moving a whole community that far away from their original location AND that far away from the other communities they were working with), and then Negan just happened to be there too, and then, and then, and then... ugh. Like why couldn't this stuff have all happened in Virginia, or at least somewhere closer than NYC? It would have at least made all of them running into each other make more sense. But then again, Daryl's in France, so... clearly there's no room for logic here. (Loving the Last of Us vibes in the newest Daryl trailer... *tired sigh*) I am also very much on the "If Negan & Maggie get together I am erasing this franchise from my memory" train. I'm HOPING that won't be the case because Annie & Joshua are still out there somewhere... plus SURELY they know that the shippers for that "couple" are few & far between in this fandom and in general that pairing would cause mass outrage, right? ...... right?
10000% agree. I can’t watch if Negan and Maggie actually become a romantic pairing. Same as with Daryl and Carol . It feels like lazy writing to just put two people who’ve been around along time together as a couple. Rather than find new characters with chemistry and build from there.
My initial thought and theory was that she was a scouter for potential CRM base locations and probably heard how Negan was capable of leading effectively through the croat. I think she saw Negan as a capable leader for non CRM people to clear all of New York for the CRM arrival which causes no casualties for the CRM forces in the process. But chances are I might be way off based on how the finale went cause my thoughts before were waaay different.😂😂
There needs to be something like this and connect all the shows together. I’m gonna be so incredibly angry/sad/disappointed if all these shows end up being disjointed, one-off stories.
I don't think she gave hershel those drawings, i think he drew them himself and I think hershel would happily go back to her because he said he felt safe there. I think that's what she means shen she days she can always go back for more
Its surprising that you didn't pick up on the fact that Negan was 99% sure lying to Ginny about killing her dad. He just said something so she wouldn't want to tag along with him. I thought that was probably the most obvious thing in this episode so far.
One way I could see Maggie & Negan's arcs ending would be a mercy killing of some sort - Maybe Negan risks his life to save Maggie and/or Hershel, but gets bitten (or mortally wounded in some other way) in the process. They have one final conversation, giving both characters closure, and then Maggie puts Negan down out of mercy. I think that would wrap up both of their arcs pretty well.
Dead city improved their relationship. Maggie os starting to understand negan. We saw that she is clearly conflicted all the show. I think at the end she will forgive negan
Negan and Maggie ending up together would be the perfect twist for this spinoff, it would make a lot of fans angry, like you lol and I would love that haha
enemies to best friends who would kill and die for each other is my favorite trope of all fucking time it’s top tier we do not want enemies to lovers for these two
i do not think that the romance between Maggie and Negan will ever happen, *because* Lauren and Jeffrey are involved with the writing of the story. They'd never allow that... at least i hope that
Lauren has said absolutely NOT to a romance and it’s kind of annoying that people keep bringing it up. It’s not happening so people should accept that and move on so we can enjoy the dynamic they DO have.
I think Lauren knows it won’t be good for her character. It would diminish Maggie’s values and would make her seem weak, stupid and irrational. All the love she had for Glenn to end up with his killer. On the other hand, I see Jeff is open to the idea cause it’s a win-win for his character. Negan would have the best of both worlds. It’s like being rewarded for his act. We just need to wait and see! 😊
So I guess Commonwealth doesn't exist anymore to protect the Bricks? I don't get why Maggie or Negan never went there in the first place. Guess 50 thousand people doesn't exist anymore. Lol how is the Doma going to go back and Kidnap Hershel when our group technically has more man power? That doesn't make sense lol oh well either way I am HYPED to see Villain Negan make a bit of a return. I hope he plays along and revels in his role like he did with the Whisperers. Also the Croat has been a highlight for me too. So glad they finally didn't kill off a fun and awesome villain. Croat is literally a Negan fanboy just like us.
I took the toe as no matter what she can always go back even if Maggie knows. But the drawing to me felt like She had manipulated Herschel to like her. Herschel first thing he says when out is I feel safer in there and is aggressive to Maggie.
Prediction : Dead city s2 will bring alot of characters and spinoffs together, against the Croat/Doma faction. Faction war if you will. Maybe it will be a separate fully pledged series. Like "war of manhattan" or "TWD: the last reunion" which will give a TON of characters closures they need.
I think the big conflict of season 2 is going to be negan being forced to be the leader of these New York groups. while Maggie goes back to New York in order to "rescue" negan because she understands that he's reformed through her talks with Hershel. However when she next sees Negan, he'll be " old season 7" Negan because he's putting on the facade, and he can't tell her because he's trying to protect Hershel. So she'll see that Negan never changed and will want to kill him again. As well as overall New York community politics with Doma, the Croat, and the Marshalls. Maybe we'll see ginny see evil Negan...maybe Hershel.
Also if we look back to the whisperer war, after Negan becomes "the alpha" and Daryl is captured, Negan steps in shotguns the two whisperers and unties Daryl. Later, they have a chat and Negan says something along the lines of him liking the attention, feeling useful, the people looking up to him; like how he felt with the saviors. So in S2 he might have that pull as well.
My biggest question going into season 2 is if they're gonna keep the 6 episode formula or if they're gonna take the same path as the main show and go longer. Personally, I liked the short season formula because as you mentioned in your video for episode 1, it drastically improves the pacing compared to how the main show was. So even if they do make the season longer, i hope its no more then maybe 8 or 9 episodes.
Imagine if we got this: At the end of the Daryl show, he heads back to America after doing his quest in France or whatever. The Ones who live ends with Rick and Michonne reuniting and making their way back home. Then at the end of Dead City season 2, Maggie needs help and that help comes in the form of Daryl, Rick, and Michonne. These four team up to take down the Croat and New York and free Negan. Then later we get a new walking dead show. A sequel show where we get the old group back together, Rick leading the new commonwealth/Alexandria and together the group tries to fix the world. They might deal with the CRM. Pamela could make a return. Negan and Rick would work together. Morgan would return. Maybe there could a whisperers return and Rick would deal with them. Later on in this show, all of the old characters, Rick, Michonne, Daryl, Negan, Carol, Gabriel, Eugene, Aaron, Eziekiel, Mercer, Maggie, and so on. They would die at some point. Show would end with old Judith instead of old Carl and show how much the world has changed.
Maggie will definitely be back. No way is she just going to except what she did to Herschel. Negan well, act as a information gatherer. Letting new hilltop understand what they’re up against. Even if he was rescued. What’s to stop them from coming again. This time with worst consequences. What if there’s a Simon in his group. What then? As far as pearly, he’s totally screwed. The best he could is just totally sneak away into the night. What a bully does. Once they realize they can get something out of you, they keep coming back for more. Which is why you have to stand up them. 8:34 we don’t know what she knows, and what’s been reported to her. So it’s safe to assume that she probably knows more about new hilltop then the audience. Remember how long the saviors had been hanging around. And how they surprise Carol with everything that they know instantly. 8:59 not really, but I hear you.
I just wanna toss this out, there was a single moment us and negan should have questioned why maggie really needed him. The croat calls maggie "the widow" which is what the saviors call her during the war. The croat wasnt there for that so how does he know any of that story if all he did was rob her and steal her son.
My dream would be to write out Maggie, who, imo, is one of the most annoying characters in twd - Michonne being a close runner-up. They should have kept believable survivors like Merle Dixon in TWD universe.
Can we please stop this non sense it is not a “fan favorite” idea that Negan and Maggie get together. The core base does not want to see them together. A couple of weirdos on Twitter maybe do but it’s not a fan favorite idea by any stretch. And that last scene between Negan and Darlene (I know that’s not her name but that’s what I’m calling her from Ozark) just felt so anticlimactic
We know, negan is being forced to become a general for all the settlements in Manhattan under the burazi’s rule yet new Babylon in the brakes, might come together specifically to stop the burazi Maggie being a supporter specifically to keep her son safe, Armstrong will likely be forced to become a general in a guide for new Babylon, so they could take over Manhattan and expand their territory. They might try going for the rest of the boroughs in the city. If there’s something to gain yet something tells me and negan might try helping Maggie and Armstrong defeat them in mind, or make a deal with new Babylon in exchange to let him walk, and he allows take to the city. They can have it in exchange he walks away with the slate clean he walks away. Maggie gets to walkway Armstrong. His fan will be secured that kind of thing yet sometimes things are not always as they go.
I think the finale did what a short first season should do: set up the conflicts/storylines for the rest of the story(at at least the near future). I hope they keep the quality consistent. Shorter seasons with a larger budget and less filler. The spin off shows are off to a good start with Dead City.
Ranking all Six Episodes of The Walking Dead: Dead City 1. Everybody Wins a Prize (1x04) 2. Who’s There? (1x02) 3. Old Acquaintances (1x01) 4. Doma Smo (1x06) 5. Stories We Tell Ourselves (1x05) 6. People Are a Resource (1x03)
There is 0% chance for Negan and Maggie to get together that is the most silly theory ive ever heard and it makes 0 sense and goes against literally everything about both characters, I think you have to not be paying attention or know any context to think this is possible, like someone who watched one trailer for this show and nothing else from TWD and made an assumption because male and female on screen hurrdurr
Why is no one talking about how problematic the Maggie and Negan fight was? For me it was so random. Negan knew Maggie was lying, and maybe he figured out it was a trap, but I don't think he was about to run or attack her. They just exchange this look like "I know that you know" and then Maggie tries to stab him. Negan then runs and tries to escape, Maggie runs after him and they're on that platform. Negan is telling her to stop, he doesn't have a weapon and he's not trying to fight her, he's trying to calm her down, and then Maggie fucking stabs him in the chest! (which somehow moves to his shoulder which somehow disappears completely, he doesn't get an medical attention and he's fine 🤷♂️). I don't get it. Was she trying to kill him? Disable him? Get some revenge after all these years? Why would she when she needs Negan alive to get her son back? I'm really sick of this now, because we've had years of Negan's redemption arc after he spent many years behind bars, after Maggie spared his life so he could suffer, after he's proved how much he's changed and has saved multiple people's lives and killed Alpha to stop the Whisperer war, after Maggie and Negan spent a season having to work together, then trusting eachother, then learning to accept eachother and let their animosity towards eachother go, to Negan having a family, to him nearly sacrificing his life to save everyone, to them having to team up again to save Hershel, and them spending this season really connecting and seeing eachother differently, NOW she tries to kill him???? I'm fucking done with Maggie. Everything she said was bullshit and it doesn't matter what Negan says or does, she will never let it go. It just felt like a very contrived fight scene for the sake of action and having them finally fight hand to hand. Can anyone explain it to me, because to me it makes no sense?!
It was a good series, better than the other spinoffs, including 2/3 or more of Fear and at least 1/3 of the og series, but not approaching a majority of the original or the best of Fear. I'm eager to see where season 2 goes even if parts of the 1st were underbaked. Hopefully DD stuns as it's looking amazing.
Can anyone tell me why Maggie & Megan suddenly start fighting after he asks if Jinny said anything. They both stop, think and then begin fighting. Negan IS a bad guy. Has everyone forgotten that he's a sadistic maniac, just because he grows a beard and joins their gang?
When these shows are done, they had better get together the characters for at least the last episode. I'm talking Rick, Michonne, Daryl, Carol, Morgan, Judith, Negan, Maggie, Dwight, and Sherry.
I really did not like the Doma or the weird lady that was the leader of the New Babylon Marshals, Hell I barely even liked the Croat and just tolerate him mostly. The villains and leaders of this show were horrible and just kinda sucked. Whether it was due to writing or the actors I dont really know.
Okay wait I took it as Hershel is basically evil, which is really cool. I mean the child of GLENN being evil would be a perfect unexpected ending to season 1. Like when I took it that way my heart was racing, my mouth dropped, I was talking to everyone about GLENN’s child being evil. So from what your saying, Dead City seems a bit boring and now I’m not bitting at the bit for season 2. But, hopefully it changes to Hershel being evil. As for them being each other’s romantic interest, It can make sense late later on, but profit wise it shouldn’t. Keep in mind this is still a business and businesses follow the money so chances are low. However I sill want Maggie to have another flame. After all it’s been many years since her beloved Glenn passed. She can’t be alone forever. Everyone has 2 greatest loves so who is Maggie’s second?
I hope this doesn’t become a long running series and just sticks to a two season mini series like The End Of The Fkn World. Personally I think they could do this with the future of twd: 2023 -Daryl season 1 2024 -dead city season 2 -Daryl season 2 -the ones who live season 1 And then 2025 becomes the official final year for twd where we tie in everything into one final grand mini series, maybe 10 to 16 episodes, so all the main series characters, fear and other spin-offs get a proper final ending. The franchise needs to end already. It should have a proper beginning middle and end like breaking bad for example. It’s already been milked dry, so I REALLY hope they don’t try dragging the franchise for an entire decade
The Doma has spies in the Bricks and other Settlements so she can grab Herschel anytime & with the drawings Maggie was looking at Herschel seems to maybe have Stockholm Syndrome ??? So getting him back will happen if it needs to ?
I wasn't crazy about Dead City. Too dark, too boring, too much repeat of killing the dead.... I want to see real acting, the loyalty of the group that made the Walking Dead the most popular show in the world. We all fell in love with what felt real, not what makes no sense... Using Hershal this way was disappointing. We watched him grow up, Maggie is our hero now she's got a teen that rather than stand beside the group to make their world better, has becomes the dark spoiled kid. I miss Rick, Mishone, Maggie, Carole, Daryl, Sasha, Rosita , the priest, Eugene... to name a few because they grew in to a bad ass loyal group with integrity.. All this fighting between Maggie and Negan is boring as hell. When the show started with yet another "Burned us down and took our grain along with my son" from Maggie I literally couldn't watch it as I pressed through the first episodes. The new young girl.. Too much, too boring. What a disappointment that Negan crawled off from his family as Marshal's hunted him and left his wife and child. There is so much story to be told in the extension of those great parts and yet, we end up in "Saw City" I felt like I was watching one of those poor story line serial killer flicks. Or a remake of "Silence of the Lambs" type feel. Yuck. Truthfully, Maggie has become a whiner.. Just kill him rather than keep condemning him. I get it, he should have died, but keeping him alive ruined the show.. The elements that made the Walking Dead the best show ever, faded when Negan lived, the Alfa had some great powerful group.. yeah right.. was too off.. We want to believe even when we know it's fiction, so when the you go to far.. you can't believe. At least Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has a plot and is not filmed in the dark.
Dead City was good, definitely the second best show in the series, even if it did include my favorite and most hated characters and yes Negan is my favorite! Daryl Dixon I found dragged on a bit, episodes were too long at nearly 60 minutes each and not enough was happening to justify it. Also hard to get into it when like a quarter of it is in subtitles and the plot was stupid, how tf did he survive on a life raft from Maine to France lol he would have ran out of water like on the show Vikings, plus it barely focused on the French bio labs plus Daryl im not a huge fan of either
This series really surprised me with how muchit got me invested, after the later seasons of the walking dead I had lost a lot of faith. But they really need to drop this 'goofy' writting, example: the sewer scene where 4 people who have survived this world for like a decade or more, SOMEHOW get attacked by sneaky zombies all at the same time, struggling quite a bit to get free. I was completely taken out of this moment and couldn't help but to think those 4 characters to be the biggest goofballs ever seen. long story short: Do not sit on dead bodies in a world infested with a zombie virus, that's just pretty goddamn stupid.
I agree with you. I was expecting something spectacular in the box and Why would she think that he would want to protect The bitch that just turned him in.
Yo Thrifty and other fans, how do y’all feel about the conclusion being that Maggie’s quest for revenge ultimately results in Negan (to protect himself) having to come full circle to the line up and kill Maggie. Potentially in front of people, possibly Herschel?
I feel the same way about the end scene. So many reasons it is weak, which is unfortunate given that nothing else in the show felt that way (ie it made sense that she didn’t go to The Commonwealth for help because she was just reading Negan in). - Croat loves Negan, why can’t he just kill the Doma and use the Croat to leave NY - Alternatively why wouldn’t Negan just use the other tribes to kill her if he’s worried about making it out - Exactly what you said about Hershel being with Maggie who will protect him
imo 9 had the same idea of the older seasons in the sense of making walkers scary again and the story & villain was pretty good I do think 10 and 11 fell flat though. Also the first half was cool seeing Rick try to advance the world.
maybe the threat is a little of both, maybe the croat took his toe and broke him ie brainwash/manchurian candidate/sleeper cell/etc. maybe they want negan to think if he doesnt comply they will go kill herschel, but maybe the actual threat is that they already own him and dont have to kill him but merely activate him.almost like they got negan in exchange for a seed that they planted in maggies community waiting to use it like a failsafe device if negan doesnt toe lol the line so to speak ;)
The part I disliked is how Negan was guilted into being Hershel’s guardian angel. It is stupid reasoning Negan killed a lot of fathers. Why is the kill of Glenn any special
I was really scared of this show, afraid they fuck it up the 11 season finale, their last conversation. And with all the retards wanting they to be in a relationship made me sick. But I’m glad Lauren and Jeff are executive producers of this show, so they will never do this or be okay with this. But it is TWD at the end of the day and there’s some retard shit everywhere (killing Carl). But I liked this show a lot, better than I expected. They could went to the Statue of Liberty, though… I hope in season 2 they explore this. I get the impression there’s people living there, in the opening you can see some “curtains” in the statue’s crown. But I really hope all of this connects well and the end with the Daryl and Rick show and the whole CRM shit that’s been split through all the shows. The 11 season finale was great, but still missing that closure feeling. I hope this spin off shows isn’t just to show what’s going on here and there, it has to be a connection. And I hope Maggie doesn’t end up killing Negan, I just hope they never see each other again, that’s the way she’ll move on.
so all the bull they be doing the last 4-5 years with writting neegan and magie getting together is where you hop off the universe been terrible for years
Back in the saviour days, after the line up, negan was gonna take maggie as another wife.father gab stopped that.thats as close to negan and maggie being together, as i ever want to see.stick to being a team, nothing else.
This spinoff was super bad on many levels: - Not a single interesting new character - Unbalanced strength, sometimes a kid almost die for 5 seconds alone and another time she travels half the country to an island, Maggie take out the king walker like a piece of cake with 1 hand, Negan stabbed and not even a scratch - No conclusion to any story lines\characters! the show ended as it started on nothing and thin air - At this point Maggie becoming annoying and this whole Maggie & Negan situation is cringe as hell
IF MAGGIE GETS WITH THAT RAPIST THAT KILLED THE LOVE OF OUR LIFE IM FUCKING DONE. I JUST WONT ACCEPT THAT IT WILL BE A HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD SITUATION WHERE I JUST REFUSE TO ACCEPT THAT AS CANNON!
@@vendi_605 lol he was a rapist. He literally forced women to marry them or he would kill there husbands which news flash is not consent. And then he openly admitted to sleeping with them which isn’t consent when they have to do it or there loved ones die. And then the fucker started sexualising them infront of Carl a literal minor and he used his wives as a reward to his saviour so the could “have Time with them” which we all know means have sex with them. None of that was consensual and was forced upon those women. There lives where so horrible that one of the wives asked ugene to make her a suicide pill. So yes he is a rapist.
