as a huge fan of deadrising it saddens me to see that the fire reflection of the character in the mirror the removal of lines made by characters it seem like gaming is going backwards instead of forwards, I really hope updates will be available when release
The acting isn’t that bad it’s honestly pretty good the only problem with it is the lack of reverb. The inclusion of reverb in the original helped a lot with the voice acting to give the impression that the characters are actually in the mall but cause of the lack of it in the remaster it gives the impression they’re talking in a recording booth as opposed to a mall.
most character are fine but frank and brad are objectively not that great sounds like fan fictions man so sad they didnt even try to contact tj for frank when dr4 did terrible they shud notice tj performance is next to none. also he was on the voice strike recently so that was the reason why because he wanted more pay for one of their most popular character in zombie games pay the man.
I'm sorry to say that the voices for Frank, Brad, and Jessie just don't sound right. Frank: Sounds a lot older than what he's supposed to be, kind of like a grandpa in a way, and in a way I got vibes of a Jersey accent. Brad: He just sounds robbed of emotion, when he's yelling for everyone to run you don't feel the urgency in his voice, it feels like he's just reading from a script. Jessie: Her voice doesn't match her appearance. she sounds like an older teen, and doesn't feel professional. Yet I also get a hint of slyness, almost like she's giddy in a way of keeping the truth from Frank.
I love that you can not only have sets of clothing you find but the fact that you can get special costumes (especially ones referencing other CAPCOM games) is awesome. I actually loved in Dead Rising 4 where the special Capcom costumes were scattered in Willamette & once you find them & wear them, you’ll get them in clothing Collection.
Think of it as content creator mode. To prevent potential issues with copyright, the music can be changed in the settings to be more streamer friendly. So we can alternate between using soundtrack that includes songs like Justified or use the content creation mode where it will get rid of actual songs and use appropriate game soundtrack instead.
It's not on this particular playthrough but yesterday I heard it on another channels playthrough. The have added a streamer mode that disables bgm to avoid copyright problems for streamers.
kinda sad that they got rid of the dead rising logo in the intro sequence. very minor and doesn’t really effect the game at all but i always thought that it was a nice touch.
and so, I cooled my head, in principle it doesn't look so bad, censorship still bothers, but in the end Cliff is still a veteran, it's just not said directly, and it's basically easy to think of it, Larry somehow doesn't care, the awl on the soap, the only thing that bothers is the atmosphere, for if the original was bright, then for some reason the remaster is darker and colder, well, the complexity has become easier, and for this it's kind of a shame, for me the complexity of dead rising is almost one of the main chips, and yes, Capcom, your audience is not stupid, she knows where to go, do not smear the path with paint, even I, being a person with not the best eyesight, figured out the map
TJ Rotolo wasn’t approached by Capcom due to the ongoing voice actor strike. TJ, who’s a union Voice Actor, basically was replaced with a non-union voice actor. Basically, everyone who was in the original cast was mostly replaced due to this (Larry’s voice actor was replaced for two reasons: Michael Yama, the original voice actor for the character, died in 2020 and, due to their aim for “political correctness”, Capcom retconned the character including his voice to match his new appearance in which the original was identified as a “racial Asian stereotype”). TJ replied to a DM that asked him and he verified that it was due to the ongoing strike. Capcom has since been going non-Union to avoid paying voice actors more for their performances, though they’ve let TJ onboard for Resident Evil 2 remake several years ago, this was probably an exception. Capcom has since been trying to avoid using Union voice actors for the reason of keeping costs down for other projects, especially games such as Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, which is a smaller release with a smaller team and budget, compared to teams working on Resident Evil.
I just don't like this voice acting lol for all I know they've been deliberately not showing us too much of this stuff right now so we wouldn't be disuaded by it. At least with mods all the necessary restorations will be possible and much more. Imagine a Frank OTR or DR4 mod, even something random like Phoenix Wright with Jessica as Mia and Larry Butz as the camera guy in the food court, a thinker statue weapon mod even. Could even make Carlito Godot while you're at it. All unnecessary but would be awesome to see regardless.
God the voice acting is abysmal… I think only two characters have decent acting in this entire cast: Jessie and Otis… Frank’s voice acting doesn’t fit some of the scenes we’ve seen him in so far, Brad’s voice acting is totally abysmal. I’ve seen footage of Steven, the grocery store manager, and Lord Almighty… not… even… close. The performances of almost every new actor is just… god awful. I’m afraid to see what’s happened to a lot of the other cutscenes, such as the sequence in the tunnels as Brad and Carlito fight it out. The encounter between Brock and Frank will probably not even stack up to the original… I’m afraid to even imagine how bad it sounds. Frank seems to have lost a lot of his snark with the new voice. He sounds devoid of a lot of life he had in the original, like almost every voice actor sounded like they were not acting according to a script but literally experiencing the situation at hand. TJ Storm really played an amazing stoic and courageous character in Brad Garrison and it sucks to see the life get sucked out of a great character. Almost all the great characters get degraded in the performance part of things and two characters have changes to them that make no sense: Cliff and Larry. Michael Yama’s performance as Larry is iconic as it is convincing that he was once just a humble butcher that loved his job and his customers. The friendly demeanor behind his voice mixed with the devotion to his job as a butcher to the point of serving Carlito as “fresh meat” is just memorable. Michael really gave us a great performance with the final Psychopath in 72 Hour Mode. Steve Blum’s performance as Cliff is just as memorable but the details of Cliff to add to his character elevated how memorable the resolution to the boss fight is, especially if you know how bad Vietnam War vets had it when they got back home. Seeing a Vietnam Vet that lived to raise a healthy and beautiful family go crazy when his granddaughter gets eaten alive by zombies due to his wartime PTSD is more tragic than just him now being a generic veteran. Many Vietnam vets suffered poverty, expulsion from society, homelessness, cancer due to Agent Orange, etc. Cliff’s tragedy is elevated knowing that he saw average people and zombies as Viet Cong during his PTSD episode and him snapping out of it before he died and sharing his final moments with Frank, who actually respected and understood him better than most did in the end was heartbreaking. The voice acting helped create one of the most memorable zombie games ever made. It wasn’t just the amount of weapons that can be used or the amount of zombies that can be on screen; there was a lot more to this game than the gruesome violence, the graphics or the fact that the engine didn’t brick itself when 800+ zombies appeared at once without stuttering or frame-dropping the engine. The performances of every single VA made the game an immersive title with a story that’s well told, steeped in b-movie cheese but taken very seriously, sharp in its satire of photojournalism, news exploitation of tragedies and news saturation and well-acted by a stellar cast of voice actors that gave us what most zombie games can’t do these days: give us a damn good cast that deserve awards.
I know gamers in general are often victims of arrested development, but the DR crowd really takes it to new levels. Face it, people, the OG wasn't great because of all the early 2000s pseudo-edginess/weapons grade cringe or the b-movie writing and dialogue, it was great in spite of it. Because it worked as a game. Crying over not getting rewarded for being creeps and because your precious racist caricature got taken out not only proves every single prejudice about gamers, but is probably spawning brand new ones as I write this.
The edginess makes it more interesting. Dead rising isn't even that edgy. Seriously though, how is the Asian butcher guy a racist caricature though? He's literally just an Asian guy lol
1. No, it is great because of early 2000s pseudo edginess and other things 2. What is even reason to play this version, what it adds? Because licensed tracks are gone if I heard right, some models looks strange (Frank looks like he'd retire in one month), there is no new and additional content. What is reason in playing it instead of Remaster version?
