So first off, and this is something I’ve told a few let’s players, you missed a very easy to miss survivor in the entrance plaza. Once you and Brad talk to the doctor, you can go to a clothing store and find Bill trapped behind boxes you can break. Second: the convicts will always respawn after a few in game hours Third: doing the out of control mission makes the game SOOOOOOO much easier

Granted, that opening scene you don't remember seeing only really plays in the original if you spend too long on the start screen.

I think a design choice for kids, at least in 2D stuff like anime and manga, big heads. Otherwise I think they can look like little adults, which would look super strange.
