When I’m at the Siesta Motel, pay extra attention at the passenger seat in the abandoned BMW when I walk by it. (It’s the very last time you see it.) Tell me what you see. Number three, the “figure” at the end had me rattled enough to not want to investigate it further. From my eyes it looked like a transparent man floating about a foot off the concrete on the balcony above the office. Call me crazy, that’s what I saw. Of course there’s all kinds of different things that could explain what I saw but truthfully, I was scared. @@ExcaliberPvP It doesn't mean anything. Most of the time lamps are on timers in businesses. But, it's just creepy knowing people were murdered and that lamp still comes on night after night.
The Siesta Motel was the creepiest motel I’ve ever seen. The abandoned cars, the lights still being on, the crime scene tape, and the alarm going off in one of the rooms, combined to make this scary to watch. My heart kept dropping every time I saw an outline of something that looked like it could be a person. I’ve never gotten that way over an urbex video. Great video!
It takes a lot to rattle me and I was thoroughly creeped out. The abandoned cars out front and that light burning in the office really added to the heavy atmosphere. Dan was right too when he said there's something very wrong with the property. Bad juju that was present long before the murders, imo.
I work about a mile down the road from the Siesta Motel. It had a for sale sign up but now it says sold. It’s in an industrial area so they may be getting ready to demolish it and build something else.
Used to bring a gf of mine here for a few hours here and there. Very creepy tho and found some guy outside my door listening one time. This area was a dump glad i left.
The cars may have been part of the "motel inventory " many of the motels in my area have vehicles in the parking lot that never move because they are owned by the motel. They are purposely put there to make it look like there are people staying there. The purpose for this is to make it look like people are there so that if the motel is functioning it would attract people to stop (because no one wants to stop and stay at an empty motel) or when the motel is closed to make it look like people are there doing matinence ect. There is one motel near me that has been closed since the early 90s but is still maintained and it has 9 cars in the parking lot that are part of the motel and the owners would occassionally move to different spots to make it look like the motel is still functioning. Its strange yet neat because none of the cars are newer than the late 80s and are in nearly pristine condition because they never leave the motel.
And, sometimes there are people living there. There is this hotel in the Flint area, the Township made it close, because it was in utter disrepair. I had to go in, and the new owner, is letting a handful of people live there as they fix it up. This was almost a year ago. There are still a few of them there, they have cleaned up the halls and the rooms they live in. ANd they keep the lot clean, they still havent reopened yet. A lot of motels get strange owners sometimes.
@@Martyisruling I also think a lot of these places are bought by the Mob-they need a way to launder money. Reporting income from a closed motel is one way to do it.
Funny bit is in the police video, there are no cars in the lot. It doesnt look like theres squatters or anything illicit goin on there. The vehicles just look "dumped " there. It could be previous tenents cars seized in the murder investigation. We may never know.
I can't believe this place frightened Dan that much. I've seen this dude walk around Leakin Park at 2o'clock in the morning by himself for Cripe's sake!
St Louis is often listed in the world's 100 most homicidal cities from what I have read in a few reports. I live in Yonkers and barely see any illegal activity here despite being just outside NYC, yet people I know that lives in St. Louis all have crazy stories about the criminal activities they have seen there.
The dead flowers in the lobby/office just broke my heart because you know Sumei probably bought them when they were blooming and lovingly placed them in the vase...her heart full of life.
The second motel seemed almost post-apocalyptic because it wasn’t abandoned long enough to be decrepit and falling apart but the lifelessness is really creepy, especially with the abandoned cars and the lights still on, kinda like everyone just up and left without warning
They kinda did, Their murderer never turned the lights off after he did the act and there was no guests at the time, The last non-police, non-criminal trespassers there were the victims and their murderer.
DAN. You MUST look this place up. I was at my Grandparents over the Holidays and they live in Frackville, PA. There is a motel right when you get to town off the highway called Granny's Motel. It has a terrifying 20ft giant granny statue with this creepy man child next to her holding a doll with a missing head right outside the establishment. There was a meth lab found there years back. It's still in operation and I'm sure this place will garner hilarious moments being a 1 star hotel. PLEASE DAN.
One of the weirdest parts about the Green Ghost part is how lit up the whole thing is, like there are people still staying there. Is that just to try and deter looters? Very, very odd.
@ChasingTheBumblebee , I think they are keeping the power on to scare away anyone that may want to damage the property, but especially to deter scrappers. When there's still power on in the buildings, scrappers can't steal the copper wire, because they'll get shocked or electrocuted. Its a good idea for vacant properties, unless there are leaks or fire hazards.
I find it alarming that some of the mattresses/furniture in this abandoned place look cleaner than 90% of the furniture in the hotels in the “Another Dirty Room” series 😂
@@LindsAyWithAttitude This video was only uploaded a year and a couple months after the murders, and likely filmed even earlier than that. A standard curly CFL bulb can last up to 10,000 hours (and significantly longer for LED bulbs) so it's entirely plausible that the bulb was still well within its projected lifespan, if not nearing the end of it, the night Dan was filming. Granted, we can't actually _prove_ what kind of bulb is being used since it's hidden behind the lampshade, I'm just saying it's far from implausible.

If that lamp is truly set on a timer like others have said could you imagine walking around the building knowing it's abandoned and seeing a light suddenly turn on? I'd run like hell.
Something about that place is just....wrong. The parked cars, the fact that the lights are still on.. The alarm noise coming from one of the rooms. Dan needed to gtfo of there.

We stayed at a Holidome in Gatlinburg once. It was great, but the pool made it so humid inside. Your windows stayed fogged up and no amount of hairspray kept yout hair up...this was the 80's :)
Same here. I had completely forgotten about the high humidity. It gave the Holidome a terrarium effect due to the high ceilings of the establishment. Yes, this recollection was also from the 80s.
Climate control was the nightmare aspect of operation. Worked on a couple Holidomes performing J-Loads, re-sizing HVAC units, installing power vents with actuated louvers, huge dehumidifiers...original design was horrible
@@SuperNolaguy I can imagine. I bet they ended up having mold problems with all that moisture. I was nice in the winter to feel that tropical-like warmth, but nothing would dry on it's own ie bathing suits, towels etc
The car next to the office and the van are in every news report I've been able to find on the murders. One of those has to belong to the deceased owners.

I hear you, but I gotta say... a spirit of adventure often times accepts certain risks, it's like riding a motorcycle, it's not safe but the thrill and interest is worth it (in your mind). I've gone many places alone where I could've easily fallen through the floors or gotten stuck in an abandoned mine and died, but the excitement and thrill is what's alluring. Being somewhere alone, too... it's pretty magical, knowing you're the only one seeing something (or possibly).

Imo, this is your most underrated video. The Siesta Motel’s ominous vibes are right up there with the meat factory and the Pine Bluff motel. All those lights left on, as though waiting to greet the next guests. The cars in the parking lot. The constant whirr of insects. That incessant, persistent, unidentified beeping, beckoning an owner who would never return to disarm it. Chills.
The last abandoned hotel was so sketchy. With all those cars there with no license plates. Gosh, I hope you you have protect with you, Dan. Great video!
What's so freaky is that there are so many places you could've been watched from without you knowing, I be the sense of someone watching you was intense, all those windows the darkness and you lit up by the outside lights, someone was most likely stood back from a window watching your every move....very creepy!
That BMW looked like someone was sitting in it and it totally looked like someone was standing up by that second floor room. I had to rewatch this a few times and it was just as creepy each time. Damn you are brave Dan!!!
Dan, back in 2003 I recall staying at a Holidome on my move from Oregon to Illinois. This appears to be the exact one that I stayed in. Thank you SO much for documenting this!

all i can see is the reflection of one of the parking lot lights, with it being so dark i don't think you would be able to see into the room. i think all of that is a reflection of what is near the light

It's not unusual for people to abandon cars in hotel parking lots; especially cheaper ones like that where they can't affoard 24/7 security. If no one is around to run the hotel there's no one around to have the cars towed away.
Once we stayed at a basic motel in a resort area (the Smokies) and there were only 3 or 4 cars in the parking lot that evening. A nice Asian lady checked us in and the room was clean, well-kept, and had everything we needed for our overnight stay. It wasn't until we were returning from dinner later that we noted that every car had flat tires, including an older model Mercedes! We quickly surmised that we were her only guests. I believe that this is done to give the perception of occupancy, both to potential guests and perhaps would-be robbers. In any case, we enjoyed our stay and told her so the next morning. She seemed relieved. From that point forward I have always double-checked the cars in the parking lots of rural hotels. 😉

I live in Missouri and I've stayed at those Holiday Inn hollidomes back in the 70's and 80's when I was a kid with the swim team it so much fun. It's so sad to see them like that now, but it's been a long time.
Gritted my teeth and on the edge of my seat all through the Siesta hotel...I was waiting for the swamp monster to spring forth out of that pool. Balls of steel, Dan!
Dan, this was a terrific film! I could really FEEL the tension you were experiencing in both places, but most especially at the Siesta. Toward the very end, you cried out "Oh my God!" but what did you see? Was there any "wet" evidence still remaining in that lobby? Whatever it was, this was one very creepy video, and I LOVED EVERY SECOND of it!

The Holidome--the definition of 80s kid road trip excess with their game room and seemingly-always-cloudy pools. Even in this state it brings back a ton of memories! Nostalgia with a side of dread--that's what keeps me coming back to your content.

That Van in the parking lot 😩 around 25:25 when you were trying to stay hidden and turned the camera between the 2 motel sections there was a figure that looked as if someone was standing there 😳 and for sure noticed the figure at the end on the balcony, looks like a man standing facing the wall and moving a little bit !!! There is definitely a bad negative vibe the Siesta Motel having to due with what happened there. The owners spirits are probably keeping watch over the place. The BMW is a bit creepy as well. The first part what an amazing place, the 2nd part I truly got the chills and scared for you. I do believe, btw, that elevators have a ratchet system that prevents them from dropping more than a few feet if the cables should break. You still wouldn't want to get stuck in a broken elevator though.
What me, as a german, would be interrested: Why the lights there everywhere are still on? I could not imagine that anyone is paying the energy bill for this object. In germany the electricity company would be turn off the energy when noone pays the bill or an house is empty.

Fun fact: my mom's ex boyfriend was a handyman at the Siesta back in 2012. The owners would make him run down to the USA on the otherside of I-20 to pretend to get a room so they could match their rates lol Its crazy seeing Irondale get some urban exploration recognition like this and Ace Adventures' expo of Century Plaza. Why was there SO much lights on in the second place, like I get a few to keep people away but there was a good few and even some indoors like the lamp in the small office, someone has to pay for the lighting
It's a good way to keep looters away as well, not just to make them think someone might be there, but because if they were to try and steal copper wires while the electricity was on theyd get electrocuted.
@@slugmilk4063 the property might be tied up in legal stuff. Who owns it now? After someone dies if it isn't clear who owns it it can take years to clear up. If it's willed to multiple family members.... same thing. An associate of mine is in a legal back and forth with his 4 siblings over their parents home/land. It's been about 2 years now.

I loved Holidomes!! We had one in the next town over and it was great! I grew up 100 miles south of St.louis. Last time I stayed in one was 2008. North of Atlanta. It's probably not operating anymore but dang they had everything! Huge hot tub, Indoor/Outdoor pool where you just swam under a little divider, bar and grill etc. It's sad to see them in such disrepair. Great times I had in many of them!!
The Holidome in Alpena, Michigan was our favorite hotel vacation spot in the 90's, it had a pool, putting course, arcade, etc. It's now a Ramada by Wyndham and the pool still looks exactly the same
I got the chills long before you got to that last point. Those people may have been murdered, but they never left that place. I can tell ya, too, it's not just them. It felt like you were surrounded. I just kept quietly saying to myself, "Dan, please, just get out of there." All I wanted was to see you in the relative safety of your hotel room. I'm from Severna Park, but live up here in Vermont. These places don't much bother me. That place did! The Alabama part didn't help, either--deep woods Alabama. Yikes! Forget all of that; that motel was f'd up!!! Luv you, Dan.
