Thats why I feel so bad of selling my Dreamcast with the VGA cord for only $150 bucks to get a Memory card and more games for PS2. That was such a dumb decision when I was in highschool. At least Redream Emulator is almost perfect with an Xbox One Controller

Yes. Most titles up until 2002 were rendered at 512 x 448. As the games progressively had a considerable increase in the number of polygons because of the immense polygon processing capacity that the PS2 had, aliasing became a frequent problem. Later, developers developed techniques to avoid edge exposure as in God of War. In addition, most of the games came to be rendered at 640 x 448. Even so, many titles from the end of the PS2 era are full of aliasing as FF12 and Shadow of the Colossus. Both have frames with very high frequencies due to the large amount of details and polygons, which allowed aliasing due to the low rendering resolution.

I suggest you to try the scart on a CRT TV. It's the perfect ballance between sharpness and natural feeling. I have both and games really look better in Scart/CRT than VGA/Modern TV.

The Dreamcast version is definitely smoother. I was excited to play the PS2 version but I was disappointed. It was so pixilated. Did not like it and the few extra bits of content were so lack luster!

+Norman Roscher well the comparison is more there just so people can see differences. I'm not really trying to say which is best. I know I leave a recommendation on which to play, but they are all fun and great versions of the original. I do agree about the anti aliasing. Big problem.

dennis van dijk Yes, but the MIPS architecture of the PS2 was an efficient 64-bit RISC architecture, compared to the Celeron's 32-bit CISC. It provided more power per clock rate. It may have been a bit slower, but it should have been comparable to a 600 MHz Celeron. The Nintendo Game Cube's 485 MHz PowerPC G3 based CPU definitely was significantly more powerful than the X-Box's 733 MHz Celeron. Clock rate is not everything. A 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo war more powerful than a 3.4 GHz Pentium D as well.

@@yanceyboyz Na I wouldn't say the Gamecube is 'way more powerful' than the Dreamcast or PS2, even the original Xbox wasn't that powerful compared to what the spec sheets says, in reality original Xbox was still the most powerful of that generation, but not by a big margin, nor was the Gamecube.

@@1010thechamp the GameCube was more powerful than the original Xbox in quite a few scenarios, the ATi and power pc chip inside was phenomenal and the 360 ended up using ATI and power pc because of this fact. The GameCube was hugely more powerful than the PS2, go look at how much they had to cut out of resident evil 4 on PS2, 50% or trees and foliage removed, moving interactive water removed from basement, 70% of textures removed. Lighting removed as well. When you look at that game, the GameCube is a generational leap above PS2. Xbox had higher clock speeds on an older style chip, the ATi and power pc set up in the GameCube was much more modern and became the norm for the next gen after it. The games on xb and GC trade blows, the realtime rendering on twin snakes is incredible and much higher Res than the ps games, it also looks better than the xb ports of mgs games. Then again doom 3 looked brilliant on the xb. The PS2 is very far behind these two machines, it was a 480i machine with the occasional 480p game. It had terrible signal output and the lack of AA makes it look incredibly dated.

@@pftmclub The Dreamcast was released in 1998 and the PS2 in 2000 and Xbox in 2001. So it only makes sense that its alot more powerful. Back in the day 1 year was a huge difference in technology advancements.

I agree. The xbox looks more realistic and graphics are better. The dreamcasts vga cable just makes everything more crisp and not blurry. The dreamcast still can do what the xbox can graphically.

The resolution of the PS2 is 480i.....the cable isn't going to change that. The Dreamcast rendered at 480p, the vga just allowed you to see it.

Wrong! This video is about comparing graphics and nothing else. The Xbox version has objectively speaking better graphics than the other 2 platforms. It isn't even a fair comparison seeing how the Xbox version is remake running on a newer and better engine. A case can be made for DC vs PS2 though, While overall the DC version looks better I don't like the oversaturated colours, but that on the other hand is subjective. It should also be pointed out that the PS2 version used in this video seem to be the original release of the game, however it was re-released as Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore which had improved graphics. I haven't been able to find any good side by side footage of that version compared though so I don't if it is better or worse than the DC version.

The Dreamcast version is the only one with 480p VGA output, giving it the cleanest picture from the lot. DOA2 was originally released for the NAOMI arcade system, which is basically a beefed-up Dreamcast. It was then released for the Dreamcast, and was then released for the PS2 after that.

The best video output method isn't what this video is about, it is a straight out graphical comparison between Dreamcast PS2 and Xbox. And what's that nonsense about the Dreamcast is the only one with 480p? The Xbox version of the game is 480p as well. The only thing is that you need component cables to get progressive scan on Xbox

DOA 1 and 2 on xbox runs on 3's engine. Because this released after DOA 3, the remakes use the current cannon information, which these changes carry throught the series. The PS2 version is a direct port named "DOA 2 Ultimate."

I personally prefer DOA5 LR in that concept. Sure the game was pretty much remastered for newer gen but everything about it was better than the original... well except for the fake "free" price tag and the 800 DLC 😅

Animated Freak Impressive it is. Compare Shenmue 2 on Xbox and Dreamcast. I can't believe PS2 missed out on good graphics. It could have been as powerful as mid-range gaming PCs at the time of its release, at least. Just like how 7th gen is compared to gaming PCs at the time of their release.

If I say the Dreamcast was the best console, I would have say it myself. I am trying to brought up if the PS2 had the same amount of GPU as the Dreamcast, PS2 games would look different in a good way. Not just the PS2, other consoles like the Xbox and Gamecube on multiplats, as well. PS2 was a powerhouse, but limited on it's GPU. With the same amount of GPU as the Dreamcast, it could have been much more than that. I'm sorry, but that is how I feel.

+Razor Edge I just checked on my own Xbox and you are correct, this does not run at 720p for me. pointlessfailure might be thinking of Soul Calibur II. I got briefly excited there for a moment, thinking DOA Ultimate would run at 720p!

Yeah the Xbox still love Tengu season changes amazing effects. I took one best feature from the Xbox version that was Hitomi voice announcer over to my Dreamcast version. You can fully play as Lauren, Helena's mother, Zack's Rabbit on the DC mod & play on unassailable stages like the Desert fully. I really like the original arcade Naomi graphics just perfer the anime type graphics like Tekken 3 before it went "real".
